The secret behind Presti's form revival are pretty obvious at you look at history.

Most backmen have played their best football towards the end of their career, and in fact have improved even in their 30's, just like Presti.

Plus Presti is fit, even in the past when he has been fit, he has been one of the most effective full backs of the last decade, yet this year as many have said he has added a little more run to his repertoire.

You've gotta love it when Presti gets the ball and tries to run with it, even if your heart is in your mouth a fair bit.:thumbsu:

Presti is the perfect professional.

He trains and prepares as if the next game is his last.

His bone crunching bump on Rischetelli v the Lions was awesome.

Against the Blues earlier this year he copped a stinger in the opening minutes, then popped his shoulder in the last quarter.

Presti just kept playing and kept Fevola goal less.

You know the All Australian selectors won't consider him cos he's not "flashy" like Scarlett and the unaccountable one Fletcher in years past.

I think Matthew Pavlich will be a shoe-in ahead of Presti for full back :p

Hehe, probably not too far off, seeing as Pavlich is a certainty for the AA team yet no one actually knows what position he plays, even after 9-10 years.

The fact Presti only plays one position and just does was a "traditional" FB does will probably hurt him.

And, of course, he wears a Black and White jumper, not exactly a pre cursor to AA selection.

I'd love to see him win AA selection, but I think I would take even more pleasure out of seeing him kick another goal. Like when Wakes kicked a goal against Carlton a few years back, I just about fell off the top deck of the Ponsford stand.

Anyone else find this thread ironic after the pasting Presti got at the start of the year on here. I wonder where the "Presti is past it and should have retired crew" are now?? Goes to show you never write off a champ. Can't help but see the similarities to Presti's scenario then and Rocca atm....

Don't see the irony at all. The problem people have with Rocca isn't that he doesn't have the ability to 'do it' any more but that he can't do it consistently. He will be carried most weeks and tear it up some weeks and that's not good enough.

Presti's been consistent his whole career which meant that if he came back from injury that shouldn't have been a concern for him. Rocca, as important as he was was inconsistent at his best and that's where the problem is. Very very different scenarios....

i don't write much. But i love Presti. I calll him RICHO KILLER to spite my tiger follower brother in law. I LOVE PRESTI. My favourite player by far at the Pies.

Presti is a highly underated stopper. He is definitely one of the elite backmen in regards to blanketing a forward. I have to disagree with him being better than Scarlett though as Scarlett does the blanketing and runs off his opponent as well. Presti does become a rabbit in the headlights when he gets the ball under a bit of pressure unlike Scarlett.

I don't know why Presti's skills are rated as poor. I cant remember him doing to many bad kicks or handballs or even just bombing it when under pressure. He doesn't kick it that far and it doesn't look that good(his style not the way the ball moves through the air) but more often then not he hits his targets. If we had a gun side like Geelong then I'm sure he would get rated higher then he does now. But we are a side of workers and he is the head worker and it doesn't have the flair of others so we get over looked. Who here thinks in the end Swan and Pendleberry will make the side? They should but they wont.

On form for the whole season thus far it would be hard to leave them out. But pies do get a bums wrap with the AA would probably be one or the other. If the season stopped today I would be totally gutted in Leon didn't get in either.

Absolutely in AA form.

If the side was picked now he would be in contention.

We all know he will probably not ever get in the side - he doesnt do the flashy things other fullbacks do such as Scarlett with his runs and long kicking - plus everyone has a thing for Scarlett.....

Presti does his job and nullifys the FF we dont call him the glove for no reason - an absolute gem and will always be underrated but i have a feeling Presti himself doesnt worry too much he knows how highly rated he is by the club and us supporters.

I think you are pretty spot on.:D

maybe he never got the big wraps because he shared the backline with Jimmy who was a deadset gun. but it gives me a stack of confidence having Presti there. i love how FF's who have played on him for 10 years reckon he has never said a word to them. Actions speak loudest with Presti.

If the All-Australian side was picked on goals against then he would be first picked every year.

The guy is the human glove and shuts down everyone to the point I can't remember a bag being kicked on him yet.

But the AA side is picked on profiles first.

Presti is an absolute gun & we missed him badly last year. He's the cornerstone that the defence is built around. The form he's in now, he's definitely got some more seasons left in him.

He should hes a very underated and no ones notices him that much he doesnt get many possesion but either do his opponents. The Human Glove!
