Minor premiers to straight sets had literally never been done before.

I don't know what you think the word 'common' means, but this was the precise opposite.
Port Adelaide 2002.

Still shit.

Defeated Essendon in the semi, and lost a prelim?
You are very likely right. I asked ChatGPT

✅ Port Adelaide, 2002

  • Finished: 1st (Minor Premiers)
  • Finals:
    • Lost Qualifying Final to Collingwood
    • Lost Semi Final to Essendon
  • Result: Eliminated in straight sets despite finishing top.

Port Adelaide 2002 is the only time in the modern top-eight system (used since 2000) that a minor premier has lost both finals and gone out immediately.

Never according to the moist one and his cohorts of always merry thems. Everything’s great, winning when it doesn’t matter is great, best club in the land with continued respectable mid table success for 27 years and counting

Neil Craig was ahead of his time. Sadly, he’s been behind the time for decades, but we still run his exact program.

Until our club realises he is a problem, we’ll never genuinely compete.

No point getting upset. This team is not winning a premiership whether Draper is there or not.
The sooner we get 50 games into him the better though...

Dude, he had an 18-5 record last year, which I don't think anyone in the league expected.

THEN we got overawed and spanked in the finals, which is pretty common for a team getting there for the first time. Now, they've been there and don't have excuses.

It's ridiculous how much this board shits on Nicks. Even after our crap finals performance, he came third in Coach of the Year voting, because others focus on what he WAS able to achieve.

Sure, the time for excuses is over, but it's insane to keep bashing him until he at least gives you an actual reason to.
Do you think Nicks is capable of making & winning a grand final?

Imo, I have seen enough evidence that he is not smart enough to match the best coaches.

I don't want to waste this talented list.

How good is old Nicksy though?

Nicks vs Mcrea played 7 won 1
Nicks vs C Scott played 7 won 1
Nicks vs Longmire played 6 won 0
Nicks vs Fagan played 8 won 2
Nicks vs Goodwin played 7 won 2
Nicks vs Hardwick played 7 won 2
Nicks vs Longmuir played 6 won 1
Nicks vs Mitchell played 6 won 2
Nicks vs Beveridge played 6 won 3
Which is why I just posted that imo he is incapable of making a grand final as he is not smart enough to match it with the best coaches.

We have seen enough evidence.

Minor premiers
Two home finals
No quarter won

Unprecedented levels of fail.
Yet so many on here are comfortable with this mediocrity.

This wasn't a once off bad day.

They beat Essendon, and lost to Brisbane in the prelim.

Dude, he went 0-8 for quarters won in the finals.

When you say “we” got overawed, are you saying the players did or are you including Nicks in that?

Until he gives us reason to? That’s some of your finest work there. Do I really need to list all his errors? The list is too long, but I’ll give you some golden oldies and then focus on his finals coaching:

Played Matt Crouch on the wing
Went rogue bonkers and changed our attacking gameplan to focus on defence, leading to our 2024 shit show.

Then on to the finals:

Pies
Chose 9 defenders against Collingwood
Played Max out of position, whilst Elliot beat Bond
Played a slow safe gameplan when all other sides attacked, we were the lowest handballing side in the finals. Our first switch was half way through the second quarter against the Pies. We kicked it so often to a spare Moore he had the most intercept marks in a final.
Didn’t tag Daicos.

Hawks
Didn’t tag Newcombe
Starts Rach as sub when we needed a spark front the get go
Left Keane on Gunston

Selected Murphy as a sub knowing we was about to get cut.
Went out in straight sets
Failed to win a qtr

If Hinkley performed like this what would your opinion be then?

“Until he gives you an actual reason”😂😂😂😂
An actual reason as if 2021-24 never existed

He's just over a season away from becoming the longest serving coach in the clubs history.

He's got a great list.

When can we start holding him to account?
I think now. This club has been built back from the ground up. Now is the time that we can expect excuses to be over, and that we should start having genuine expectations beyond just "improving".

Do you think Nicks has strategic ability to match the best coaches in the AFL?

Do I?

Look, I think he has weaknesses. I think he's more a team culture guy than a strategist, but so is Chris Fagen.

I thought we were a lot better in 2025 than I expected. This year I have higher expectations, so we'll see.

So then we should appoint him as our Football Manager & find a senior coach with strategic ability... which should be a fundamental requirement in the job description!

And yet, all the experienced heads inside the Crows, including Neil Balme, disagree with you .....the minor round performances proved you wrong

So upon hearing Balme getting Roo' s job ....."he's a winner" everyone said .....so he's wrong as well now I suppose

Just give it up
