too early to call
who knows who we will pick up in the drafts and who we may trade for from other clubs.
If mundy leaves I cant see us doing any better then this year
need to throw everything at him

Why do you have Morabito at CHB? I hope that Sibasado continues to develop and replace Grover early next year

Didn't expect a lot of support on that one, just think he'd look good in the CHB role that Chad Cornes used to play so well.

With a bit of dead wood remaining and Tarrant on the way out Grover will probably get another year but I won't be disappointed if he's pushed into retirement.

I cant see Clancee Pearce in the side I think he regressed this year and I noticed he was a Harvey whipping boy when he played so he may not even be on the list. This would be my side but there is a fair bit of water to flow under the bridge untill round 1.

Silvagni Grover Duffield
Broughton McPharlin Ibbotson
Morabito Mundy Hill
Fyfe Pavlich Mayne
Ballantyne Johnson Walters

Sandilands McPhee Barlow

Hayden Suban deBoer Crowley

Emergency : Roberton Palmer van Berlo Bradley

I hope Clarke develops but I think he needs a big preseason to over take Bradley.

he's got the size to do it but I reckon he's too damaging to have in defense. I really like his work in contested situations so I hope we see more of him in the cente next year

Keeping the development theme going;

* Sibo has come in displacing Grover.

* Hayden also is struggling to be best 22, bringing a tear to every fans eye.

* Palmer has regained his gut-running, and has had significant work done on his footskills.

* Mundy re-signed.

Broughton Sibasado Duffield
Suban McPharlin Ibbotson
Morabito Mundy Hill
Fyfe Pavlich Mayne
Ballantyne Silvagni Walters

Sandilands McPhee Barlow

Palmer Johnson deBoer Crowley

Emergency : Roberton van Berlo Bradley Hayden Grover

I hope you're right Gav although I see Sibo and Grover as very different type players/defenders. Grover is a stay at home shut down type and Sibo is more a zone off and run off type at this stage. Hopefully he can develop the other side of his game to become more a versatile defender ala Scarlett or even Taylor.

Dom you have mentioned the side for RD 1 in 2011 might not be our best 22 depending on how preaseason goes and drafting/trades. I think the club will be conservative with barlow and maybe even balla

I'd like to see Zac clarke given a do in the ruck (carried in the side to develop) with the side using Sandi up forward more often to stretch the opposition. this requires balla/walters near his feet for the crumbes.

all serious finals sides have two ruckmen and at least one key forward

Bradley is an honest toiler but no ruckman

Tarrant is going and i think they throw grover a 1 yr contract because we look very thin down back if elvis has an ongoing problem with his knee.

Where are casey an hamish at both could be offered 3rd yr rookie spots but free to decline and put themselves in drafts?

Silva is not a key position backman more used to take third tall and can be swung up forward

If barlow does recover and we still have mundy and palmer regains his appetite got the gut busting run then we can use Pav up forward with Johnno and Chopper(no key forward yet).

Like to see Matt D be rotated thru the midfield wasted as a defensive forward

BL: Hayden Grover Silver
HBL: Duffield Elvis Ibbo
CL: Hill Mundy Fyfe
HF: De boer Johnno Walters
FL; Balla Pav Chopper

Ruck: Sandi, Barlow Mora

Int from: Clarke, Suban, Mcphee, Crowley, Roberton, Palmer

Way to early to tell but atm I would say. I think Palmer comes straight in if he has a full pre season. Suban at this stage unlucky to miss out I know a lot of people love him but he needs to work on finding the footy. Would like a better back up ruckman then Bradley hopefully we can get Mitch Clarke.

FB: Silvagni, McPharlin, Duffield
HB: Hayden, Johnson, Broughton
C: Morabito, Mundy, Hill
HF: Fyfe, Mayne, Ibbotson
FF: Ballantyne, Pavlich, DeBoer

R: Sandilands, Barlow, Palmer

Int: McPhee, Bradley, Walters, Crowley

Emergency: Suban, Roberton, Grover, Van Berlo

We have some decent depth still could use some improving. This team would be really hard to stop at Subiaco with all the running power of Hill, Morabito, Palmer, Broughton, Ibbotson etc. Another tall forward would be nice after Pavlich Ballantyne was our next highest with 33 goals then the next closest was 22 form Haselby who is gone. Prehaps this will be the year Mayne steps up and can kick 40+ for the season. We really need Pavlich to play in the forward line all game so he has a chance of kicking a bag I think it is a huge possibility with Barlow, Mundy and Palmer winning contested footy and Hill and Morabito getting another pre season into there bodies.

Too early to say without seeing who we pick up in the draft. Who would have picked Barlow in our starting lineup this time last year?

As far as Morabito goes, I'd like to see him more at half-forward than on a wing.

Broughton Sibosado Silvagni
Duffield McPharlin Ibbotson
Hill Palmer Morabito
Mayne Pavlich Fyfe
Walters Johnson Ballantyne

Sandilands Barlow De boer

Bradley Suban McPhee Crichton

We really need Mundy to stay, Crowley is a good tagger but it's starting to piss me off how everytime he gets the ball he immediately snaps off some misguided rushed kick which goes nowhere except straight up.

From that team I'd replace either Bradley or Crichton with Mundy.

Lot's of speculation, the only thing that's certain is that the team will look nothing like this.

Gone up to 10?:
Thorton (ret), Solomon (ret), Haselby (ret) Taz (trade), Des (delist/retire/assistant coach?), Dodd (de-list), Schammer (trade), Hinkley(de-list), Murphy (de-list), O'Brien (de-list)

Those without Roberton in the best 22 need to go have a tug.

Serious over rating of Grover going on. He has been good, but I can't see him holding off Silvagni and Roberton with another pre-season under their belts.

He'll be a player that comes in for specific match ups, I believe.

Yep agree, although I believe they can both be best 22 without Taz.

It depends. Next year at least we have some flexibility with our talls.

We could play Silvagni, Grover and McPharlin in the backline when we are against a gorilla forwardline, with Roberton playing smaller and releasing somoene like Duffield into the middle.

And teams without, we could play McPharlin and Grover with Roberton playing taller, and moving Silvagni forward.

He takes a really good grab meeting the ball, Silvagni.

Our problem will be the next year when Grover will almost certainly be gone, and McPharlin may choose to retire as well.

At least it gives us a year for one of the roughie talls to make it. And all we need is one of the 5 or so to come off, and we would be in an ok position.

If we can get Silvagni, Roberton and Backman Anonymous for 2012, it could be adequate, but not outstanding.
