Shocking to think what may have happened to her. Still no closure for the family if she's met a terrible demise.

Wouldn't be surprised if there is more than one person involved and helping each other with alibis.

Hope they catch the perpetrator/s ASAP.

Her Mum has gone back to Thailand, too much for her I think. The stepfather has stayed but still as anxious today to find out what happened to her.

For those not familiar .

He's a buddhist.

Guy who does my gardening and maintenance has a kind of reverse mullet, I shave his head and braid his hair every week, send him home with dinner for the week. He's Canadian Cree Indian heritage, a very decent person and I'd never tell him I think he should cut it off.

Never was a huge amount of interest in this crime was there?

I'd thought that there was. It just seemed with this there was nothing to go on, a couple of reports of a man with tattoos seen and that was it. Pouffe. She was gone. No leads or uncovered family secrets, nothing.

That was the one where the would-be abductor was supposedly wearing a surgical mask? That alone made it a bit fishy...
Perhaps the would-be-abductor travelled back in time from 2020/2021 but forgot to remove his surgical mask?

It's scary as a parent to hear these stories. I used to walk or ride several kilometres to and from school from Grade 2 onward. It was a common thing. Probably not so these days.

Genuine, mystery child abductions like this are still extremely rare in Australia. **** there’s some mysteries however. Bung, Mr Cruel, the Beaumonts, William Tyrell.

Bung disappeared very close to the Sharon Wills location (where she was released, anyway) too.

I was in high school at the time of this case a couple suburbs over but for whatever reason a lot of my schoolmates were from Bayswater/Boronia. Was a bit older than Bung, one of my friends lived on the same street and his younger sister was friends with her.
In retrospect I don't think it was treated with the urgency you'd expect it to be... people talked about it but it wasn't 'top of the agenda' sort of stuff. I remember finding out about it because it was decided kids weren't allowed to hang her missing poster up on school grounds.

It's a perplexing case, basically no public evidence, as far as I know there's been nothing in Melbourne akin to it since - a comparable and lesser known case I can think of is the December 2000 disappearance of Cherie Westell who vanished off Selkirk Avenue/Wantirna Road in Wantirna South a couple suburbs from Boronia, she went to the same school as Bung, which according to 9news prompted police to investigate a possible link. If it is the same person behind these disappearances then that's over a decade between offences, which is not something you'd expect for what are assumedly sex crimes. But you also wouldn't expect for an offender to commit an abduction without some sort of escalation, or, I mean the perpetrator of Bung's disappearance likely had committed some sort of offence prior to abducting her - whether that offence is known to police or not - personally I lean towards someone that is not known to police given the lack of any known progress to the investigation

That makes me think about all the other concerning things I'd seen or heard about in the 20km stretch of the eastern suburbs that I grew up in. Gender separated PE 'bike classes' getting sent back to school early because there was a flasher waiting for them on the trail. A girl I knew getting teased because she got flashed on her way to school. Someone I know finding child p***ography on their step dad's computer, waking up in the middle of the night to him at the end of their bed. Seeing a man in a trance like state at Ringwood pools, right up the bleachers watching the girls diving team... there's way more, but perhaps the most relevant of all:

I was talking to a friend of my Girlfriend the other week, she's the same age as me and she's from Bayswater, next to Boronia. She told me when she was about 13 she was walking home from school and a white car boxed her in and a man attempted to abduct her, she thankfully escaped. When she went to police they pretty much waved her on, 'nothing we can do about that' sort of thing. A couple years later they called her into the station to get more details on her encounter because Bung was missing and presumed abducted, but by that time she was fuzzy on the exact details and wasn't of much assistance.

So I guess what I take out of that, is that none of us are probably going to solve this case, or Cherie Westell's, and it's also quite likely and possible that police won't either... but what we can do is as parents/uncles/aunts/neighbors is facilitate an environment for the next generation of kids where they can identify when an encounter with an adult isn't right, and that they can talk to us about it, and that there's no shame in that. So that less and less offenders can slip through the cracks, their behaviour escalating clandestinely.

The Sharon Wills abduction was only a stone’s throw away too.

Is it possible she was dragged into one of the houses along Elise street. when looking on google, I see alot to secluded drive ways, high fencing and hedgings.

Reading various news articles, the description of the cars varies.
On one hand, a white Holden Kingswood station wagon was seen. the second report, talks about a white Ford Falcon station wagon.
In all honesty it could have been a Holden Comodore station wagon for all we know?

I know personally I basically can't identify cars beyond the colour and sedan/hatchback/ute.
I just googled station wagon and if I was talking to police I'd probably call it a long car.

Her Mum has gone back to Thailand, too much for her I think. The stepfather has stayed but still as anxious today to find out what happened to her.

Thai's are so warm and friendly. Ive been to a few parties and dinners they have thrown. Lots of food and good times.
Unfortunately good people sometimes attract people with bad intentions.

Ive talked to a few Thai women, in some cases they have vented. Describing their experiences here in OZ. here are some-

"He beat me".. there was a case in port hughes SA recently, where an asian woman "Filipina" experienced domestic violence, it ended badly.
"He paid more attention to the my daughter"..
"He had a mistress and cheated on me".. I guess this happens every day
"He kept on going overseas without me".. some asian hotspots, we all know about
"He was like 50 when we met".. the girl was in her early twenties

Im not suggesting there were family problems in the Siriboon case

personally I would be looking at the group of friends, maybe a predator was amongst them

Good thinking, I wonder how hard the police looked in to that.
It’s been a decade, it’s nuts that we’ve had basically no insight into the investigation - makes you think/hope that means it’s a *very* active investigation, but we’ve got nothing apart from lack of insight to support that view.
