If Obree went out of the team tommorow for Barham il be happy. We need pace on that ground and thats something Barham has and also we could use him to tag like a Barlow or a Hill.

I agree. I would love to see Barham come in purely for no other reason then stopping Hill. If Hill gets a chance to have 10+ open kicks we are cactus, cannot give him any room and Barham has the speed to go with him but will also have an advantage in strength

I think we will win. Obviously Medhurst has set up goals in each game. But hasn't kicked as many off his boot as Jack.
This cancels the two out I think, and he's not just a goal hungry log, he will lay a few tackles, make contests etc.

I think, if anything, Dawes needs to be the one laying more of the hard tackles to counter the loss of Medhurst, as Anthony's main role is to kick the big goals. (That's not taking away from Dawes' efforts in the last few weeks). Especially considering McPharlin will probably take Dawes, thus Anthony may play on an "easier" defender.

Also, I actually think Presti would be a bit too slow to follow Pavlich. Double teaming him with Brown and Maxwell should be the key. When in the midfield, hopefully Johnson will get a go at him.

Shattered Wellingham isn't in, but hopefully O'Bree can shark as many as possible and pound some Fremantle-ians into the ground (if he can catch them).

HEY, im just happy Fraser isn't playing!

Agreed. Anthony will probley get a 3rd deffender on him and i think he will kill him if we can get it to him. I like the idea of play three talls i think it will work out very well.

I'm actually hoping for Barham in for O'Bree.
I'm not.

Barham has played one very good VFL game (which I didn't see) but in the pre season games and the other VFL games I did see him in, he still made terrible "mental" errors, which I have always said is his biggest problem, and why his disposal looks so poor.

We can't afford to bring in Barham against Freo, yes they have 3-4 very quick players, but speed is over rated in big games, getting your hands on the ball first is more important, and with Wellingham out, we need O'Bree.

Would love to see Barham playing. With no Medhurst I would love to see Macaffer thrown forward where he can both impose his great tackling pressure he has shown over the past few weeks as well as go back to kicking bags of goals as he was doing in the VFL when first rookie listed by the club as a forward. Then Barham can play a combination of the O'Bree and Macaffer roles.

I also like how the club is also trialing my idea which I included in my recent Jaxson Barham thread where we play only Jolly as our sole ruck and give him 85% game time and let Dawes backup when necessary which still leaves JA + Cloke up forward which is still quite strong. At the moment based on form I much prefer Jolly + Dawes + Cloke + JA over and other combination of those players with either Fraser or Wood instead of one of the forwards. This allows Jolly to play a greater portion of time in the ruck where he can get a strong rhythm going and effectively play better footy which is another bonus to this.

Also pleased to see both N.Brown and Reid getting another game. Subiaco oval is a monster in terms of injuries so it is best to keep Prestigiacomo fresh for Geelong and give him this week off and give both N.Brown and Reid another week of developing together and playing on AFL quality opposition. Also considering the matchups N.Brown and Reid are fine. So I wouldn't worry.

Playing Dawes as the 2nd Ruckman I really Disagree with. Why would we do that when we have Fraser and Wood. We don't want to ruin his Knee again

Resting Jolly at FF is what I agree fully with... he looks very dangerous one on one and is second to Cloke in that dept. and is a very good kick for a big man.

It's only really to do the L.Brown backup when necessary role of 2009. Jolly when he plays max game time in the ruck plays his best footy as we saw with Sydney. Dawes has a big body and he doesn't need to get hitouts to effect the contest. I think if he played these minor minutes in the ruck it could also get him more so into the game as well as give the opposition defence different looks at our forwardline which at times through this variation cause some confusion due to different forward structures and needing to adjust to the change.

Fraser so far this season has only stood out on ANZAC Day where he performed superbly. Other than that have been pretty disappointed with his efforts. If Fraser were to play backup ruck then I would like to see him play 15-25% time in the ruck with the rest of the game being played forward. So better off having Dawes in the team along with JA. Wood is developing well as a ruckman but still needs to improve other areas of his game to be able to fit into the same team as Jolly.

But form changes, injurys happen so nothing is locked in just yet. Have to try out different combination's and give different ideas a chance to work.

I would rather bring L Brown in to do that then Let 1 of our up and coming FF

Seems like everyone that goes out this year has to come back through the VFL. I see no problem with wellers having a game in the twos before coming back into the side for geelong. If that is what happens. For all we know they just wanted to give him another week to get right and not have to fly to WA with a dodgy calf.

Cheesy will help with sharking some of Sandi's taps. Plus, by all reports, it's going to be wet, should suit him.

I cant see presti flying over if he is no chance to play, so either there will be a late change or he'll be in the 2s again, I would assume he'll play next week either way.

Would be a good test for reid and brown, find out if they can really stand up against a good opponent.

Lets face it guys, next week is more important than this game. Come September we need to KNOW that we can beat the best, and the best is still geelong. If we lose this one but win next week I will be very happy.

Obviously I'd prefer to win both, and we still have a very good chance of that. I'm just saying its more important that we have our best 22 ready to go next week, than risk making someone with a few niggles even worse by flying to perth and playing on that big ground.

will miss not seeing my former favourite player from claremont and Freo Paul Medhurst. Hope his injury is not serious. At least claremont is still well represented in collingwood's lineup.,

I have a very big problem if Wellingham sets foot on a VFL field this week.

I highly doubt he will though.

Well he wont. Simple as that! He is still NQR with his slight calf strain.
Trust me MM knows wellers is in our best 22.

for me.. (early i know) but changes for Geelong..

IN: Wellingham, Presti, Medhurst
OUT: O'Bree, N.Brown, Anthony

wellers cos he's a freak, presti for one of the big 3 (pods will be back) and medders i think is a better option than going cloke, anthony, dawes.. and right now dawes deserves to stay more than anthony

Have some faith lads. The team hasn't disintegrated since last week.

I've calculated that the change forced by Medhurst's injury, combined with the WPS (worst possible scenario) mooted above leaves us with approximately a -4.37% PPI (preferred player index); however our IF (improvement factor) of 29.46%, averaged over the past 20 games, adjusted to the last 7, still leaves us well ahead of the game - as reflected in our position on the ladder.

But your talking about next week not right now.

What if JA kicks a bag..... terrible call in my eyes
