Skipworth three goals in a quarter?

It's official: I can no longer take this match seriously.

Pure comedy. Especially that leg break third goal. Had me bursting out with laugher.
:D

That goal had me in stitches :D

Skippy played very well today. I would say its probably his best game for the club.

but PC it's not one swallow, he has been gobbling away for a while now. Everytime it's "well it's just one game, let's see him go on with it"; well it's his 2nd BOG in 3 games!!!!
not just ok, but probably best. He polled charlie votes last year to go with some 20 possie games. At this rate he is dirtier than Jenna.
:D PURE GOLD :D

Your second BOG but not mine.Yes he has been effective no doubt..but that missed handball/turnover must have elicited a groan not only from the people at Footy Pk but also those watching at home. Do you think my assessment is right in that he needs to sit down and believe in himself?
You can go on about that one missed handball but today I counted 5 clangers from Mattner and Shirley. That 5 clangers each and you won't hear about those clangers for Mattner because he is a favourite of some but someone like Skipworth will get ridiculed no matter what he does.

And to answer your question, YES he does need to beleive in himself more and I think I saw more of that today. In the last couple of weeks he would be afraid to have a ping for goal and would look to handball to a team mate even if the teammate is under pressure and in much worse position. Today he was actually a bit more selfish and I liked it. He went for it and it paid dividends. Good luck to the lad because he has been very good this year.

Yes, but now he is injured. He went down at the end of 4th quarter, Seconds before the siren, It's his ankle but it can't be broken cuz he was standing on it when they sang the club song. I hope he is okay! And yes, He did get BOG.

I still have my doubts about Skippy being a long term AFL player , but you have to give it to him, he has played some reaaly good footy this year.

Most of us would share these thoughts. Well done Skippy, and let's not forget that he is still only 22, lots of room for improvement there.

At least you're man enough to admit it.

I look at it this way; he was given another chance and now he has grabbed it.
Not bad eh with Mattner one week Shirley the next.... next week it will be Ladhams the lost cause of causes.

Hahaha, Skipworth.

He's slippery enough to require other teams to have a look at him now, but that just takes the pressure off someone else.

At least now I'm confident that the boy can kick over a jam tin. Perhaps it will give him some confidence as well.

Good to see Roo provide him with some guidance - great player and great captain.

Very relevant that last comment. Skippy was crapping himself and was desperately looking to give off as he didn't believe that he could kick the distance.

You could see Roo calming him down and telling him he COULD kick the distance. Well done by the skipper, and helped re-inforce the self-belief aspect that others have mentioned which is the make or break factor in being an AFL player.

Just on Skippy, I don't understand how some so-called supporters of the Crows can knock the little feller after his excellent start to the season.

Constructive criticism when warranted is one thing, but to put him down when he's going well is not on IMO.

Every dog has his day and at the moment Skippy deserves a big juicy bone!! :D

Now on to the Dees.

I was saying to myself "no way could he make the distance so pass it off lad" but he fooled me as much as he fooled himself.

I have been one of his biggest critics on this board but i am also willing to give due credit when credits deserved & Skippy has certainly made me eat a very large dose of humble pie with his performances on the field so far this year.

Well done.

This is something I was trying to explain after the Port game when there was an entire thread dedicated to one mistake he made. Yeah, it was a weak play but simply because it was Skipworth he was overly criticised by the fans.
By the way, good to see the Skippy fans out in droves this week as I was one of a few standing up for him after the Port game. Bandwagoners! :D

By the way, if he keeps playing this way I may change my name in a few weeks time from Vic Crow to Skipworth - I told you so. :p

Geez Skippy's been good in recent weeks. He still lacks confidence in front of goal but he's performing much better than I expected.

Even better to hear that Skippy has recovered well from the knock and has no injury. :)

Please do not take my comments as knocking him (well I suppose they are ;) ) - I'm simply commenying that his skill sets are not conjucive to a long AFL career.

That doesn't hopefully detract from the very good games he has produced, simply saying that once he gets greater attention from other clubs he will not IMO survive.

In other words he has a very limited array of tricks in his amory ;)

i'm by no means a massive skippy fan but surely the guy deserves credit for the way he has been playing this year - although I agree with NC wait until he starts getting closer attention from oppostion coaches before we make to many comments !
Correct - I doubt Laidley exhausted many minutes on Skippy - other than to probably place his best attacking defender on him ;) - that backfired!

All that may be true, but as yet not proven.

The facts are he has been better than a good contributor so far this year, and deserves to be treated as such IMO. God knows how much bagging he copped - mostly fairly - when he wasn't playing anywhere near as well.

The day may well come when Skippy deserves criticism, and I'm sure he'll damn well get it if such is the case. Let's just be fair and let him enjoy his deserved moment in the sun without putting a downer on it. ;)

and that is what is conducive to a long career. You can't tag everyone, so you need your other on ballers to step up.
