The poor have won the "Class Struggle" derby!

For round 1 we travelled to Spotswood Oval to take on the Ophidian Old Boys. We got out of the gates slow, trailing behind the Old Boys by a goal in both the first and second quarter. But we got our groove on in the 3rd, kicking 5 goals to nil in a complete demolition job. We coasted in the 4th to a 29 point victory, getting us off to a good start in season 39.

• tigs2010 was superb in the midfield with 23 disposals and 10 marks in game 100
• spookism beat Turbo in the ruck (13 to 10 hitouts)
• BloodySwan was instrumental in middle with 5 tackles and 8 frees for
• damicky started his FRED medal chase off well with a 5 goal haul
• GotTheGoodes ant555 Ticky009 and myself all got plenty of the ball as well, netting 20+ disposals each
• Power Raid (3 goals), Firestarter (2 goals), MrsEddieBetts (2 goals), Ant Bear (3 goals) and sataris (2 goals) all did well in front of goals.

On the posting side of things, we had 14 Swamprats turn up in the match thread and we managed to post 412 times as a team. Led the way by me with 100 big ones. damicky jackster83 and Firestarter all put up 50+ posts. MrsEddieBetts wasn't far behind with 41, then ant555 GremioPower spookism GotTheGoodes and tigs2010 all also posted more than 10 times.

Round 2 we face the Bears at home.

The Undergrounders have won the "Las Carraras" derby!

For round 2 we played at home against the Las Vegas Bears who were also coming off a round 1 victory, so whichever team won was going to be having a very good start to the season. The Bears got out of the gates strong, blitzing us in the first quarter, but we got back onto equal ground by half-time. Then with our superior rat running capabilities, we ran over the top of them in the second half to win by 26 points.

• damicky was a man on a mission at Full Forward, kicking 7 goals and is now 2nd in the FRED (just one goal behind Yakker )
• tigs2010 continued his magnetic start to the season with 22 disposals, putting him 7th in total disposals for the season so far
• MrsEddieBetts impressed again from the forward pocket, netting another 2 goal game
• spookism dominated the ruck with 10 hitouts, and also pushed forward to kick a goal
• jackster83 bounced back after a poor opening round, gathering a team high 12 handballs
• Power Raid was instrumental from Half Forward with a game high 7 marks

On the posting side of things, Firestarter was our most prolific with 86 posts. I was just behind them with 63, then damicky jackster83 MP_ posted 20+ as well. GremioPower ant555 spookism GotTheGoodes BloodySwan MrsEddieBetts all posted double digits. We were a little down on round 1 (323 in R2 compared to 412 in R1), but we still had the same 14 posters show up which is good.


2nd on the ladder with 2 wins in a row and a healthy percentage. It's early days but our season is looking good.

Round 3 we face Furies away at their hippodrome or whatever they call it. Let's keep the win streak going.

We the players and management of the Alberton Qootball Club accept the heritage which players and administrators have passed down to us. In so doing we do not intend to rest in idleness but shall strive with all our power to further the drunken revelries of our forebears.

To do this we believe -
There is great honour and merit in getting booze when it is on special
That to be drunk one must consume at least 5 standard drinks per hour

We believe that inebriation is well within our reach and that each member of both the team and management will suffer hangovers for the common end.

Also we know that should we, after drinking as much as possible, still not reach a state of alcohol poisoning our efforts will become a further part of this clubs noble tradition.

Finally we concede that there can be honour in being half cut, but to each of us honourable semi inebriation can come only after the endeavour to score enough beer and spirits has been completely exhausted.

Round 3​

Travelling to Furies HQ we were on a high after 2 wins on the trot. A good first quarter, but we fell away in the last 3 quarters and ended up losing by 32 points in what was a wake up call for us.

Round 5 ​

Fresh off the bye the previous week, we faced the Demons and we utterly destroyed them. They could barely even touch the ball in the first half as we piled on 9 goals 6 behinds to their 2 goals 1 behind. We ran away as 77 point victors, reclaiming our winning ways.

• GotTheGoodes had a huge 39 disposals and 10 mark performance off the wing. Also snagged a goal.
• sataris was our saviour in the final moments with a last minute goal to put us in front. Also dominated during the rest of the game with 24 disposals and a game high 13 marks.
• damicky keeps on impressing in front of goals with another 5 goal performance
• MrsEddieBetts didn't touch the ball at all, but was involved in a scuffle that caused a free for and a free against.

Only 9 of us showed up last week. Hopefully we get some more this week when we play the Bombers.

DOUBLE HEADER AT RENOWN PARK!​

Renown Park will be the venue for TWO games of Qootball this weekend, with the clash between Alberton and the R.O.I. preceding the top tier event. This is made possible through collaboration between the Roys FFC and the SPAM FL, with the blessing of the Sin City team.

Earlier in the day - probably kindah lunch timish - the Alberton Swamprats will meet the Rabbledom of Imbibers on the park, followed by the long-time Sweet FA rivals not far behind.

In the SPAM FL, the Alberton team have had a slow start, playing two games without success. At the other end of the table, the R.O.I. have enjoyed 3 wins and sit 2nd.

There will be opportunities to watch our dew-kicking stars vie for an upgrade. What a great way to get into the zone for the Sweet FA MOTR!

One man SPAM FL despot and dictator AnUltimateRessie has graciously agreed to hook me up with the ability to bring you the reserve match (yes, I'll host) unless we can find another patsy somewhere who wants to do it
