The problem with that, is hes not a forward
Neither is Murphy

The philosophy if 21/22 doesnt matter - which is why Taylor/Murphy play - also means a Draper/Dowling could play

I dont understand the '' he isnt ready '' crowd - it doesnt matter . This week against North we have an opportunity. Sure some people think keep the foot on the pedal and play F1 football - but again if ''it doesnt matter '' then surely we can carry Sid

Theyve at least tried playing Taylor in the 2s as a forward, with some success I might add before he came back in.

Im happy for Sid to play, but if he runs around the F50 getting less than 10 touches and a goal, I can see people jumping on him for it.

So Murphy level?

Thing is Murphy has had 120 games to get to that level

I am quite happy for a 7 gamer to have 10/1

Well..... yeah.

I dont know why youre arguing with me on this, I think we're on the same side.
No you have said he shouldnt play because he isnt a forward

To me it doesnt matter - he can have 1 or 2 CBAs - but just play him

Eh, Sid is ready to contribute something at half forward flank. In part because we really don't need anything from our bottom 1-2 selections there (losing Rankine doesn't change that, we just straight up can't replace him and are forced to double down on what we do defensively), and Sid has leg speed which is something our side could do with more of.

Definitely not ready to dominate a finals series, or play midfield, but could do a job for a couple of weeks. Similar to what Taylor is doing at the moment. At worse, it's just the same output we get from Murphy/Pedlar/Cook (i.e. nothing) but younger.
And a far higher ceiling. That slightly better chance it’ll click and he’ll become an important contributor. The risk vs. reward is in his favour.

There is no chance it will click. For that to happen, Sid is going to need one (and likely more) preseasons so his body catches up (seeing he's an inside mid, which probably requires 10+ kg on his frame). After all, he's not a small forward by trade, or has the level of foot skills that allows someone to excel on the outside before their body catches up. That was lost when Sid got hit with that back fracture pre-draft.

It's just a case of getting more leg speed and hoping that is better than nothing.

I'm not saying he'd be elite. But when the baseline is the contributions of Pedlar/Cook/Murphy/Schoenberg, there is a chance it clicks in the sense that he becomes a far superior contributor. That in of itself is an important contribution.

And the early exposure now will set him up for greater success in future years.

It's good that they've done it.

But there is no reasonable excuse for having played Murphy last week and not Draper.

Idiot club gonna idiot.
The most distressing part of this ordeal was when Sloane mentioned the squad covering Rankine's loss and highlighted Murphy.

It's a sick joke

Could we do it? Could we go to our youth and release something for the finals?

We are flagging right now. Even though we have been winning - we've lost that burst and damage.

Now we have no Rankine, we need to step into this challenge and make the decision that winning a final is not the aim ... we need to do everything we can to win the premiership.

Our defence is the building block that we got here on, now throw some spice in see what we get!!

Draper is the one. Add in Rachele for a Prelim and maybe Dowling on a wing?

Will be interesting to see where it lands.

Hopefully it's NOT just Murphy and Smith.
Well damn!!

No complaints from me 😂

Id be working back from Rankine as to who is going to be the most damaging forward. Rather than the tried and tested "Who's better than Murphy"

Again I have no idea why youre arguing with me.
The must have thought it was Murphy, which is crazy.
