Beveridge has won more finals, has also got his team to another grand final outside of his premiership year and in general play much better footy.

Goody is statistically the worst premiership coach of the 21st century (and possibly beyond). He's the only Premiership coach that has not got his team to another grand final outside of the flag year (well McRae is the only other one, but much shorter tenure). Goody also has the least amount of finals wins out of all them (except for McRae, but again, much shorter tenure)

You can't be a completely shit coach if you win a flag, but facts are he's turned a premiership list into 4 years of linear regression with no finals wins and now two successive bottom 5-6 finishes.
There's nothing wrong with a premiership coach leaving, by that logic Simpson would still be at West Coast, Clarko would still be at Hawthorn, Horse would still be at the Swans etc. there just comes a team where their time is up and they need to freshen it up

I thank him for the flag but it's flipping clear that he's not taking us forward and we need a new voice. He looks tired, the players look tired, the fans are certainly tired , the drop off is going to be huge if he stays on again.

I was going off the 21st century but since the 80s is even worse lol

Essentially this means that no coach has done so little with a premiership winning list than Goodwin

McRae has also had a much shorter tenure, and it's pretty clear that he's a better coach than Goody.

Any serious club would sack a coach that has had 4 straight years of linear regression

Yep Goodwin has screwed the list, sell farms to move up the draft only to pass over player like curtin, give away quality players for chips then draft spuds from other clubs. He is a dead set plodder in everything he's done

Simpson I believe was the only premiership winning coach to ever be sacked by the same club. That is excluding Norm Smith who was sacked for bizarre political reasons but eventually reinstated.

If I were the board I would ask for his resignation. He'll likely forfeit some money but surely the parties come to an agreement.

He cannot be coach next week.
