IMO the Blues have done a fantastic job over the draft period setting up the future with new faces Murphy, Kennedy, Bower, Edwards etc forming a very solid spine over the next decade. By 2007 the sleeping giant will well and truly be awake and out for revenge! How is this for a line up from 2006/2007 onwards:
B. Carrazzo Thornton Teague
HB.Saddington Bower Lappin
C. Walker Koutoufides Simpson
HF. Whitnall Waite Scotland
F. Kennedy Fevola Betts
FOLL. French Stevens Murphy
INTER. Bentick, McLaren, Hartlett, Russell
EMERG. S.O'hAilpin, Jackson, Houlihan
Exciting times ahead:)

Geez it better not be wet. If the ball hits the ground in the forward line then we have a problem.

The backline looks well balanced. :thumbsu:

Russell takes Lappins spot down back. Put Lappin in the forward line. Kennedy to the bench.

TRADE LANCE !!!!!! (sorry I was thinking out loud)

Bring in another runner for the bench.

I don't see how you can include Jackson as an Emergency. A Rookie who hasn't played a game, yet you overlook drafted players like Fisher, Blackwell, Raso, Edwards, Livingston & Bryan to name a few

This could be on the cards, most definitely. Alot will depend on how Kennedy, Bower, Raso and Hartlett perform over the next 2 years. If they go well, IMO, Whitnall could be out the door.

I already acknowledged missing Fisher ( See post 3 )
I believe Edwards will take longer to develop than Jackson ( KPP v midfielder) but just my opinion. I also don't believe Livingston & Bryan will be in our long term plans. Hope they prove me wrong! As for Blackwell not sure but will swap with Jackson if it makes you happy. But hey everyone cant get a game! Good to see a real competition for the players to get a game in next few years which is why I believe we are on our way back as a force in years to come:thumbsu:

What's Kouta still doing in the centre? I would think he won't even play there NEXT year let alone in 2-3 years time. Rather have him as an impact player off the bench ala Peter Riccardi, Robert Harvey etc.

Hate to say it, but this will be Kouta's last season.

Fevola or Whitnall - or both for that matter - may not even be on our list in 2-3 years time. I feel the pressure is on them to perform, more so Fevola.

Betts could be another one that may not be on our list... small forward, not overly fit, who knows. Excitement machine however, but we have seen many of them play for 2-3 years and be delisted.

Pressures on Teague as well.

Scotland is another that could be delisted in 3 years time.

I wouldn't confirm Saddington to be on our list either.

At this stage, they would be the only players, if you were a betting man - may or may not be on our list/starting 22 from the players blueheart mentioned.

There are always draft picks that just dont make it, people are presuming here that everyone will......murphy may not be able step up (doubt it), but some one will fail. On top of this there will be a suprise packet, as mentioned someone like bryan could take the step. (Smith).

Kouta will play most of this season on the ball.........that's where he plays his best footy.......no question about that. He has even stated a desire to play on in 2007, body permitting.

The pressure on Fevola is not all about performance. It's his attidude on and off the field that needs improving. The guy has kicked 63, 66 & 49 goals the past 3 seasons. That's performing in my book.

Whitnall on the other hand has to perform on field and get himself in shape and more importantly stay in shape in a year other than a "contract" year. We should have traded him while we had the chance.

Long way to go yet, 1st half of season will be a good estimation of where the blues are at. Just enjoy the kids and the rebuilding.

True. Would be happy if we were competitive ala Hawthorn last season and showed some potential from our young players.
