Agree. I’m a Fulham supporter myself and loved our time in the Championship living over there. Good quality of football for the most part, more games than the premier league, more authentic fans (crowds not diluted with the plastics and tourists like the premier league), cheaper tickets that are never sold out, and players who genuinely play for the badge and supporters, rather than the pay cheque.
I follow Chelsea and was stoked when the takeover happened because it allowed us to compete with the powerhouses in England and abroad. Winning trophies was fantastic but after a while, it started to become a bit hollow. I don’t mean to come across as ungrateful because I have loved every minute of our success in the Roman era, but I felt a bit unfulfilled after we won our last title and it made me miss the pre takeover days.

I’ve never actually properly followed a Championship season because Chelsea have been top flight my whole life. I would watch games here and there and often track the progress of our loanees, but I think I’m going to try and watch as much as I can next season. It has that early days Premier League feel to it and I think it will remain like that for the foreseeable future.

All true and feels more English than EPL. But having said that I’m sure you a Fulham fan and me a Leeds fan would like nothing else but for our teams to be promoted and never shall return.

Is the Championship on Foxtel?

Yeah that’s one thing I see with my mates who support the big clubs where success is a mere formality. Winning becomes normal and the feeling begins to wears thin. Adversity and failure always makes success that little bit sweeter. My mate who’s supported Man U for nearly 30 years reckons this period of limited domestic success has been his most enjoyable as he’s no longer immune to the feeling of winning and success, so regular match day wins actually mean something to him now.

Yeah don’t get me wrong I’d love for us to return straight back up. However that being said it’s not that bad being back in the championship. Hope Leeds get over their choke this season and get promoted next season. Have always hoped they’d get promoted and return to the glory days.

I hope so, but there's a big financial bubble about to burst in the Championship I think. Clubs in the EFL in general are hemorrhaging money at a crazy rate. Think the stat was $300m of losses in the EFL in total with the majority of that in the Championship.

I started following Chelsea in 2003 as an 8 year old. After a while the feeling of success becomes diluted. I don't understand how Bayern fans don't get bored.

Anyone else think it a little strange that the Play-off final winners get a trophy and the players get medals for effectively finishing 3rd, but the team that finishes 2nd gets nothing but promotion?
Been thinking about this for years. It’s ridiculous

Being a yo yo club is actually one of the best things, especially if you occasionally make a Cup final/make Europe. Stoke fans would be so unhappy right now but if they get their act together and go back up, they'll realise it's actually a much more fun way to exist.

The whole 'being on the precipice of being financially ruined' aspect of sticking around in the Championship for too long is a bit not fun though.

This isn’t an uncommon belief over here. I know some Chelsea fans who were diehards in the 80’s and 90’s who are no long interested. Maybe they just grew out of being a diehard for other reasons (families etc) but they maintain it’s because the club changed too much and they no longer felt connected. Those fans have been replaced by a more plastic variety which increases the soulless vibe that exists. It’s not just Chelsea where this has happened but they are probably the prime example

Which pub is that? Have watched some games in casino sports bars but they are usually quiet as,

It’s the Crown and Anchor on E Tropicana. A brilliant pub to watch football in or have some good hot chips as opposed to the horrid fries you find in a lot of places here.

Also gloriously cheap drinks compared to anywhere on the strip. Spent a total $80 USD for 7 US-sized huge shots of Makers Mark, two vodka oranges for the wife and a bowl of chips as well as including a $12 tip.

Would have easily cost me $200+ in the hotels.

I’ll always love the club but my passion and interest has definitely tapered. I don’t feel as emotionally invested in our results anymore. I used to feel down for a long time after a bad result, but now I’m over it pretty much straight away. I think I mentally checked out a few years ago. The club just does not represent what I believe in so it’s hard to continuously use energy supporting it. I definitely consider myself a casual fan now.

I don't watch enough sport to warrant it boys.

Ok.. just don't really get it, you're asking because you'd watch Championship on Optus, which is more sport, but you don't want Bein which has Championship, Bundesliga, La Liga, etc. plus League Cup, plus your regulars (tennis, AFL, NRL, cricket, etc.) plus all the magazine shows?
