I have believed since very early that this kid is worth persisting with. His speed and forward pressure have been bordering on the unbelievable since day one. As I said very early on I reckon with time and confidence the foot skills and the awareness will come too. I can't say enough about his effort on Friday and it's good to see him starting to get some kudos in this forum.

His only starting to get kudos because his only just starting to earn it.

Expect everyone to jump off the bandwagon soon once his foot skills come on display again, but his done enough to keep his spot and worth persisting with.

Ben sinclair has finally come of age wth his perfomance against the dogs he showed good signs against essenscum and this performance against the dogs has proved why he is in the side.

The problem with this is i now think that his good performance now puts the spotlight of criticism squarley on ugle after 2 less than impressive performances against essenscum and the dogs.

I dont agree. In most of his matches he has shown that he was very capable of getting to where the ball is, getting his hands on it and applying plenty of pressure going the other way. This has been a stand out pretty much since his first game. If coaches took the attitude of some people here no player would ever be given a chance to progress. As far as I am concerned he was well worth the effort from the start and that was pretty obvious to me as it clearly was to Bucks and a few others here.

Still not sold. For a little guy he has no awareness of players around him and his kicking is up there with the worst in the comp. Right now he is a safe starter only becase we have literally noone to take his spot. I wouldnt expect him to get a game in any other side in the top 10 and it's only through injuries that he is getting a game now. Some people on here laud his tackling and pressure but the reality is these are the only parts of his game that are up to scratch. One percenters are important but only when the players doing them are capable of executing skills that are more valuable - see goalkickers, hitting target, contested marking etc.

At least he is improving and will have the opportunity to improve more seeing as noone is pushing him out any time soon. Last week was clearly the best game he as played however he's still a huge liability. I think some people on her are getting carried away though given how horrendous he was in earlier games. He would have to improve 200% in order to be an asset and not a liability in a finals campaign

Still not sold, but no way will he get dropped any time soon. Plays the forward pressure role perfectly, Didak is not a forward pocket, so not really going to be dropped for him, and Fasolo is a completely different forward pocket player, who is more classy and less desperate.

Would love to see Jamie Elliot get some games, to really fight it out with sincers for that role, but i think one of them needs to be in the side. It is far form ideal, but with Krak and caff out for the season, and Balls injury making Blair a more permanent mid, Sinclair is one of the only options.

So the tide is turning....

Now we're going to hear how much they loved him all along.

Not from me.

I admitted I was turning around on him as I was quite vocal about how much I didn't like him.

But as I said earlier, I can most certainly see why he's in the side. Hopefully now that he's kick a couple (that he meant), the monkey will be off his back a la Jetta from Sydney.

I'm more than happy to admit I'm wrong if I'm legitimately proven wrong.

The thing is, if he is average against Brisbane, everyone will jump off the bandwagon as quickly as they got on last Friday night.

Young players don't gain experience and confidence on one night alone, it's the consistent games and performances that gradually build up those variables.

There will be a fair bit of pressure for him to back it up on Saturday now that we've seen what he is capable of, will be a good test for him.

Funny that; one-percenters aren't nearly as important as ninety-nine-percenters! Look, there's going to be a lot of talk about bandwagons and who's a fan and who's not, but he still hasn't shown he can routinely hit a target by foot, be it a player or a gap between posts. The two he got last week included a punt kick and a deflection. Until he shows he can execute a drop punt to league standard I'm a supporter rather than a believer.

It certainly appears he's going to get every chance to show what he's got, by virtue of having applied pressure and completed the assignments the coaching staff set for him. So we'll find out in time whether he's up to it or not.

Don't laugh.
If he keeps kicking two goals a game he'll be the next Dale Thomas with the 11-15 year old girls.
Have his own fashion label by the 2014.

I admit I have had my doubts but I am turning. We do need to see better kicking. The desperation and 1 %'s are great but for mine his biggest plus is something you can't teach. He keeps getting himself into dangerous positions near goal. Pace and that ability are keys to a goal kicking fwd pocket.

If he learns to finish we have a player

Next Dale Thomas? Never will happen.

Perspective.

He's had five sub standard performences littered with unforgivable errors, he plays one reasonable game and the tides are turning? People were wrong? Even on Friday night he made an error an under twelves coach wouldn't forgive.

I wish him the best but he has been terrible this year. If we had a full team he wouldn't be in it, not close. If 1 percenters were enough, jaxson barham would have three brownlows. If being a poor kick was fine, mark mcgough would have been elite. If being shit but trying hard made you good then Darren Fletcher would be better than Zidane (not saying Darren's actually shit, I'm just speaking comparatively).

What does Sinclair do that Barham didn't do better? Seriously? He was quicker, better at finding the ball, tackled at least as well. He just couldn't kick, either can Sinclair.
