Query Smallest football town

Osborne is just a farming community with no town but strongest in Hume league historically. Same for Bullioh in Upper Murray League.

Rennie in the Picola league boasts a population of 40.

Kangaroo Island in SA currently has a total population of 4000 give or take and currently fields 5 teams (each with A Grade, B Grade and Colts, plus netball) in the local league.

Kingscote is the largest town with a rough population of 1700 (as of 2016 census, Wikipedia). Home of Kingscote FC and to a lesser extent, Wisanger.

Penneshaw is the next largest town with a tough population of 270 (2011 census, Wikipedia). Home of Dudley United FC.

Parndana is next with 149 people (same census range). Home of Parndana FC.

Parndana and their arch rivals Western Districts would have the smallest drawing area (both are at the eastern end of the Island which is mainly farming area).

Western Districts play out of Gosse, a locality east of Parndana. Basically, it's a oval and sporting complex in the middle of nowhere. Few houses and a church from memory but could be wrong. WDFC recently lost their clubrooms to the KI fires t the start of the year. Interestingly enough I actually saw their colours painted on quite a few letterboxes on the western end of the island towards Penneshaw and American River - so they must have some players come from that end as well.

Dudley United FC is the result of a merger between Dudley (based out of Penneshaw, named after the peninsula on the western end) and United (based out of American River). American River currently has a population of 200. There was also a team called Muston in the very early days down that way.

Nepean Bay had a team until the 1960s when they were folded by the League and most of the players went to Kingscote or Wisanger (see below).

Wisanger are Kingscotes main rivals and play out of Bay of Shoals oval (affectionately known as Panther Park). Wisanger draw most of their players from Kingscote but also draw from nearby Emu Bay and the surrounding farms and Bay Of Shoals locality. The Oval is basically situated off the back highway to Emu Bay, with very few houses and mainly farmland surrounding.

More in SA:

Based in the Mid North, Clements Gap fielded a team for a few years in the old Broughton Central FL and Broughton FL. Won a few flags as well. Clements Gap is mainly farmland, there is an old church and school house and an oval. Clements Gap FC still exists as a social club of sorts and every year a few locals hold a friendly match amongst themselves. Clements Gap is located between Merriton, Crystal Brook, Redhill and Port Broughton. Is now home to quite a few windfarms.

Merriton (between Clements Gap and Crystal Brook) also had a team in the Broughton Central and Broughton FL for few years, again just a few houses, church, school and the oval although oval is long gone but still traceable on google maps.

Narridy (between Crystal Brook and Gulnare) had a team in the 50s and 60s in the Broughton FL. Just a schoolhouse, general store and church. A whole town was planned with streets laid out but never completed or built.

Wokurna is a locality between Mundoora, Redhill and Snowtown. Used to have a very strong team in the Western Areas FL. Basically only a few houses in a little spot and an oval full of prickles and a dodgy away changeroom. Wokurna ended up in the Broughton League when the WAFL folded and merged with Mundoora.

Leighton FC (between Spalding and Burra) was a founding member of the current North Eastern Football League. I can't for the life of me find where the "township" was or is, it's mainly farmland and I can't find traces of an oval on Google maps either.

Hummocks Watchmen Eagles FC in the Adelaide Plains FC is made up of a couple of clubs, two of them being Hummocks United and Watchman. I believe Hummocks United is a merger of South Hummocks and Lochiel (Lochiel is on the main A1 Highway between Port Wakefield and Snowtown, while South Hummocks is or was a locality between Port Wakefield and Paskeville). Can't find South Hummocks but there was a railway station at one point. Watchman is or was an area located between Balaklava and Auburn. Can't find traces of a township or oval. The Hummocks and Watchman clubs merged with Port Wakefield in 1996.

Yorke Peninsula:

The Southern Eagles is made up of Yorketown, Edithburg and Western United.

Ignoring the other two as their decent sized towns, Western United is made up of Warooka and Sunbury. Warooka is a pretty small town but Sunbury is basically just an Oval and a few houses on the bottom highway - blink and you'll miss it.

In Tasmania, there's Oatlands District FA club named Mount Pleasant (there's actually not a place on the map of that name) but play out of an area called Pawtella which has a population of 160.
A former ODFA club, Woodsdale, had a population in the 340's when the club folded up not long ago.
Bothwell had a population of 391 five years ago according to the census, Richmond 880, Campbell Town 772, Swansea 597, Oatlands 540, Campania 742, Triabunna 2049 are the town populations of each ODFA club.
Will have to have a dig through some of the North Western town clubs, some of the Darwin FA, Circular Head FA or NWFA ones would be small.
And now Smithon, with 3881 [2016 census] people, don't have a club any more.

Peterborough in the Mid North of SA is the same. 3000-4000 people and the club merged with nearby Jamestown - Appila. Last year or year before the decision was made to abandon games at PB Oval and all home games are now at Jamestown. Also very few PB people involved with the club these days and quite a few of the locals go to Orroroo instead. Sad, really

Reckon the Mininera & District Footy League would own this
Tatyoon
SMW Rovers (Streatham, Mininera & Westmere)
Moyston Willaura
Woorndoo
Caramut
Hawkesdale / MacArthur
Glenthompson / Dunkeld
Wickliffe / Lake Bolac

no one actually (virtually) no one lives here all players coming from the bigger surrounding towns
