After the GF? Hell, if we win against GWS, I'd be getting the whole lot of them done on Friday morning. 2 weeks should be enough time to recover for the prelim, and no risk of this sh*t cropping up again.
Hahahaha

Ffs people get a grip! This is not great news but hardly the end of the world. If you asked me what this would mean at round 6 this year I would have been pretty devastated but we've come a very long way since then. We will still beat GWS

Let's not sugar coat it. Sloane is our most important player (in our weakest area of the ground). Would be a big blow if he misses out.

Lucky we're not playing Geelong.
If Sloane plays, no doubt Harry Taylor would have found an appendix from somewhere - maybe even gone and had his own removed - have it stashed down his sock to put in Sloane's hand as he shakes his hand after the game!

Might still happen if we meet them later in the finals, Betts better watch out too.

Give me an effin' break.

Cameron stays in now.

IN - Tex, Talia, Greenwood
OUT - Keath, Sloane, Milera

Please please please please don't bring Thommo back. Please Adelaide don't do it. Don't bring in a the lumbering man-arms against one of the fastest teams in the league.

Has anyone had their appendix out? How long were you below 100% for?

Hard to picture him getting tackled by Mumford within 9 days. I once fell asleep on the remote control and needed a week off work.

Are you sure that was the remote?

Have a feeling that he'll play, but geez we go out of our way to make it hard for ourselves. Greenwood to get more stoppage time and I'd like to see Rat closer to the coalface a bit more. Wonder if Hampton would be considered or whether Thommo would get another crack based on recent SANFL form.

I don't remember having 3 players sidelined in a season from illness. Lynch, Betts and now Sloane. Fingers crossed Sloane plays like the other 2 when he comes back into the side.

Well 'we' didn't really do anything, there is nothing that could have been done differently to prevent this situation, unless we had all our players get their appendices removed in the pre-season.

How long was Betts out for?

Missed one game, he had surgery on a Sunday and missed the following week

Need to remember though Esdie's appendix did burst, Sloane's appendix didn't burst

My understanding is that this can be significant in terms of the procedure and recovery

Also I wouldn't be surprised if Sloaney has a higher pain tolerance than Eddie

how do we know it didn't burst?

Think people are reading into the press release, sounds as though he had some abdominal pain and after consultation decided surgery was required, assuming if it had burst that emergency surgery would be required.

Betts write up from July, so yes Betts Appendix burst. I don't think Rory's burst?

"
Betts, who has already been ruled out of Adelaide’s away match against Collingwood on Sunday, was discharged from Wakefield Hospital yesterday after spending two nights recovering from a burst appendix.

He was rushed to hospital on Sunday afternoon after complaining of severe stomach pains to club doctors.

Betts, 30, said the pain had been like nothing he had experienced before.

“My wife said that’s probably the most pain she’s ever seen me in; I’ve never felt that pain before,” Betts said. “They said it was lucky they got me here, because it wasn’t very nice, but good to take it out and take away the pain.

“I’m drowsy, groggy, haven’t left the bed for two days, so I’m looking forward to going home and seeing the boys.

“I was vomiting a lot, then I called the doctor to come around home - he came and gave me some morphine.

“That didn’t calm it down, so I came up here and they said ‘listen, your appendix has burst, so we’ll have to remove it straightaway’.”

Betts is expected to return for the round 20 Showdown against Port Adelaide.

But he had held some faint hope of returning as soon as he regained consciousness after the surgery.

“First thing I did when I woke up, I said ‘will I be right to play on Sunday against Collingwood?’” Betts asked. “He (the doctor) goes, ‘nah, mate, you’ll miss that one’.”

Does anyone know if Eddie Betts had an Open Appendectomy or Laparoscopic Appendectomy,
I heard 3rd/4th hand it was Open Appendectomy,
And will/is/has Rory Sloane undergoing a Laparoscopic Appendectomy

Open appendectomy, a surgeon makes one incision in the lower right side of your abdomen. Your appendix is removed and the wound is closed with stiches. This procedure allows your doctor to clean the abdominal cavity if your appendix has burst

Laparoscopic appendectomy, a surgeon accesses the appendix through a few small incisions in your abdomen. A small, narrow tube called a cannula will then be inserted. The cannula is used to inflate your abdomen with carbon dioxide gas. This gas allows the surgeon to see your appendix more clearly

Laparoscopic appendectomy generally has a shorter recovery time.

What the hell are you talking about?

This:

This didn't happen.
