Got better as the game went on last night, obviously still lacking match fitness and touch.
Just needs a decent run at it and he'll be fine.
If anything his biggest problem at present is he appears to be trying too hard to impress just needs to settle and his natural ball winning capabilities will return.
I’m not in his corner yet

Agree, but it’s not hard to understand posters’ concern. On principle, I reckon developing in the SANFL does nothing but develop a SANFL player. If you don’t get out quick, you don’t get out.
Yeah perhaps as a general rule but there are certainly some exceptions with either extremely raw / immature players (Worrell) and recovering players like Sid. If he is still there mid year, assuming no further injury set backs, then thats a concern but he showed enough in his first handful of AFL games last year that I am confident he is AFL quality.

All the other players that went early in 2024 - Lalor, FOS, Smith, Ashcroft and Langford - seem quality, so it would be Hamish reverting back to his poor recruiting from last decade to have picked a dud here. And Sid was talked about as a potential number one for much of the draft year so far too early for anyone to be writing him off. A couple of months ago there were concerns he would even play ANY footy this year

And he is exactly what we need if he comes good. In and under, extreme pace Mark Naley type rover from what i have seen. Him and Curtin fully developing as mids gives us our best chance for a flag later this decade

A lot of people were saying the same about Curtin as early as start of last year (me included).
I was the same, which is why I'll give Draper a bit more time because of all the injuries. But as pick 4 you'd want be getting up to speed pretty quick seeing what they guys taken before and after you are doing.

Really?

It's irrelevant.

And how many of these draftees you speak of have had their career this far impacted by quite serious injuries?

Why ??

Not everyone develops at the same rate especially when they battled a few injuries along the way.

Its irrelevant what other picks are doing at this point.

Playing managed minutes, clearly a way off fitness wise and doesnt look 100% in his body which is leading to some errors.

He'll be fine
