Any one watch?

The Emus return and Newcastle make the comp even bigger.

Saturday afternoon rugby makes its long-awaited return to Sydney when the Shute Shield kicks off in front of limited crowds on July 18.

Penrith and Newcastle have joined the 13-team competition, which will run over 13 regular rounds with a top six finals series culminating in a grand final under lights on October 31 at a ground yet to be determined.

Will be interesting to see how strong Penrith and Newcastle are. Uni will be interesting without the tah players being able to play.

Penrith were always horrible, never having the coin to hang onto any stars.
But I’d heard we had to have certain levels of backing etc to compete. So fingers crossed we are competitive this year.

Have no idea about how Newcastle will do, and I’m always dreaming of a zero win season for Uni. So fingers crossed.

Who isn't dreaming of a poor uni season. Hope penrith (especially) and Newcastle play well, also hope it is quite an even season.

Good to see the SRU actually doing something for the game or just undoing their poor work of cutting the Emus
Although unfortunate the results and finances of penrith were just not strong enough to continue. It may just be for this year but you hope they can make a good enough argument to contest the 2021 comp.

We had no problems getting flogged. The club deserved to be there.
Didn't say or mean the team doesn't deserve to be there. But when a team is being flogged and the money not being there, you can see why the club was kicked out of the comp.

Emus werent demanding extra funding nor requesting any help outside of what the clubs across the board were getting.
Weren’t in debt either.

Zero reason other than their stupid cardigan “back to the private schools” plan they cooked up a couple of years ago.

Killing off pretty much any rugby west of Parra. Rams and Emus gone in quick succession. Stupid really stupid by them.

Exactly but the ARU and SRU are kings of stupid decisions
