We should just buy North and make sure they finish 9th every year.I love the fact that our club is so cashed up that we will always have the funds to retain a coach.

Gone by the bye, fold the club!
my sentiments too...way to go!Three peat first, then, begrudgingly, he may go.
North are nuts if they go for Horse. He strikes me as a bloke who is having trouble keeping up with the tactical side of the game and they need a coach who will mentor and shape a new generation of players - club stalwart and legend who comes in with the expectation of immediate success would be bad news. They need to go find the pick of the litter from the next generation of assistants etc.
So, from current assistant coaches, who would be most likely? Longmuir? Caracella?
Mitchell gets plenty of attention, but surely he needs to serve a decent apprenticeship first.
Sounds like a big part of the reason the Kangaroos don't want Scott anymore is that they want to bottom out properly and rebuild. I'm not sure on what basis Longmire would be the best candidate for that. Sydney have picked up plenty of quality juniors over the last few years who aren't coming along as well as expected. So, from current assistant coaches, who would be most likely? Longmuir? Caracella?

If I was in the Kangas position I wouldn't be looking at any of the current gettable AFL coaches. Pick one of the highly rated assistants from another club, give him licence to do his thing and if it doesn't work out maybe don't wait 10 years to try again.
I agree. There are too many other multipliers that offset the benefits of gaining the best junior talent. When you're a good team, players from other teams want to play for you, memberships and sponsorships are easier to sell, good experienced players make the transition to the top level easier for younger players, you get your pick of assistants etc.I think you're right, but they should probably ask Melbourne or Carlton about how effective bottoming out is.
Of if they want to go global why don't they go and ask the 76ers about The Process.
Now look a club like Carlton. Even if you thought you were the best coach in the universe, would you want to stake your career on taking on that job?
I do have my tin foil hat on, and I reckon the Vic media might be throwing this up and around to throw us off our game.
An "I might move" situation, regardless if it's a real situation or not, makes for unstable team spirit. Not saying that it'd work but hey.
Disagree. I don't think North are in as bad of a position as it is being made out.North are nuts if they go for Horse. To be fair, most of the media I have seen has been along the likes of "Simpson would be top of their list but no chance". And rightly so.No media conspiracy with this one. It’s a natural connection for them to make for a past club champion successfully coaching elsewhere to be considered as an option for the now vacated coaching position
If they persist with it over the coming months however

Think people are getting a bit tin foil hat about this one.
I think that the Roos need to have a complete clean-out of coaching staff and recruiting personnel. To be fair, most of the media I have seen has been along the likes of "Simpson would be top of their list but no chance". And rightly so.

Now we should not be too cruel. If you needed a date and had the phone number for Miranda Kerr/Kendall Jenner/Gisele Bündchen, would you make the call?
Of course you would - never get if you don't ask. Just ask Tom Brady.
Now what are my chances with one of them saying yes?
About the same as Simmo saying yes.
What more could Simmo want? Kids are settled, built a new house near the beach (and not to be confused with that shitty bay they call a beach in Melbourne), new club facilities, team play in front of 55k each week, built a winning culture, has a quality list (OK so we still need to learn to draft midfielders), more flags looking likely in the next 5 years.
What kind of snake? One that bakes?Better chance of getting kicked to death by a snake.
