Kudos to the fight back and not giving up and still trying. I got my tip right too...

The kids are all doing not so bad for my mind. Otten is superb.

The gameplan is ok - but it's one gameplan.

Where is our other one?

You don't play the same gameplan regardless of the opposition or the state of the game, yet we do.
I'd say the gameplan just isn't adaptable. Unless sides give up the corridor, we're ****ed.
But yeah, semantics.
Bloody disappointing no matter how you look at it.

And we really should have lost by a lot more than that.

Port were too good tonight. Shame for them that they don't play with that intensity each week. Until they can learn to do that, they will continue to be downhill skiers for 20 weeks a year.

McLeod and VB had shockers. As said by someone else, McLeod has retired.

Shame we didn't get thumped then serious changes might've been made...oh wait who am I kidding its the Crows...

I dont get it. We have had a rubbish forward line for a decade. I hear all this crap from Criag and co. that we are building a promising forward line for the future, yet we play our best tall forward option in the ruck.

Nope Port are top 4 and a rough chance at a premiership. As for us, we move further and further away from our next premiership - you aint seen nothing yet though, wait to Goody and Edwards retire - McLeod already has.

Crows supporters are delusional if think there are quick fixes - we have holes all over the ground.

I do not believe Port are Top 4 or a shot at the flag

the best is great however there worst is shit and until they close the gap between there best and worst then they will still cause there supporters some concern

all credit to Port tonight however you just dont know which side will turn up next week

What excuse will people use tonight? Couldn’t possibly be the game plan, cannot kick more than 10 goals against the bottom side last week was them flooding back, what excuse will it be tonight?

OUR GAME PLAN SUCKS – how about that ****ing excuse.

We need to start attacking and let the kids develop with an attacking game plan. This negative/defensive orientated system isn’t working as we don’t kick enough goals to win – so it doesn’t ****ing matter.

insipid performance tonight, stevens was very soft tonight, van berlo is the most overrated player in the team.
game plan sucks, sides have worked out how to beat it already,
terrible handballing skills tonight. we are a long way off at the moment:thumbsdown:

Rubbish, they beat no one tonight, and only won by 4 goals. 4 goals and they had 60% or more of the play.

A good side would have beat us by 12 goals at least.

I'm so over the zone Neil.

We are down by more than 5 goals and there's not one forward in our fifty arc. Certainly won't win many games like that.

This is the one thing I dont get about modern footy. You ahve a zone with empty forward line. Back in the good ole days that space would be for the full forward and Mods would love that much space to work in. Sure play your zone but leave ne guy down there for a one on one contest. And if another defender coes down looking for a cheap stat send another, and so forth........

You can have the best game plan in the world but if you don't have the cattle....

Disappointing but I'm not as shattered as I usually am after a showdown loss for some reason. I did think we'd win, but our young guys with the exception of Otten, showed just how far they've got to go till they're genuine contributors. I don't think it's a game plan issue, I think it's an intensity issue. We just didn't want the pill enough I thought, in fact that is becoming all too regular an occurence. Completely void of the intensity we had 2 years ago. I was heartened to see us keep it to 26, Port would be very disappointed with that margin, they should've won by 12, they were 45 points up with lots of game to play.

Yeah, so.

We have such a young side – correct? if that is the case what the **** are they learning having 16 players behind the ball and going nowhere playing some stupid zone.

What are they learning?

Yeah but Griffin was getting smashed in the ruck. We didn't play Tippett in the ruck often enough, he was the only one that could win a bloody clearance.

What we need is two Tippetts.

Thanks for the passion guys, always a fascinating read going through the whole matchday threads in 10 minutes, it's like watching the game in fast forward :p

That might get you howled off this board...for what its worth, he has been disappointing this year, but has had no pre-season prep so my expectations are low.

Our best tall forward option (this is arguable) is also our best ruck option. Personally, I'd play Kurt as our first ruckman with spurts down forward. He is a much more competitive ruckman than Griffin, Maric or Moran.

We should be developing our other kids for the forward line (Walker, McKernan, Young, Lee, etc). Kurt's best matches have primarily been in the ruck, and that's where he should stay.

Last night has peaked my interest regarding crowd numbers and possible fixing, I didnt go, but on the tv that was the emptiest 41k+ crowd I have seen.

The Crows get 40k and when I watch the replay on TV there is no empty spaces, yet last night there was supposedly almost 42k there, but you could see scatterings of empty seats. I thought judging from how 40k for the crows looked that it looked like there was only 37k there.

If we are going to play Tippett as a ruckman then so be it ( I think its a bad move) then play him there and bring in another youngster such as Mckernan or even Sellar ( who knows he may suprise us, doubt it )and play him as a permanent tall forward. Lets get serious about rebuilding our next premiership team. At the moment we are all over the shop.

Is it always like that at showdowns?

This is the most overrated event in terms of rowdyness.

I was one of about 2-3 people yelling in my bay. THAT'S IT@!

It was spent giving shit to Stevic, who is a disgrace of an umpire.

The ladies behind me just kept yelling "c'mon Corws" ****ing non ****ing stop and in between would ask who this was or who that was. Jesus H Chirst I was ketting wierd looks for having a yell.

Is it always that placid?

Welcome to Footy Park

South Aussies are conservative in nature and you dont get the emotion that you see in Victoria. Or I might add the Footy knowledge. It is one of the reasons that neutrals or most Crowies dont go to random Power games. Whereas in Melbourne a Richmond supporter may go to a Hawks V Carlton game just to watch footy.
