I thinkI woke up in the twilight zone this morning...first I hear some clown by the name of Spiro calls in to SEN this afternoon, says that Carlton cant win a GF until Betts, Carazzo and...wait for it...Simmo are traded away, and that CFC should be aggressively trading these guys away this week. A trade for Betts or Carazzo I can see for the right price, but not our Kade!!!

So after I have cleaned up my mess (my lunch) that I had choked up after hearing this, I then start reading stuff on BF (yeah I know, I should have been working), this trade week shit gets me every year, and I start seeing stuff about Stanton from Essendon being better than Kade, then a Stanton - Simmo poll is up, and ffs, Stanton is winning.

I didnt rate Simmo early on, dominated for Bullants but couldnt get a kick in the AFL, too skinny, had nothing that really stood out, but to me now, he is the heart and soul of our footy team, and if Judd wasnt there, an obvious choice as skipper I reckon.

I dips me lid to the skinny bloke with number 6 on his back, never backs down from a contest, as brave as they come, gut runs till the end, never lets us down (bar round 3 this year). Cant wait to see him lif the cup with Judd over the coming years!

Go Blues!

I dont hear the call but i heard about it. (Shakes head)
I agree with you that Simpson is a very important part of our team. He is one of everyone's favourite players and a great clubman.
Simpson is so much better than Stanton its not funny, where was this poll? Surely Essendon supporters wouldnt be voting for him, he is their whipping boy.
Simpson is one of the few shining lights that came from our dark years and to think that had we not lost those draft picks we probably not have him on our list. In my opinion he was more than compensation for not getting Wells.

Anyone that doesn't rate Simmo as top line midfielder demonstrates enormous ignorance and should be pitied. Simmo, along with Judd, can always be counted on to stand up when the chips are down. I hope we win a premiership for Simmo just as much as I hope we win one for Judd.

No need to compare Simmo with anyone. Kade Simpson is an iconic player for us. He does how many 100% gut running contests each game? Sacrificial acts. Selfless.

I remember in the St.Kilda game in 2009? at Etihad. IIRC St.Kilda was undefeated and no one looked like beating them. They got the jump on us and were goals ahead. Kade was hemmed in on the boundary in defence. The easy option was to look for the line. Instead, Kade took them on and created an inspirational passage of play. From that point we turned the game around and out scored them for the rest of the game. And we nearly snatched a win with Hoops almost goaling just before siren.

Kade Simpson was and IS inspirational.

Anyone who can't see that Simmo is a central part of our team's heart 'n soul is a brainless ****nuckle! ;)

Reminds me of a "conversation" that I had with a few Melbourne fans after our second convincing thumping of them this year. I stated that they didn't have a midfielder as good as Simpson and they laughed at me. They essentially said that Simpson was a very average footballer and not the type of player that any of their players should aspire to be. :D

Simpsons a gun.

Anyone that questions his ability and commitment to the contest simply doesnt understand football.

Most criminaly underrated footballer at Carlton, and (like others) I have no doubt he would be captain in the absence of Juddy.

Simpson took a big step up in the 2006 season, being elevated to the leadership group and running 4th in the best and fairest. He played every game, mainly as a running link-man from half-back. He finished in the top 5 in the AFL for running bounces, which was typical of his rebound play, averaged 19 disposals with a maximum of 30, and eleven goals. This style of running play prompted Kevin Sheedy to select Simpson for the Australian International Rules team for the 2006 tour of Ireland, and Mick Malthouse to do likewise for in 2008, a series in which he won the Jim Stynes Medal.

By 2007, Simpson had emerged as one of the leaders of the club. He captained the Blues between Rounds 14 and 19 during 2007, in the absence of regular captain and vice-captain Lance Whitnall and Nick Stevens, and has been vice-captain to Chris Judd since Stevens' retirement.

Two more years to life membership.

Fantastic player.

Marc Murphy says hello.

Murphy can take a backseat. Might be the better player but Simpson's leadership cannot be questioned.

Have nothing but admiration for Kade. Never takes a backwards step, has courage that belies his size and an knack for standing up when the team is down. I'd go as far as saying that he plays his best footy when the rest of his teammates is struggling. Last time he missed a game we had the likes of Glenn Bowyer and Brett Johnson in our 22.

Don't care what anybody else says, will go down as one of the club's greatest clubmen and servants.

And shits all over that Stanton spud.

You lost me there

For the right price I believe they are tradeable, Simmo to me is the heart and soul of our club, and would be valued higher within the 4 walls of PP than he would be elsewhere. To me he is untradeable.

Let them think he's terrible. Then they can leave him free like St Kilda did in Round 24. :D

Damn straight.

Simmo is just an inspirational player, not only for someone who stands up and gives his all, but for such a small/thin player (dare I say as a footballer he's a little unusual) his work ethic and will to succeed as he has is a huge thing. Not to mention bravery.

Trade Simmo, you would be trading a huge part of the soul that is the Carlton Footy club.

Spot on, Simmo is the type of player people take for Granted, I think its because he goes about his business week in week out without fuss. I would be shattered if he was traded.
