New draftees getting a game Rd 1 is definitely not a concern with Nicks as proven by his track record over the past 5 years.

Some of the older and more jaded posters are still stuck in the Neil Craig era.

It's just rounds 2-23 that are the issue.

Pedlar stuffed his shoulder in April though. Was never going to show much after that this year. 2025 is Huge for him

He was definitely in a lull beforehand. The shoulder ruined any shot of saving his 2024.

Absolutely, and Peds might be relying on some luck to fall his way to force his way in. You don't want to be in a dogfight against Ben Keays or Alex Neal-Bullen to save your career.

Will be interesting to look back on this draft class in 10 years time to see if it is the super draft as claimed by the experts and who are the surprise packets and who are the first round duds.

It's a pity we don't have a second round pick (burnt this years 2nd round picks on Curtain and ANB) but on paper it seems we have done well this off season.

Excited to get Sid though.
agreed. but interesting as someone else mentioned how many 'off Broadway' surprise picks came after Tiges picked Faull at 14. a number of the assumed first round is still yet to be drafted

Who’s going to end up captain out of Sid and Max ? Going to be a tight call
normally go the midfielder if its close call. they are following the pill around and having more impact on the game overall. and likely to be the better player also IMHO

i dunno I got max as the better player , ie elite at role in comp

hodge did ok at half back

JHF is way more dynamic and explosive but this lad is equally as damaging. Less grunt but more innate class from my observation.

They're fundamentally different players.

JHF has way more explosiveness and an ability to break a game open, whereas I think Draper is going to be a little more well rounded. My guess is that he will be less likely to drift in and out of games like JHF does, and have a better capacity to cover the ground.

Jeffcrowe 'A fair way off JHF level' is laughable. I've spoken to people who've coached both at Panthers and most believe Draper has a higher ceiling, and a far far better attitude.

How pissed would he have been at the report he didn’t want to go to the crows.
I know the club would have spoken to him, but it’s not something Sid should have had to deal with.
Shun Josh Money at any opportunity crows.
has this Josh Money guy got social media that we can post to? inc the news about him ringing Nicks and saying he desperately WANTED to play for his beloved club

got JHF classier, he's got the finishing skills and ability to kick multiple goals in short space of time
Totally agree here

It's like comparing JHF and Rozee ....Rozee, a very good player, but JHF can turn games & has eliteness is so many aspects of his game

We've only seen a glimpse of what JHF will do in the future

actually draper an interesting comparison with rozee, draper going to be more trustworthy when the heat is dialled up

rozee more skillful but a bit flaky last 2 seasons

one thing draper is not is flaky

Depends how you see 'class', but also Draper is what..3-4 seasons behind JHF. We'll see how Draper develops over the same distance but I'm comparing them to my observations watching South Adelaide week after week when JHF was playing back then. Draper moves through traffic like he's got plenty of time which is always a sign of class, and is IMO better at it.

fair enough - great to have both with us and monitor over time.

hodge was a number one pick and hard as nails lead by example type player. Where do you see Max long term? Back pocket (Ben Hart role) or more midfield/wing/hbf?

Yep, agree ...Draper will have the better defensive game ....the lack of defence in Finals, has been a stinging criticism of Rozee.

I like how Draper doesn't concede possession in a contest ....gets his hands in & flicks the ball out to his advantage

I'm not sure what the negative was with Arlo ....I watched a lot of his training sessions on the COLL Board in 2023 .....he looked a monty to get midfield time, according to track-watchers .....just didn't happen

Arlo had tools but issue with footy IQ apparently

Just couldn’t get the flow of a game and get in right spots

interesting insights - thanks for sharing. Interesting that you say JHF is significantly more explosive. Draper seems elite in that way to my naked eye

Draper looks like he has better 2-way run than Rozee and works hard defensively

I can see him as the best player in that half back role in comp as a lock down that also wins lots of ball like a Ben hart

Can also push into midfield at times but I won’t say that will be his main role as we won’t need him there

Wing would be a waste IMO

Like it if he’s in action in contests in back half pushing forward as he wins contests
