Worthy of praise on the main board.

The effort in the first term by the much under-rated and fairly well maligned Henry Slattery today was something that really should get the Army Award nomination.

There wouldn't be a lot of players prepared to do what Slattery did and cop what he got. Backing into Fevola, he copped a boot and then a knee and is still in Epworth hospital under observation.

Well done Slatts. Sheer courage under fire.

terrific courage :thumbsu:

One of the best things in our great game, glad the kid is OK.

Unfortunate accident. Should not have been a free either way. Both had eyes for the ball. He would not have got hit if he had eyes on Fev.

mate. how about them bloody bomber boys ey. we could read bigfooty and read your pathetic excuse of tunneling but slattery showed the intentions of the bomber boys for the day and in the end proved too good for those blue boys.

bombers baby

firstly im going to say i hope the kids alright and it was a very courageous effort, good on him.....

but he never had eyes on the footy and stopped fev having a fair leap at the ball.

He is still in hospital and has a broken cheek bone.

Atleast they have ruled out any neck or spinal injuries.

Wow, tunnelling with your head.

AFL really needs to start stamping this kind of thing out

Maybe he should be reported for headbutting! :p
I actually heard one old dragon at the game say "I hope he did not hurt Fevolas knee." I could only shake my head and laugh.

Well done Slatts...110% commitment to the cause :thumbsu:

I've been a big critic of his this season but after today's display I'm gonna give him the benefit of the doubt for a while.

It's never nice to see anyone get laid out like that on a footy field and lie there motionless for an eternity afterwards. I really thought he might have been in some serious trouble there for a while.

good courage running back, but no doubt it should have been a free kick to Fevola which would have resulted in a shot on goal.

I cringed when I saw Fletch move his head afterwards:eek:
Pleased to hear he will be OK. I think the well-meaning Fletch will be pleased he didn't do more damage than good looking back at it too.
