Shouldn't be playing this week - he was awful last time out against Hawthorn.

Normally I've got nothing against a youngster getting a series of chances but I thought Rounds, although he didn't star, was far more composed and much more useful last week. Sinclair seemed to stuff it up every time he got it or panic and not give himself the chance to get it wrong or right....Not a fan.
 
I like Sinclair's energy and enthusiastic tackling game. Has some pace.

But there just isn't enough substance to his game. Kicking very poor. By hand not nearly as good as he needs to be. Not a ball winner. Lacks size. Endurance below average.

I don't see a role in any team that he is good enough to perform and he just doesn't do enough to a high enough level.

His development while it hasn't been non-existent has been minimal which suggests limited footballing growth to come.

Just hasn't done anything to suggest that he will make it.


It is clear that the club have a different perspective and rate him more highly than I do which is what is important. But whether we are just trying him to see if he can produce or whether the coaching staff genuinely rate him I cannot answer.

IF they are trying Sinclair if he can play AFL footy rather do it now then do it late in the Season
 
Sinclair is playing because he played well against Hawthorn despite what people who didn't watch the game are saying. His commitment to the footy was 100% and he wasn't in our worst two players on the ground. In fact he wasn't even close.
Dropping Sinclair after the commitment he showed would be a poor example to the other players. His endeavour was what Buckley would expect of any player out on the ground.
In saying that he doesn't have the ability of most, reminds me a lot of "Rudy" what he lacks in ability he makes up for with heart. If he could Bulk up a bit it would go a fair way.
He will probably be out of the team, a long with some of the other in experienced players for the Carlton match because of the ins we have coming back.

Caff was horrible in his first rookie year. Half way through his second rookie year the penny dropped. I dont see a drama with giving Sinclair (or any player unless they are REALLY horrible) three years. Would rather him than Buckley this year, who has now been in the system for 5 odd years.

I seem to remember that Caff was the leading goalkicker in the TAC cup playing as a short KPP.

Was never going to play that role at AFL level so he needed to rediscover a role to survive, but always had enough of something to make it.
Similar story to Cameron Ling who also, IIRC was the leading goalscorer at TAC level.

Personally i would rather have Buckley in than Sinclair, but would rather neither.
 
It all comes down to Sinclair's kicking while in play. He can take a good mark, he's quick, he goes hard at the ball, his handballing is ok, but his kicking is D grade at best. I'm not sure what it's like when he has time after a mark, but on the run he often shanks them really badly. I'm not sure it's something he can improve. If he could he would be a decent player, but it's a massive downside to his game.
 
I knew as soon as i opened this thread, i would be annoyed.

Why do we attack our own players?

Why don't we trust our coaching staff in picking the team?

Some so called fans really piss me off.

Suddenly supporters arnt allowed to give their true honest opinions about their teams players? every clubs supporters in the world do that... At least were not like Carlton essendon ect who boo their own players. Its fine to have negative thoughts about some players on ur team.

No doubt we can discuss our players weaknesses. I just get the shits that we are attacked from every angle and i expect us to support every player that pulls on the black and white.

Some of the crap i read is unbelievably derogatory. I will support every great man that runs out for our great club and always support whoever is picked.

You only have to read some of the posts in this thread.

Thats what it is being discussed. Sinclairs weaknesses. I'm not sure anyone has been unbelievably derogatory. Perhaps critical would be a better word to use. Derogatory would be along the lines of he is a shit bloke. The criticism in this thread largely revolves around Sinclairs kicking skills, composure with the ball and decision making. All are more than reasonable criticisms on Sinclairs exposed form. Just because weaknesses are acknowledged by people doesn't mean they don't support the team or Sinclair when he pulls on the jumper and runs onto the field for us.

Heart as big as Australia, but couldn't hit a target of the same size with his preferred foot on the run.

If Buckley really does value foot skills, he'll be in the VFL now for a while.
 
Was disappointed in Sincs tonight. Would Be surprised if he was in the team next week.

I feel sorry for him, he's the nicest guy and he works his arse off but it's his kick that let's him down every time.
