Where does this Cameron Wood shit come from?
2-3 weeks before the season, MM was talking about playing all 3 rucks (Fraser, Jolly, Wood) in the same side, then Wood got injured, and all of a sudden all these stupid Caroline Wilson type rumours stat popping up.
Wood has been injured, HEEEEELLLOOOOOO.
In fact Fraser and Jolly have been quoted lately as saying all 3 are likely to play together at stages this year.
Injuries/form slumps/suspensions will also occur, Wood is not upset yet, I ****ING GUARANTEE IT.
Trav played his best footy as a HFF in 2007 here Rocca was the main target. Would a move for him to a HFF and Dawes to CHF and JA out of the square make a difference?
I like your logic and have felt that Trav has done his best work as second fiddle.
Problem being with the set up you have mentioned is that until Dawes performs to a level where he will get the oppositions #1 defender, Trav will still get blanketed by the best. There's still merit in the idea were it constructed well...

Total myth, this.
Has been picked up by Everitt, MacDonald, Dawson in the first three rounds, following the pattern of last year. Jack gets the best defender or occasionally Medhurst, if in form.
Funnily enough Cloke actually looks better against some of the best defenders (see 2008 or earlier), because they don't follow him to the wings/backline for structural reasons.

Anyway, on to selection, I'm quite happy about the team, especially the INs. Ben Johson adds so much run to our team, the amount of times he runs across the hbf to switch the ball to set up a play on the other side is invaluable, as well as his general running. Very few players have the evaisive skills that Benny possesses.
IMO the player i most want to see in the side is Barham. Not sure how we fit him in, but he would make a fantastic tagger and thats an area we are really lacking in.

My 2 cents on Travis Cloke:
His set shots is not his only weakness however IMO it is easily his most glaring weakness. If he could rectify this he would become a far more important and damaging player although not perfect.
On Saturday night, even though Trav still missed a few goals, I started to feel more confident in his set shots. He looks to have a new approach where he comes in front on straight instead of his little ark around on his left. Even the goals he missed his shots looked to come off the boot well and were not sprayed, they just seemed to go on the wrong side of the stick.
I'm looking forward to having a closer look on Saturday night. Our premiership chances over the next few years depend on us getting our forward line functional and Cloke could become easily our most damaging forward. I will have my fingers crossed for him.

Well if Leigh Browns job is to get 10 possessions a game no goals and give away 3 frees then he's been doing his job admirably.
i can see dawes and brown going for trade option - and i bloody hope not.. wood worries me the most because this kid is good enough - and has shown it, albeit in glimpses, that he will be an above average league ruckman.. Id be will to to bet GC17 and or port will be making huge plays this kid..
I would like to see us line up something like this:

We have one - his name is Jack (not John).
I don't buy this "he doesn't chase, doesn't pop up enough, all he does is kick goals" dribble that comes out. He isn't the perfect player? After 38 game? Oh my!!!! Well that just isn't acceptable. He is A LOT better than Fevola was at the game number of games experience and unless he plays, whether he has the ability to get to that level or not, he won't even have the chance.
He has played 2 games this year and if I remember correctly, in one of those games he played practically the whole game as a decoy to take Lake out of the play, still kicked a goal and missed an easy one he would normally slot.
His game against melbourne he was terrible but still kicked 2 goals in a game where we got murdered out of the middle. We won by one point (lost by eleven?).
He doesn't do a lot but what he does do is the most valuable thing you can do for a team....He is the only person at our club who does it week in week out.
He has kicked 78 goals in 38 games which is the best return from any player since Lloyd. He averages 10 disposals, 5 marks and 2 tackles a game which requires improvement but his 2.1 goals a game considering his experience is bordering on absolutely, completely, devastatingly, ridiculously (you get the picture) brilliant. The fact that he has never kicked more than 4 goals in a game makes it even more brilliant because it shows how consistent his goalkicking actually is.
Leigh Brown has played 3 games this year for 33 disposals, 9 marks, 2 hitouts and 8 tackles and 8 FREES AGAINST. Therefore he actually takes away from our performance by being there, which is apparently more acceptable than the apparently "nothing" goals that Anthony kicks. I would prefer absolutely nothing (but 40-60 goals) this season than the rubbish Brown puts up week in week out.
Anthony should be in this team regardless (and would be in 10 of the other 15 sides as well without trying) but when you consider the fact that Cloke is the worst kick for goal by a key forward since Jade Rawlings got the yips and we kicked 4-17 last week with something like 6 out on the fulls --> Jack's absence from the side is absolutely disgraceful, stupid and detrimental to this team.
I also don't buy the "MM hasn't picked favourites he's dropped Cheese twice in 4 weeks" lines either because Cheese was injured and a late withdrawal from the side the first time. He is also on the emergencies list this time and more than likely will play anyway. Seems like a way of playing favourites without appearing like you are to me. Johnson and Shaw are the most likely to withdraw and who of Reid, Cheese or McCarthy would be picked to replace either? Hmmmm....

I have my moments when I don't mind Leroy, but that time is long gone, even when he does something good he still stuffs up later on. Anything good he does is negated by the crap he serves up.
Can someone who wants leroy in the team please explain to me what he has to do to get dropped??? It can't purely be that no one is taking his spot away from him because the way he has been playing it seems he is trying to give it away. Do the coaches rate our other bigmen so little that they couldn't possibly match his output??
