Nah - the documentary that tried to bury him indicated the money came a significant amount of time after the case was thrown out.

As long as you guys keeps denying it ( as some amazingly still do - see Malibu - suprising ), the more people like me will bring it up. Everytime Port supporters or someone from in the club portray your club as houlier than thou, you will be reminded of this incident.

Not denying something happened, but dont believe any posting on here have the full story (as I dont). I also don't believe the story is as black and white (without the prison bars) as some would like to paint. Ie from the information I have had Burgoyne is not as guilty as some would like to suggest, while the girl was by no means an angel throughout the incident.

I think the big issue is that Burgoyne needed to be more selective about the friends he kept (and I dont mean O'Loughlin)

So why are you claiming "sounds fair". He didnt bet on any games he was involved in. I doubt there would be a suspension. If he was betting on games he was involved in (or any type of match fixing) then I would say to throw the book at him.

Other than that a fine for all players involved provided it didnt involve their team is a fair punishment. My opinion would be the same if it was a Power player and not a crows players

Just a rumor but apparently at least 2 other high profile AFC players are involved ... not sure if you're allowed to name names here but i will say allegedly the players first names are .... Mark & Scott.

I wouldnt be surprised as I know first hand that the two guys you mentioned and goodwin are always gambling in the casino together. The stiffmeister sometimes goes along for the ride, but its just usually those three in the casino on the black jack tables.

My workmate is a avid blackjack player and he has seen them in there countless times. It is usually late (ie about 2am on a weeknight)

There will be no suspension, he will cop a fine and this will be forgotten in 2 weeks time, provided he doesn't do it again. He will not carry a criminal record for the offence and neither should he. He has not tried to tamper with games or fix them in any way. Stupid behaviour, but hardly earth shattering.

As for Roo, he has a back strain, which should be right in a few weeks-big deal. I know you guys delight in injuries to our key players, but all this does is show that (with notable exceptions), most Port supporters on this board lack class and have no dignity. I would rather the Crows play a team at full strength, so there are no excuses, whereas you would rather play teams at half strength to get your 12th placed side over the line.

The at the end of your post just serves notice to all that you are a piece of human filth.

This is a far more serious issue than you have made it out to be and the AFL should throw the book at him to ensure a significant deterent to others.

What would be of huge concern to the afl is if goodwin is leaking inside knowledge to various third parties who are betting on crows games. Wherever you have organised betting you have organised crime trying to get thier slice. Footy players who own pubs often associate with underworld figures and it would worth huge amounts of money to obtain this sort of information. This sort of thing has occured in other sports and it has completely destroyed thier credibility. You are a silly boy simon "hanse conje" goodwin. Prepare to accept your punishment.

rules are rules, there is to be no betting on afl games by afl players regardless of what club they come from.
There will be penalties im merely throwing out my opinion and you treat as if im being smug. Id be naieve to believe that port players haven't bet on games, but they were obviously more discreet. goodwin got caught and his only redemtion is that he didnt bet on crows games. so it begs the question and i hope you can give me an answer, why would he bet on afl games knowing he would break the rules (remember his bets were in the range of the average workers yearly salary)?

Oh please you are the biggest hypocrite in the world like half your supporters didn't cheer when they found out Tredrea or Burgoyne were injured. Halfwit why don't you wake up??!!? I don't take any pleasure in seeing a player from any team getting injured even collingwood. I will be furious if any port player/s are caught betting on afl games (port games or not) and i certainly wont be defending any player blindly.

iv stated b4 that it would be silly to think no power player has bet on afl games, they just werent stupid enough to do it in thier own name or in person perhaps.

it is corrupt and to a lesser extent fraudulent and some could draw comparisons to insider trading, its these reasons its against the rules.

from joining the dots from what i hear it seems that at the crows it may have been part of the culture the golden rule being its ok as long as you dont bet on your own team.
