Delisted by Crows today along with Gibson and Obst.

Skipworth's 23, would certainly add some depth to Blues squad if we nabbed him in the PSD but would he get a starting gig ahead of our young guns, esp if we get Gibbs too? I don't know if SKipworth can really play anywhere other than in the middle.

He could potentially be the best available come the pre-season draft though.

Gibson could be a handy option too.

If he is the best available then I would take him.

Just read a thread on the AFC board.......not many bagging him, most sad to see him go.
I honestly don't know that much about him, but always a good sign if poster's on BF aren't kicking you in the arse when you walk out the door.

Im pretty sure in 05 there was a patch of the season where he was just "on fire".

Kicked a few bags either off the HFF or from the midfield - got a stack of possetions as well.

He should certainly be one bloke we could be looking at in the PSD.

i'd prefer a KPP or Ruckman to fall our way, but those available seem to be of low to no quality at all.

Add Skipworth to the Notting & Mcphee short list at this stage.

yeah, he averaged 15 possessions in 21 games last year

I'll think we'll pass on him, and the kangaroos will end up picking him up.

He isn’t a player who will make your better in the long term but will add something to help bridge that gap between crap players and star players.

Kangaroos seem to be the logical club ATS, not Carlton.
.

he also was named best afield in the 2006 SANFL Grand Final

Lead AFL in Goal Assists at Round 11 Last year...

Has polled a couple of 3 votes in previous brownlows as well...

I'd be happy to have him.

as a club we dont need "average" players. He is nothing special and i think we all know what happens when carlton have a punt at somethings thats not "special".

I've always rated him as a handy player, and as such wouldn't be the worst addition to our list.

You never know, he could be another Scotland, he too was considered a fringe player by some and has turned out to be extremely valuable for our depth.

It would be interesting to see how he'd go in our midfield which isn't as star studded (yet!) as the crows', where he probably attracted less attention.

I'd say the majority of fringe players we've picked up from other clubs are fringe players for a reason!

In recent years with the exception of Scotland there haven't been many standouts...Teague year 1...no one else springs to mind!

At least we're not trading for these guys now, but picking them up through the PSD.

I think Skipworth could be ok, it just depends if anyone else slips through the cracks I suppose.

He isn't really a midfielder and he isn't really a half forward

You could make the argument that you would use him for a depth player, but if that is the case, i'd prefer to take a kid who was overlooked in the ND

Most of us are very sad to see him go. He's been a very good servant for our Club, played 21 games last year and made a very good contribution, and his attitude, work ethic and heart have always been great. No one wants to see him go, the word is that Skipworth asked to be given the opportunity to play elsewhere, where he is more likely to get game time.

Unfortunately, he's a result of the Gary Ayres reign - we have too many old players carrying our team, and we need to invest time in the Juniors before the Roos and Goodwins retire. Also, keep in mind that between the Crows and WCE, they're probably the two best midfields in the League.

He actually forced his way back into the Crows this year as well, after carving up in the SANFL. He got back in after a string of 30+ poss. games, got ~35 odd touches in one game and kicked six goals, got his spot back and then hurt himself.

Came back for the SANFL finals and dominated for us.

I'm almost certain Skippy will play 100 games for whatever club picks him up, and I'll be cheering him on even if he was to end up at Collingwood.

I think we should be jumping at somebody like Skipworth and at the moment i don't really see any better talent in the PSD pool, here are some random thoughts:

We NEED midfield depth, ok, some say he is not a midfileder but IIRC he can play a run-with role too. We can put Murph on a wing, Skipworth roving and playing on the best opposition mid, freeing up our other runners to play a more offensive game.

He seems to have a good character, forced his way back into a strong and deep Crows midfield through hard work in the SANFL as the previous poster alluded to.

Is just under 24, likely to play 100+ games.

It is not as if he has been discarded by a poor team. Look at the depth and strength of ball carriers in the Crows line up. it is no comment on his ability that he can't get a regular game there. Would be given every opportunity at our club

Would slot straight into our best 22 IMO.

We will be taking enough kids in the ND, lets get an experienced fully developed player to play beside them.

Best talent ATM, that i can identify.

Might find his 2005 form with a regular spot in our side.

If he doesn't slot into the midfield could be another handy small forward to take some pressure of Eddie. And we do have a tall forward line.

Can't think of anything else at the moment, but i am warming to him.
