Yes Heatherton did play well yesterday but you still have to remember there is a lot of footy left to be played in the season- it's not over until that 2nd last Saturday in September. South Yarra had a couple of key players out.
On another interesting point who does everyone think will fill the remaining 3 spots in the four? Murrumbeena are almost a certainty, Oakleigh have the easiest run home so I think they will finish 4th and it will come down to next weeks big clash IMO to see who will finish 5th between Highett and Caulfield. I think after yesterday Black Rock are out of the equation. Highett are struggling of late so my tip would be Caulfield to sneak into 5th. Thoughts?

I'd say even with key players coming back to south yarras team for heatherton to win by 10 goals at yarra's home ground on a windy day with lack of knowledge of the ground really does show something... agree?

Dont worry about The yarra they are full soft front runners:thumbsdown:

Pdog enough of the humility - heatherton far too good for yarra and this will not change come september. And lets remember saturday's win was without your good self!! Do south yarra have anyone of your quality to come back into the side? Wouldnt have thought so ;)

I see that David White got 9 weeks last night for 2 incidents from the weekend....any one know exactly what happened??

Yep

3 weeks for strinking. He was jumper punching with his opponant. David pleaded not guilty and got 3, his opponant pleaded guilty and got a reprimand :D

After being reported for the jumper punch, as he was walking off, David decided to give the bird to the field umpire and in earshot of the boundary umpire said words to the effect of "I'm gonna find out where you live and get you".

15yr old boundary umpire reported him. He pleased not guilty here also. The young umpire stood up to some strong cross examination and was supported by the tribunal. 6 weeks and good riddance. Finally got out of Linton St by 11pm!

I believe he is now well and truly over the 16 week total suspension limit. Deregistration???

It always annoys me how some people always plead not guilty, even though they know theyre in trouble. Can anyone explain why people do this? Do they think theyre better/smarter than the umpires and tribunal?

From all reports (pardon the pun) the tribunal have been after that fool for a while and have finally been able to nail him, clowns like that have no place on a football field, jog on!

As for all this talk about Heatherton being unbeatable, there is a long way to go, injuries to one or two key players will make the difference between the top 3 sides, but they are definitely favourites at this stage.

Caulfield and Oakleigh should make up the 4th and 5th spots, Highett have a hard run.

The tribunal was harsh last night

#17 at Hampton got reported for calling the umpire a f***n white c**t. It wasn't to his face, but just said in frustration as he looked into the air wondering why he didnt get a free kick for something.

The player appologised to the ump after the game, pleaded guilty, didn't argue one point in the hearing and appologised again. The ump said the language wasn't threatening and he only reported him as he said it loudly and it was obscene and heard by the crowd. He also thanked the player for the two appologies. Frank (chairman of the tribunal) said he would take all that into account, but remembered taht said player had called him (Frank) a bastard when frank was umpiring a cricket match last summer that #17 was playing in.

3 weeks

Heatheron are beatable obviously as they have lose 2 games this season. The last round will be an interesting clash between Droughts mob and Heatherton. It was interesting listening to the Beena coach on the footy show saying he hoped Heatherton rested a few in that clash. I would think the opposite would be the case. Beena should have 3rd position locked in at that point and it will be a dead rubber for them. The Beena will rest a few to make sure they are 100% come finals. It will be very difficult to win a flag from 4th or 5th or if you lose the first final (2nd vs 3rd).

Bennett is a tool and deserves the 3 weeks. I hope he enjoys 3 weeks of training with the umps.

If White get deregistered does he still have to train with the umps?:)

heartherton far too good for the yarras on the weekend. I guess its a fight for second spot. Dont count yarras out in september though. they have a habbit and culture of winning when they need to.

I find it hard to beleive anyone will be resting players, especially the top 2 with the prospect of a week off up for grabs.

SOuth Yarra scared of Heatherton, your kidding coach??? A few stickers on the arms cant scare them off surely???

Sth Yarra dont like hard tough football they prefer a free flowing game.
Guess what Heatherton love both styles so i guess Yarra need to take on the challenge and serve it up to them or they dont stand a chance.
I think Heatherton have a big advantage over them now my market is
Heatherton 1.95
Sth yarra 3.10
Beena 5.00
Oakleigh 5.50
Highett 25.00
Caulfield 25.00

You seem to be in the know about last nights happenings there Preserve, were you a witness in the case/s?

Seems the league are fairly tough on any 'bad blood' towards umps this year, IMO it goes in cycles with the tribunal & umpire ambuse is definately top of the tree in 2009..thoughts?

That said umpires want to be looked upon evenly with players etc. & how much abuse do players cop from each other, surely it has to work both ways, obviously there is a line that can be crossed (threatening & so on) but a few swear words here & there, you can read the lips of AFL players & they drop their fair share of F-bombs towards the umpires with no whack from the AFL/ tribunal ?

Just think we can all be a little precious over foul language at times, as long as it's within reason the odd bleep does no harm.

could be a different ball game on big ground, say Mordialloc??

You've changed your tune Koach. Last week Yarra's were a sure thing.

You'd expect the Yarras to be better at contested footy and playing on a small ground as their home ground is the size of a thumb tac.

Yarra is going to be tough to beat come finals if they get their missing players back. By my calculations they are missing about 6 senior players, I know they fancy their chances against Heatherton if they have a full side.

Drought, why wouldn't the Beena rest players? If they have nothing to gain (in relation to the ladder), why wouldn't they rest some of their sore players and get them ready for finals?

I did declare Yarra as the team to beat but the results dont back me up.
I have not given up on them but!! they face a huge challenge and all i am saying is are they up to it???
I think they need to dictate the terms of a game to win.
But Heatherton on the other hand seem to adapt to any situationthe that might be the differance.

citing the above case, what player would tell another that he will hunt him down and 'get him'? Selective outbursts are ok, either a warning given or handled on the field (50m penalty etc), but i think you would find only serious cases make it to the tribunal, and the sentances reflect their seriousness

Thats a fair call as long as the umpire is not too trigger happy:thumbsu:

I dont understand... Every1 says a large ground will favour south yarra. But they did play heatherton at home which is quite large and lost to them by 40 points. Then they played on a small ground and lost to them by 60 points. So what is everyone saying? I dont understand why everyone thinks there so great?

I think people are trying to say which ground will suit yarra more.
Dont write them off just yet.
