Heart as big as Australia, but couldn't hit a target of the same size with his preferred foot on the run.

If Buckley really does value foot skills, he'll be in the VFL now for a while.

Can't fault his endeavor, but agree.
Too damn slow to assess his options when he has it.
He's young. Plenty of time.
I'd rather see Roids back in if he's fit.

Kicked one lovely apss to a leading forward early on tonight.

Does try his guts out, so you can forgive a fair bit after that.

I think when his awareness improves eg getting run down by Maric, and realising he has a bit more time to steady before he kicks he may be OK, because he does get the ball in his hands a reasonable amount.

But yeah, BJ likely in next week.

I don't mind Sinclair, I think he has the tools to be a handy player. He may not be up to AFL standard at the moment but give him another season and a few more games and he will become a solid player.
Reminds me of a young Ben Johnson.

u can add tom young, simon buckley and maybe luke rounds on that list.

These three players looked ordinary in the VFL. Sinclair is nothing like a young Ben Johnson. Four players look likely to be delisted even at this early stage. The next young guy to experiment with is Marley Williams and beyond him the VFL team had little to offer today.

Problem with Marley is that he can't kick that well either.

Straying off topic a little here, but seeing as he's been mentioned a couple of times, what's happening with Young in the VFL? He seemed to be showing plenty of signs of becoming a decent footballer as a kid.

Is it his disposal? Is it pace? Awareness?

My Dad will be bummed if he doesn't progress into senior football as he's always rated him for some reason. I, however, just haven't seen much of him.

To be honest I didn't think he was 'that' bad last night. Got a bit of it in the first half. Obviously his kicking is bad and he is slow (as run down by Maric) but he tries he's hardest.

I am fairly slow these days. I never could hit a target by foot. But there ain't no better trier than me.

Aha, my dream of becoming an AFL footballer is alive! :D

You make him sound like one of those kids in primary school who comes last in a school sport, but receives a ribbon for participating.

The AFL is supposed to be the pinnacle of Australian Rules Football. He isn't near that level in my opinion skill wise.

The thing about him is if his disposal was more accurate and he was more confident, we'd have a fantastic player. The amount of times he busts his gut running to chase someone down or he goes straight into the contest and fishes out the ball is hard to ignore.

I have a feeling the coaching staff will persist on him, maybe not in the seniors for the time being, but I definately think he will be here beyond the end of this season.

Give him a bit more time, still only has played 5 or 6 games. I know for a fact he is signed until the end of next year, so we still have time to develop him a lot more. I think composure is his key, gets a bit flustered

Agree, early days to write the kid off yet.

Most of the things he appears to lack at the moment can be coached - the thing he does have in spades is a great attitude, so you never know exactly how things will pan out.

I'm still apprehensive as to why Young isn't getting a run ahead of him? He definitely showed a lot more than Sinkers last season.

I don't mind Sinclair because he busts his gut. He got caught out twice in the first half playing from behind and they rebounded off it, but I noticed after half time that didn't happen so obviously he was spoken too. I'd be happy to see him lock down on Yarran this week, might be a good way to mould him, though I do like players kicking goals on Yarran because it starts to confuse him.

Of all the under 10 games group I'd leave him in, Paine doesn't have AFL fitness yet, Seedsmans reacting at VFL level, Keefe I have hope for so happy he gets a game and any of the others I can't think of can stay in VFL this year.
Only would be happy to see Ugle come up at some time since he fits a need.
