Can any club except WCE? I'm sceptical.

Sponsors likely massive discounts. Corporate gone. Gate gone. Pubs and pokies gone. Gyms gone.

That leaves the AFL dividend, and who knows what hit that gets with the C7 deal. And of course membership, although clubs appear to be hoping most don't cancel.

This means pretty much everyone except clubs with large cash reserves will either be racking up debt or slashing staff. I'd hate to be a club running lean with high debt right now

We can stop teaching children about freedom, democracy and the constitution, since it is clear that these concepts no longer matter.

Now we can use that time instead to teach the kids even more about the evils of carbon dioxide, another problem which the state can fix (yay).

if the s**t teams die off the standard of the game will sky rocket

almost like the All Star game with more tackling and defensive presses

Hopefully an end to all this woke bullshit we have to put up with. Companies will be much leaner, won't be able to fu** around with diversity and inclusion crap.

Or the opposite. The virus takes out mostly the elderly populace, meaning corporations start to appeal to the younger generation who are more tolerant. Same for politics, the anti-woke conservatives lose their biggest voting block. Alan Jones loses his listener base (so why he was telling his audience to go on like normal is mind boggling, maybe he is really a Labor/Greens plant designed to remove the Liberal voting block?)

Economic hardship means less people will have kids and more women will chose to work instead of being stay at home mums so they'll begin to dominate workplaces even more, leading to more calls for pro female diversity.

The Chinese (having overcome the virus or not) have restarted their economy first (along with other Asian nations like Sth Korea) and will be in a position to dictate more to the west, so more pro-Asian diversity is coming whether you like it or not. Most politicians have been careful about not blaming Asians for the virus and decrying anti-Asian racism as they know who they will need to beg to for economic growth when this crisis is over.

More pro-LGBT diversity. Those who generally don't have kids so will have lots more excess cash in a tight economy where corporations will try hard to attract their dollar.

As well we hit a recession mostly the young will be out of work and they may feel resentment towards older generations and their principles, meaning they may as a "f**k you" to the elderly be more inclusive of others. We are already seeing an outbreak of kindness acts in the community (people checking in on their neighbours, buying food for them) so the desires of a group who scream "* the gays, blacks, asians, women, youth" etc may be less tolerated.

And a lote of the anti-woke brigade like Trump, Boris, Alan Jones, Gerry Harvey are exposed in a time of crisis for the idiotic numpties they are so the support for their general political positions decreases.

Trumpists are already saying that it isn't "socialism, it's AMERICANISM"

I'm pissing my pants laughing about how everyone around the world who has been crying forever about "DER EVIL SOCIALISTS!!!" is sucking big government T**ty at lightning speed.

Also it may call for less consumerism because of the idiocy of panic buying, and people may spend more time pursing valuable pursuits rather than mindless shopping so a move away from capitalism in a way? Bet the Alan Jones/Gerry Harvey "f**k the woke" brigade will hate that!

I suspect the diversity and inclusion crap will be the last to be cut, especially if government subsidy to businesses becomes the new norm.

What heavy industry do you think returns to Australia?
We're still exporting raw material for smelting.

will australia look to reinforce manufacturing, food security etc. post this situation?

or still focus on chinese students and tourism as the primary money spinners?

It’s not going to kill everyone over 40. Most corps already do appeal to that demographic, they have the highest disposable income and more influenced by marketing.

Straight question - what have you got against diversity and inclusion anyway?

It's a bullshit make work scheme for losers and status seekers. The WHO spent the first month or so chastising everyone about not being racist and not to create stigma. A month in which they could have declared a pandemic, warned Western countries that enough wasn't being done. They told countries not to close borders. Thankfully for people in Singapore, Taiwan, etc their governments did not listen.

If the worst comes to pass, millions will die needlessly from this disease. So what purpose did all this lecturing serve? To make useless idiots feel good?

Let's see what the chair of the NYC council health committee said:

Weeks later:

Lol, yeah Levine's heart was in the right place - but in a time of global pandemic his head definitely WASN'T. Buoying up that huge crowd in NYC's Chinatown especially... that was just plain dumb on his behalf. Now New York City has the largest infection rates in the United States -15,000 plus in New York state and 9000+ of them in the City alone according to this;

Diversity = yes. Encouraging contagion = no.

It’s the pigheadedness that assumes a person’s self preservation impulses (I won’t go to a Chinese restaurant during an outbreak of disease that comes from China is reasonable) is wrongthink that needs correction. This is what diversity and inclusion mandates. Much like the “hug a Chinese person” call that went on in Italy a couple of months ago, to stand up against those in Italy who said close the borders to China. Those “racists” were right.

A number of Box Hill restaurants went to the wall weeks ago due to the lack of people visiting their restaurants. The bulk of their clientele is Chinese, so I doubt the Chinese avoiding the restaurants there were racist against the Chinese.

1) Corporations are in the main run by people in their 40s, 50s and 60s. The ones dying are in their 70s, 80s and 90s.

2) You live or ever been to a low socio-economic area or country? One thing they don't lack is plenty of kids.

3) If the Chinese have re-started their economy, they're going to need trading partners to buy from them and to supply them with the raw materials.

4) Kids = spending lots of money in a much more varied array of businesses. If LGBT don't generally have kids as you've posted, where will the numbers of future tax payers come from?

5) We are seeing an outbreak of acts of kindness, how many have been reported as having been done by young single people in their late teens and 20s?

I hope this isn't the quality posting we're going to have to put up with now that most of population are going to be bored sitting at home.

In a macro sense - the government debt is going to cost peanuts in the short and medium term are central bank interest rates are close to zero in most major economies.
It also shows that most governments, regardless of their ideology, will act in the face of a crisis.

Alex Rance* return to footy is one such example

*possible

LFC not winning the football.

I was thinking a more egalitarian green world but the above are nice alsO
You do know that the Coronavirus originated in a Manchester lab!!!

Companies becoming leaner = a push for more continuous improvement, productivity offsets, attacks against unions and their members, chipping away at workers rights, and minimal pay increases because the organisation can't afford it.

Diversity and inclusion costs next to nothing.

Yeah. Unfortunately it's an extraordinary time that demands extraordinary measures. When this s**t calms down (if it does?) that's the time for solidarity. Until then it's lock-down time.

Lol unions are already dead.
