Pretty sure Leroy could have 0 touches, 0 tackles and people on here would still be saying he deserves a spot because he laid a nice bump.
Yeah and he's been terrible at all 3. He doesn't even need to pinch ruck now we've got Jolly, Fraser and Wood all fit and ready to play. He's just taking up a spot that could be used to give a player better at being a forward/backman games, like Dawes, Anthony, Nathan Brown, Ben Reid. All better options than whatever the hell Browns supposed to be doing.

So what your saying is it doesn't matter how bad he plays he still gets games because he can play several spots? Thats crap... besides Leroy doesn't need to go into the ruck any more considering we are playing 2 ruckman now. He can play forward and back but he doesn't do either very well, he will play the odd decent game and then he will go to shit again...exactly what North supporters said would happen and he takes games from the youngsters.
Do Leroy supporters dispute that Nathan Brown is a much better backman and a much better forward and couldn't be much worse in the ruck? Supposedly he isn't going well at the moment but he would give as much as leroy and be gaining valuable experience.
Plus there is Dawes and Anthony who are in the VFL whilst this spud is getting games, its getting beyond a joke.
I would much rather a developing player do terrible at AFL level than Leroy playing terrible at AFL level, at least then we would know if they are up to it...we already know leroy isn't.

We don't really hard tag in the same way Ling and Jones do as we are without a tagger, I think we will rotate people off him I think when he runs through the middle and go one on one with him, if he goes forward or back I think we would probably tighten up a more. I think any tag we have should go to Mitchell in any case as he kills us everytime.

That's exactly what I'm saying. I'm pretty sure that the side selection in the last 9 months pretty much reflects that exactly.
Personally I would love to see him replaced, but that simply is why he gets a game every week.

Hodge would be a good captain choice for DT or SC this week.

If we could replace him with Dawes/Brown then I'd be pleased, but at this point we can't. It'll happen, he'll be phased out at some point.
Hopefully he goes out with a bang, ala Lloyd.
Nah get on Mitchell if you've got him, he absolutely rapes us every year - Malthouse even refers to him as the best inside mid he has seen since diesel. I've actually got some money on him for most possies this round - though still think the pies will win.

Good to see the coaching staff address the real problem from last week at the selection table, run and carry from the back half that should allow our forwards to stay closer to goal and not need to make position in the midfield to break the zone.
Everyone bleating about forwards and missed kicks for goals I'm sure as hell glad you don't coach my team because you miss the real problem.

Johnson and shaw were injured last week and were always going to be auto inclusions when available, hardly ground breaking stuff at the selection table. Forwards are an issue whether you see it or not.

does anyone else think it's weird that they dropped mccarthy instead of macaffer? i thought both of them were 'servicable' last week but mccarthy showed awesome signs in pre season and rd 1 of vfl.

McCarthy had a poor game, Macaffer was good. Pretty simple one really.
apologies if this has been covered, in relation to match selection, how is Simon Buckley traveling?
Just from what I read he's a good rebounding defender, so could have even been a good replacement for Heath Shaw last week (loathed as I am to bring that up).

Buckley seemed to struggle a little bit pre season, but over the past few weeks his form has got better.
Last week he got back his usual run and carry, and looked very good in the second half of the VFL.
So good in fact, that if he played like that again, I could see him replacing a slower player like Lockyer for matchup reasons against the pacy Essendon side next week.
Well worth picking up, just have to hope he stays fit.
MM has been known to debut many players on ANZAC day.
