Port have shown you break them in the first and they wont come back.

They may have outscored the Pies after quarter time, but the Pies coasted to a win. The damage was done in that first quarter.
Thats how I saw it, Magpies just kept them at arms length then put the foot down when it got a little close for comfort.

I'd like to see us win the first quarter, a feat that i'm not sure we've accomplished at all this season?

I don't think we run out of legs after the Freo game. You'd expect the training sessions to be tailored to suit a 6 day break as well as it being after a slog of a game. The good thing is it wasn't a wet game so our legs should be primed.
I've seen it plenty of times over the years. Teams play themselves into the ground 1 week then come out flat as a tack. I have no doubt that the training has been tailored to suit this, and in general I feel like we are running out games well these last 3 weeks. But still, it will have an impact!

Pies really dismantled them badly. The winning margin may have been "only 39pts" but they had kicked 15.18, Reid missed some absolute sitters. So did De Goey.

Last time I saw Kane Farrell he appeared in a Showdown to kick 3 goals in a quarter - haven’t heard of him since.

Now I see he’s fronting up to tomorrow for another crack at the Sam Kerridge medal

In all fairness his direct opponent in that opening quarter was D-Mac and Mackay wasn’t expecting Farrell to be so keen on kicking goals that early

I have.

He misses we make Finals and probably still have Sando as coach.

Port miss Finals and probably don't have Hinkley anymore.

A genuine Sliding Doors moment between our two clubs.

A 19 year old Wingard wining the Showdown medal had all of us worried that Port had their hands on a future top 5 player in the AFL

I am not saying that Rozee will follow a similar path, but there's a history of Port players getting showered early in their careers with undeserved praise and the damage that it can do to their development.

We need ultimately Rozee to have Wingards ego. That will be enough to bring back down to the pack.

Didn't Fyfe get 32 possessions, 19 of which contested, 7 clearances, 5 inside 50's and going at nearly 80%DE?

Cause thats pretty much the polar opposite of what i'm trying to achieve with SPP here!

CEY's first half on Cunnington is what i'm wanting. Give me that, but unlike the North game, also have the other 21 Crows players rock up!
Fyfe had a good game but most of his free ball was on the defensive side of the contest and was not harmful, it when he gets forward of the contest he dangerous. Crows restricted him forward of the ball. and also did the job on Mundy, so Freo had no easy ball forward of the contest.

I'd like us to win controversially again, for the Port melts
Holding the ball 20 metres out. Betts is the tackler. Kicks the winning goal. Power supporters raging when Sloane wins the showdown medal. Pyke gets on the mike and says " Shout out to you Bucks. Anyone who boos a champion take a good long look."

Damo half right it should be Friday night games,
But any MCG showdown should only be on the last game of the year. And that the only time the Crows should play Port at the MCG.
We wear the State guernsey and they can wear their crappy prison bar jumper

Rather than looking at stopping SPP, maybe the Port should be worried about stopping the Crows Midfield, this is the biggest and strongest Midfield the Crows have put against Port, for a long time and all experienced in tough games.
We have 2 x 190 big bodied mids who are strong in the contest, B Crouch at 186 who is strong in the contest,
To me the matchups are
M Crouch (182) vs Rockliff (183)
Sloane (182) vs Boak (184)
B Crouch (186) vs SPP (187)
Greenwood(191) vs Drew (191)
CEY(190)vs ??
My only concern will be the 20% ROB not in the middle, I still believe we play ROB on Lycett all day and run a tag team against Ryder or Play Hartigan on him for the full game.

We should be pushing to win the contest win that and Port will fall away.
Besides, Rockliff will be there main inside man, like early games in the year, only then the younger kids had run in the legs and were fresh, on Sat there kids are not fresh nor AFL hardened.

Nah. We are the Adelaide Crows, and proud of our club history.

Why wear a jumper that is not really part of our club history.

Yes I know we were formed to represent to SANFL, but we have evolved from being a quasi State team.

Yo would think Port will have Ryder Ruck the ground around front edge of centre square to the Goal line and Lycett will do the rest. Which will mean Ryder probably gets to ruck 35% to 40% of the tap work, ROB will need to stay with Lycett so Ryder will be rucking against very inexperienced ruckmen the majority of the time especially if harto stands him

Heritage round. We evolved from all the SANFL teams in 1991, and Port devolved from the swamps sometime in the Middle Ages

I would love to see a throwback 90s jumper.with a collar and the original "Camry" Toyota logo on the chest.

Yea Port have been Ruck Ryder for 30% on average this year, I would Put Hartigan on Him around the ground and when in the centre maybe Himmelberg for the height.
Ryder down on Contested marks and becoming more lead up in the forward line this year, believe his past injuries are playing on him. So put Hartigan on him and tell to play hard contested football and every time Ryder gets the ball he gets tackle hard and to the ground. by the closest player. every time. Use a Traditional port approach against him. :)
Then Lets then see how Port go in the Last quarter when they try there plan to play a fresher Lycett against a tieing ruck, If ROB runs with Lycett he will be just as fresh.

Not sure what conclusion we can draw from the “fun facts” in the above? :)

Would have loved to see Jones and Ned in for the Showdown, and make it like a mini-showdown of the young kids brigade.

The new Port kids all looked impressive, until the pressure cooker game against the Pies last week. Will be interesting to see if they respond or stay in their shells.

Well if you followed the discussion, the fun facts was in relation to a poster not knowing if we had won a first quarter this year.

There's a kids showdown at Alberton next Saturday.

To follow from the kids practice showdown they played at Thebarton, and the country mostly kids showdown they played at Port Pirie.

We may be diluting the concept.

AS I posted before, at least 2 of those goals were on Brown...

Willem is a local lad that I saw plenty of for the Ballarat Rebels in the TAC, he had an exceptional tank then and it will have only got better in an AFL system. He's also a wiry hard nut that loves getting his hands dirty in the contest and with his overhead ability quite capable when he drifts forward so he could stretch Greenwood's endurance if that's the match up your suggesting.
