I heard on the radio that skippy has pulled a hammy and won't be available this week. With Johncock also not playing and hopefully Torney available I was thinking the following changes:
OUT:Skippy, Doughty
IN: Torney, Knights
EMERGENCY: Watts, Doughty, ?
Knights would be a good in to replace Skippy. Torney is an obvious return and I would drop Doughty rather than VB. VB impressed me on the weekend. He had a few turnovers from poor kicks, but in the second quarter he also hit Perrie lace out on the chest twice after running through tackles, and Tyson Edwards once. A great sign! He must stay!
Doughty had little game time and has not impressed me this season. Perhaps a reality check is in order.
My team then is:
FF: Welsh McGregor Edwards
HF: Thompson Perrie McLeod
C: Burton Roo Mattner
HB: Torney Bock VB
FB: Bassett Rutten Hart
1R: Hudson Goodwin Shirley
I/C: Knights, Biglands :( , Reilly, Hentschell

VB allows Macca to be released for a bit of fun! I would give Knights time on Burtons wing and also as HFF and some on ball. I think I would also play Bassett or Hart on Williams rather than Rutten.
Thoughts everyone?

i'd pretty much agree with those ins and out...

maybe VB may get the chop for Torney..Doughty does seem to be in NC's good books.
looking forward to seeing Knights have a run, and if he goes well Skippy may struggle to get back in. (and on the upside, Port Magpies are playing the Eagles this week so it will be one less headache for us haha).

just on the game, im hoping for a good, quick, swift response from the boys this week. the opening 15/20mins will tell us if they're switched on or not, and although we've had no success down in Tassie, im confident of a win. they'll need to jump Hawthorn though in order to have a good win...if the youngsters of the Hawks get their tails up, we could be in for a tight tussle.

should be a good game, weather permitting!

So let me get this straight. You are a magpies and crows follower? Must be one of the only?

I agree with your ins & outs but when the heck does Watts get a game ??

obviously none of you guys read the puff piece on shirley last week in the advertiser when he mentioned that doughty comes on to give him (shirley) a rest during the game. So Doughty is actually our second tagger and we need him in the side to support shirley.

yeah i am...and yes i know im strange!

but you'd be suprised, there are actually a handful of people like me... ;)

I heard last night that Welsh was in doubt? True??

We have nothing to lose and enjoy playing in Tassie, so it should be a good match...

Thank god Hodge is back :)

Agree with your changes. If it is true about Doughty and they have turned him in to Shirley's replacement tagger, I would drop Reilly, he is out of form and seems to be lacking confidence.

I'm very much a Skippy fan and hope this won't effect his selection in the side long term...but the prospect of having Knights in the team is too delicious.

Agree 100%. Reilly really struggled last week. If Welsh is in any doubt, I would use the opportunity to rest him and give big Ferg some serious game time.

Torney, Kinights in
Skipworth, Doughty out

- dont mind that. The emergencies should include a tall defender just in case Truck's back plays up like it did on the last trip to Tassie.

Good call. :)
Emergencies:
Watts (for Welsh if unfit), Doughty (if running player unfit), Begley (in case defender unfit)

I think with Skippy out this week the AFC have no choice but to select Knights and personally I cant wait to see him get a regular gig.

I think Watts needs to be given a go ASAP, maybe for an injured Welsh but if not I think throw him in the mix regardless. Although we are playing well, our forward line is still, by far our biggest downfaqll it is inconsistant as we saw on sunday. Watts would of been handy to have against Freo, something different, a big target in the goal square, someone not afraid to break some packs.
