Sky News Sack Latham

The media is a big part of the problem with their childish reaction to the idea that adults might disagree or dislike one another as the ultimate irony with Latham v Shorten is that political parties are like football clubs, for a few hours each week they act like one team but for the rest of the time they often cannot stand the sight of one another.

If he was good at politics and/or "highly intelligent", he wouldn't have misread rooms constantly and produced policy & publicity that set him up to fail. He displays no signs of being particularly good at communication or being book smart, and has a long track record of having low emotional intelligence. He almost certainly has to be cluey enough to achieve what he did, but his current persona, put on or not, suggests he is taking the easy road in order to help justify his fat parliamentary pension by staying relevant to low-hanging fruit.

He was given a crack because he spent a lot of his time claiming to be the smartest guy in the room. He still does that. But we now know that he isn't. Constantly referring to Western Sydney and being a bit loose and sweary only gets you so far.

He's become a s**t person since quitting parliament. In The Latham Diaries (2005) he spent a weekend with Bob Brown and said apart from some enviromental and/or economics issues they had a pretty similar world view. Today Australia would have Bob Brown working diplomatic functions if he'd been in Cabinet.

Is that the weekend that was widely publicised during the election campaign? Latham came out and said he would protect the old growth forests and then Howard did a big 'town hall meeting' with the CFMEU and logging trucks everywhere, and said he would protect their jobs. It was the big issue at the end of the campaign. Labor wasn't happy with how late the announcement was, and Tasmanian Labor especially weren't happy. It cost them two seats in Tassie.

Do you mean in your last comment that you think Bob Brown should get considered for ambassadorial roles? Or do you mean to suggest you think Latham may have brought the Greens into the Cabinet?

REASONS FOR JUDGMENT

WIGNEY J:

1 What does the martyrdom of Christians in the Roman Empire between the reign of the Emperor Nero Claudius Caesar Augustus Germanicus and Emperor Flavius Valerius Aurelius Constantinus Augustus have to do with a defamation action commenced in Australia in 2017? How could the persecution of ethnoreligious Huguenots in the French Kingdom during the French Wars of Religion of the Sixteenth Century be said to rationally affect the assessment of the probability of a fact in issue in a modern-day defamation action in which the defamatory imputations are said to be that the applicant knowingly assists terrorist fanatics who want to kill innocent people in Australia, or condones the murder of innocent people by Islamic terrorists, or encourages and facilitates terrorism‽ Could the fact of the segregation and ill-treatment of ethnic Negro people under the doctrine of Apartheid in South Africa between 1948 and 1991 reasonably be said to be relevant to the defences of justification, contextual truth, qualified privilege, honest opinion and fair comment pleaded by the respondent in that defamation action?

2 These and other equally beguiling questions are raised by the interlocutory applications filed by the parties in this matter.

Latham is a big part of the problem. Sky news is a big part o the problem.
Idiots employing idiots.

Latham has monetised complaining about too much identity politics by only talking about identity politics.

The campaigner is cooked.

Fried his cabbage sometime after losing the unloseable election.

Going great guns in NSW, doubled One Nation's popularity there. Will be elected in March with ease and likely hold the balance of power.

Congrats, nswcrow. You deserve it buddy
