Single best finals moment

I have one memory that stands out from the finals series many marvellous moments.

And that's Lachie neale taking the ball at full back and running it out. It was the first time I thought we are on -if a mid fielder is doing that much work, showing that much effort we can do this.

As far as singular moments go, I would personally have to say over a 2 minute span or whatever it was, is Joes 2 goals against GWS. It was just such a Joe moment that will forever live on in my memory.
I know it’s not a singular moment but that would be mine.


Followed closely by Cal AhChee’s goal just on 3/4 time in the Grand Final.
That was the moment where in my own mind, Sydney were never coming back from there.

Number 3. Would be Rayners final goal against Geelong.

Number 4. Cal’s goal 30 seconds before.

All unbelievable moments that just made up a fantastic month of Finals footy and I was there live for all of it.
Fantastic memories.

Cal's head on with Blakey and McCluggage storming past to drill it in the first quarter of the GF.

I sensed the Sydney players dropped their heads and it just seemed to me that we'd made a statement and had them.

Then the emotion of the last 2 goals against Geelong which were both clunkers immediately after feeling distraught as Geelong had just ripped the lead off us with not much time left.

Then Daniher's 2 goals against GWS which were epic.

Reading through the listed moments above just prove what an incredible finals series it was.

We’ll never see another like it again.

Answerth's clearance just before the goal against Geelong and Lester hitting McCluggage through the corridor in the GF are the other two non-goal moments that stick in my mind (since Cal bouncing off Blakey is already mentioned).

Pretty sure it was McCluggage hitting Lester.
Was a beautiful thing to watch.

Two of my favourites are already covered. McCluggage to Lester running through the centre square in the Granny and Cal’s goal after Charlie had his head taken off against the Cats, are right up there.

I’d like to also nominate Ashcroft carrying what seemed like the entire GWS team on his back to create a goal from nowhere in the Semi and Wilmot’s bone crunching tackle on Heeney. Isaac was done after that.

My head says that Joe's two goals against the Giants was the best moment.

But my heart probably goes the ones I saw live as well. Cal and Rayner's goals or Payne's tackle against the cats. Or Joe's finish to the GF

After not taking their moments in 2023, or more so, Collingwood just being better at taking theirs.

Rayner's running left foot bomb to seal the PF is spine tingling and will long live in my memory .

And of course there are highlights galore in the GF, already well covered in this thread

However those events never occur if not for Joe's brilliant 2 goals at the death to win the GWS semi for us.

SO Joe's heroics in that semi get the number one vote from me
