I actually think Goodwin has been one of our better players in the first three rounds of this year. The "I told you so"s are premature.

I can't see the point in trading him. He'll stick around longer than Ricciuto and McLeod, so in a few years time Goody should be our number one midfielder.

And on McLeod (I know this has been discussed a bit lately)... with the benefit of hindsight, he would've been the guy to trade 6 months ago. It was obvious back then he was on the decline, but he was still highly rated, and had just collected 18 brownlow votes and his contract was up to boot. His trade value wont be anywhere as good in 6 months time.

I was referring more to my comments in response to you rather than my comments about Goodwin - who still should've been put on the table at tradeweek:

Secondly, Is our list fine? Carey and Burns are the wrong side of 30 and have a history of injury problems - and they're both very important to our forward setup.

Hart and Smart are getting on and their form this year has been roundly questioned - yet they're our two best defenders...

Bickley is still a key member of our midfield rotation and he is near retirement.....

Clarke is 31 next season, is our key ruckman with only Biglands and Ben Marsh to back him up.....

Stevens looks just about shot with his bad knees and other injury woes...

Welsh is injury-prone...

And the only rookies we've given a vote to this season are Skipworth, Reilly, Schuback, Trentschel and Rutten.

Sure the list is fine now... but what about next year and the year after that?

Agree re McLeod. What a disappointment.

I agree.

I really don't understand this lets get rid of Goody phase that a lot of people on this board are going through.

I could understand becky's outbreak if Goody was not performing but he was one of our best players if not best before getting injured. He was set for a big year.

Now if Goody was crap like a lot of our other so called stars I would understand this but he was one of our better players in the games before injury.

dyertribe - I didn't know you could see into the future!

C'mon tell us, where will we finish on the ladder - and what will happen in the trading period?

I dont really like the Crows, but he is one player I do admire.
I am with you Jacqui, Goodwin would walk into any side and I would love to see him in a Port guernsey. Port need another class midfielder and IMO would trade one of our KPP (excluding Tredrea and Cornes) or ruckmen for him. I don't think the Crows would be that foolish to trade away another top midfielder.

Mitch, I doubt that we'd give up a KPP for Goodwin considering that we are in the process of building a new defensive structure. As for the rucks, apart from Ackland (who, on present form, would not be valuable enough) who would you suggest trading?

That said, I also think that Goodwin would fit in well at Port. I just don't think that we'd be prepared to give up any player that Adelaide would be likely to demand for him.

If it were up to me, I would be prepared to give up Lade and Bishop for Goodwin - that's how highly I rate Goodwin as a midfielder. As my good mate Kane McGoodwin knows, I think highly of Ackland and believe that he is about make his mark in the AFL. Ruckmen usually take longer to develope.

I'll have a go
a) 10th
b) we'll trade a 2nd/3rd round pick and/or a fringe player for yet more fringe players.

If that's what you'd trade then I don't think you do rate Goodwin that highly.

I can't speak for the rest of the Crows fans but I would expect younger and more valuable players for Goodwin. Otherwise there wouldn't be any point trading him.

Mitch, you can keep your beloved Ackland. Wouldn't mind the Crows getting hold of some younger talent - eg. White, Pettigrew, Salopek, etc ... but I just can't see it happening.

Stiffy, yes I have a carton on the line with Mitch re: Ackland (not) becoming an AA ruckman. He doesn't owe me just yet as Cain is still on the Port's list ... only he is playing for the Port Magpies not Power! ;)

Any chance of putting a carton or 3 on for me as well Kane ?? ;)

Would still not trade Goody to the paps for any of their 2nd tier players,

Now the Cornes boys just might temp my taste buds if they were offered.

I don't want Goodwin, he's panicky in clearing and misses targets too often. I'd rather put another couple of years into Cassisi than trade good players away. We don't want to be the next Crows in trading for too many middle-age players
