Perspective.

He's had five sub standard performences littered with unforgivable errors, he plays one reasonable game and the tides are turning? People were wrong? Even on Friday night he made an error an under twelves coach wouldn't forgive.

I wish him the best but he has been terrible this year. If we had a full team he wouldn't be in it, not close. If 1 percenters were enough, jaxson barham would have three brownlows. If being a poor kick was fine, mark mcgough would have been elite. If being shit but trying hard made you good then Darren Fletcher would be better than Zidane (not saying Darren's actually shit, I'm just speaking comparatively).

What does Sinclair do that Barham didn't do better? Seriously? He was quicker, better at finding the ball, tackled at least as well. He just couldn't kick, either can Sinclair.

And what was this huge error you speak of? If you are referring to when he got run down from Djekkura coming of the bench then you are laughable, he is not the first player and won't be the last to get run-down from a player coming off the bench. If that's the only flaw you can pick in his game then it does suggest he was bloody good.

And on their kicking, technically as I've said numerous times, Sinclair is a good kick, it's all about decision making for him. As for Barham, he was always flawed...

He gets to dangerous places. Its inate. It doesn't mean he has made it but a bloke that continuously bobs up in contested situations to have shots at goal shouldn't be sneezed at. He needs to convert on a more regular basis but its a quality that lends itself to perserverance

Cant tell if serious or trolling....

Everyone accepts sinclair has good and bad attributes.. his bad attributes obviouslly are bigger which is why his a low draft pick... and one of his BAD attributes is DEFINITELY his kicking. his in the team because of other things he does better than most, if he was a GOOD KICK as u suggest (trying not to laugh) he'd be a young gun in a similair catagory to dangerfield or martin. Unfortunatly this is far from reality.

Read it in context, was talking about his technique in comparison with Barham's...

he was saying he has a good kicking technique... which translates to being a good kick.

if u have a bad kicking technique ur a bad kick, and vice versa. They mean the same thing.

I'd say Ben Johnson is a good kick, technically it looks shocking, but always gets to its intended target..

Anyway let's wait until Benny's performance tomorrow to continue this debate ;)

See how much of an influence he has against a real team. Geelong in two weeks. Tipping he won't get near it!

Just quietly that may have something to do with the fact he's an 8 game forward pocket that weigh's 75kg wringing wet. What do you expect him to do come out and blitz it or something

Hell a 12 year 200+ game veteran with the best skills of any player we've had for almost 2 decades used to struggle with those games!

I don't think it's too much to ask considering how that young fellow Jack Watts has set the footy world alight.;)

Really, we are becoming quit unrealistic in some of our expectations.
I'd be surprised if Sincers would even know what to do with a naked woman.
He's a boy or God's sake.

What should he be doing? He may like boys, not that there's anything wrong with that

I don't consider myself to be "laughable." I might say some laughable things, kinda like when you say that Sinclair is not a poor kick.

The error I was talking about was when he was under no pressure and all he needed to do was to lob it 35 metres over an opposition player's head to a guy in miles of space inside the forward 50. What does he do? He grubbers it along the ground. He's been making mistakes like that all year. He is, simply put, a terrible kick of the football.

Also, I hate it when people say, "his technique is good so he can be a good kick, it's just his decision making." He has a poor kick period....and poor decision making. You can't tell me when he's twenty five metres out, bearing down on goal and he hits the behind post on the full that he's made the wrong decision. He was clearly going for goal which was the correct decision to make. He just couldn't execute.

Also, good kicking technique does not translate to a good kick. As stated above, Ben Johnson has a diabolical kicking action but is a good kick. There would be millions of people in the world with the same running technique as Usain Bolt but I don't know of one who can run as fast as him. Technique and ability do not always translate to the same result.

I agree. I'm not saying we should give up on him, I'm not even potting him. I just think that one slightly above average performance amongst 5 other terrible ones does not mean that he has justified his place in the team. He has been poor. He has shown signs though.

Before the hindsight hero's come in and start saying "I told you so", I'd just like to say that Sinclair has been solid so far tonight. He looks as though he's starting to believe in himself a lot more.
Well done young fella!

I posted this back in December 2009. People doubted me at the time, including TradeDraft who has constantly slagged him off since day one. Keep up the good work Sinkers.

This kid has serious speed, and some freakish natural ability. Has heart and soul in spades, reckon he could be a serious player for us! Absolute steal, and great work by Hine.

Right on cue. :)

Haven't seen the first half but I hear he's tearing it up. Great to hear. Looking forward to seeing him in action in the second. :thumbsu:

He had a vote worthy first half but faded out in the second. Not unusuakl for young fellas.
He really put in in the first with tackling pressure.
May well have been why we were slower and less defensive in the second half.

All good signs for the young bloke though.

Very good game tonight from Sinclair has really settled in and tightened up his disposal.

Looks calmer ball in hand too.

Next week is the big test, but for mine the past two weeks are suggesting his horrible mistakes were nerve induced and not skill level issues.

I might have spoken too soon, he was invisible in the 2nd half aside from an errant kick switching across the backline. Still, he wasn't a liability.

Just from radio - seemed to be a pretty good first half and non event second half. Following on from last week, he's getting better each week.

He still provided plenty of pressure, just could not get hold of the ball as much.
Dids was getting it instead.:D

Yep, definitely agree that he was nervy and it wasn't the lack of skill. He's no longer the deer in the headlights. On ya Sinkers!

Giddy up.

It really looks like he was really nervy in his 1st few games. Does appear to be showing more poise as he goes along now.

Well done Sinkers.

Great to see the Pies board start to embrace him (similar to Tooves a few seasons ago)

Was glad to see him get a couple of goals early (a drop punt as well) Faded out in the second half but not too fussed. A few of our players played in patches (similar to all other games this year and last)

Looking forward to next week!
