These are professional athletes. They are healthier and stronger than the regular person, so recovery time is a lot shorter than what regular people have experienced.
JJ would be out 3 weeks :)

Doesnt surprise me.

What surprises me is that players do not have it removed during the off season.

He definitely will not be 100% and the question has to be asked, should he play.

Players health should always come first.
Haha that's classic. Would be handy for all players to get it removed in the off-season for sure. Just like astronauts and those that go to work in the Antarctic.

Seriously though, I don't think it'd be worth it. You'd end up with a few who could have complications from the surgery.

I'm sure if it were up to Sloane he'd be playing. It just comes down to the doctor's though guys. No way would you play him if he's at risk of an internal bleed or something [emoji14]

Another frickin Parvovirus appendix. FFS.
Mind you it didn't do Betts any harm on his return.

There's actually 2 different issues to consider:
1. Will Sloane make it in time to recover prior to the first bounce of QF? The answer is a high probable.

2. During the few days off needed to recover, will Sloane be able to run smoothly and to get the touch fitness needed to play a QF? This is the main question the coaching staff needs to address. What point is a midfielder if he can only play 50% TOG?
People keep comparing Sloane's case to Betts', but these are different types of players. Eddie just needs to lurk around goals and doesn't need to run marathons....whereas Sloane does need to run marathons in a typical game!

I'm still backing him in...4 days to recover post-op, 4 days to regain fitness, and then play on the 9th day! Come on Rory, you can do it!!

Haven't read the thread but I understand it didn't burst which is a totally different proposition to a burst appendix. Secondly, the surgery was laparoscopic, the stitch or two is internal and will dissolve around the ten day mark. And if Larkins says he's likely to play I'd go with that - it is Sloaney after all :).
