There's actually 2 different issues to consider:
1. Will Sloane make it in time to recover prior to the first bounce of QF? The answer is a high probable.

2. During the few days off needed to recover, will Sloane be able to run smoothly and to get the touch fitness needed to play a QF? This is the main question the coaching staff needs to address. What point is a midfielder if he can only play 50% TOG?
People keep comparing Sloane's case to Betts', but these are different types of players. Eddie just needs to lurk around goals and doesn't need to run marathons....whereas Sloane does need to run marathons in a typical game!

I'm still backing him in...4 days to recover post-op, 4 days to regain fitness, and then play on the 9th day! Come on Rory, you can do it!!
He's an elite athlete, he's not going to lose much fitness by sitting on his arse for three or four days. The rest may actually help him.

"touch fitness" was my original quote. Which means both running the match out well, and to minimise clangers in disposals. You can't confidently say Sloane's best preparation for "touch fitness" is in bed staring at hospital walls and some IV drips?

Some good shit. It's only Tuesday, still more than a week for Lynch to get the plague and Betts to get his backup appendix also removed.

Tex and Talia both carrying injuries significant enough we preferred them to be rested ahead of match fit. Sloane surgery 9 days before the game.

Sloane bent his knee backwards and played the next game after a 6 day break without even any tape

He's Batman.

You've got to wonder about some of our media outlets.

Nine news mentioned Betts took 12 days so Sloane will be pushing it in 9, no mention Betts burst his.

At least 7 picked up on it.

The question that needs to be asked is, when was Betts ready to play?

12 is the number of days from his operation to the Dons game on the Saturday. As we know Eddie didnt play on the Sunday against the powder.
Hypothetical lets say we were scheduled to play a game on the Thursday after the powder game, would Eddie have been ready to play? If the answer is yes then you'd think Sloane will play next week in the QF.

Regardless my money is on Sloane taking the field.

Should compile a list of weird injuries we have been dealt with as a club. Would be interesting reading. Roo, Smart, Van Berlo, Eddie & Sloane. I am sure there is more.

Rehn on the bounce mat

Dougie hit in the nuts

Carey on square goal post

Even McLeod got an infection in his foot in 2006 I think. Did he miss the first final?

Bock out for a season with a back injury from lifting weights

Symes two broken wrists falling off back of a car

Did Knight do his ankle on a boat ramp?
And, Grigg/trampoline...?

A good few were self inflicted.

Wow, that black cat.
Was going to say Symes on the back of the car at training.

McLeod had a bursa in his foot, had it operated on.
He came back for a game or 2 and he then got an infection in the foot.
Came back for the Prelim but was not right.
2006 was so cursed, McLeod, Burton did the bad hamstring and came back in the Prelim as well but wasn't really right, Hentschel, Roo parvo, Ben Hart achilles. We had a few others injured near the end too, I think Bassett was one. Biglands did his acl in the prelim itself.

Jarryd Lyons bitten by a white tail spider another typical Crow story, he thought he was going to lose his leg.
I'm sure there's some other crazy ones.
