It's ironic, this time last year, maybe a few rounds more advanced into the season, we faced you guys in a game where, if we won, we'd be announcing ourselves as a legitimate Top 4 contender and would have gone 10-4 or something like that. And at that time, the Kangaroos were being smashed from pillar to post by the media for underperforming against good opposition, and beating up on the shit teams, much like us this season (although we're arguably going worse, because even last year you guys were still beating teams like the Dees and Bulldogs lol :()

This year, the shoe is completely on the other foot, so it will be interesting to see if we can respond the way you guys did that day (pretty sure you absolutely caned us that day, won by about 10 goals), and also how your team will respond with the added pressure of being massive favourites against a team like us, who whilst not in spectacular form at the moment, still have the capacity to play exciting footy on our day (similar to your guys last year).

Should be an interesting game to watch! I'm hoping for a competitive showing from our boys, but I reckon you guys will do what we couldn't do last year, and get the 4 points quite comfortably! :(
Looking at both teams, if we're fairdinkum, we'll win. Will we be fairdinkum? Who knows.

i think you are trying to stir me up so im letting it go....
LOL, perhaps I was.

But my main point is that I don't buy this concept of 'anything less than xxx is meaningless'. A win is necessary and by how much of little relevance, a smashing would be great but is only marginally more meaningful in the context of the season.

It's like all those sooky posts after round 1 (a terrible loss, no doubt) saying we would win round 2 against the Bulldogs but it would "mean nothing". We won against a very vanilla team and it meant a whole lot more than losing would have.

GWS game anyone. GWS, a much poorer side than Richmond right mow, got smashed in the media and nearly beat the Hawks.

We take one step of the pedal and we'll be smashed.

We are 3 wins clear of Richmond who are a very average side, if we come in and win by 17 points with less inside 50s and less tackles as seems to be the case, we will not be moving forward! We must come out and give them a belting! Making sure that the next team that faces us has doubt in their mind.
We went through the 90's beating teams before they even stepped on the ground. Wayne Carey kept coaches up all night wondering how to play him, currently teams come in with all sorts of confidence when playing us. Am i looking into this too deeply.... maybe, but you can see where i am coming from right?

Just win the bloody thing. If we want to stake a claim to being a finals worthy side, coming back from Perth or not, then we should do as G-Town did to us and act like a finals worthy side by smashing Richmond when it matters........early!
Absolutely key.

Put the game to bed early.

Gee110ng showed us what happens to NM when they get above themselves. Deposit the WCE game in the bank and smash the tigers.

All sorts of confidence against a team that has won two games in Perth, beaten Sydney in Sydney and is the only team so far to beat Port? We might not be top 2, and our worst is horrible, but I doubt teams are coming in with "all sorts of confidence" against us...

I see it differently......
Lost to Essendon in a pathertic display.
Got totally outplayed by Collingwood, were never in the game
Never looked a chance against Geelong.
Got spanked at home by GC...
Stumbled across the line against the bulldogs
Beat an undermanned Sydney.
beat an undermanner Freo....

Nice Win against WC
Solid Win Against Port

but sure i like the rose colored glasses you have on.

How was Sydney undermanned? Missing Tippett and out of form, maybe, but have just beaten Adelaide by 70 points the week before and was looking to kick start their season at home. They looked ordinary because WE MADE them look ordinary.

How was Freo undermanned? We were undermanned last night for example, as we had no Wells, Grima and Taz, who are all best 22. So?

This was one of the most unpredictable games going in last year. I had visions of it going pear shaped or us winning a tight one. We smashed them thank god. I have had that feeling every game the last few weeks now and its no different come sunday. 1 point is enough people and they will come out firing we just need to be there with them early and re asses after quarter time. By no means a walk in the park with big Ivan back in the fold.

Just give me a repeat of last years game please...had everything...smashed richmond and it was a bloody entertaining game of footy that even neutrals really enjoyed watching.
Enter, Robbie Tarrant. The crumming, 50 meter goal kicking, high marking forward.
Was pretty mediocre after that, but still!

The OP was never meant to say we have already won. It was meant to say it's time to back up a great win with a strong showing at home, and smash a side that is having a horror season.
Backing it up for the next 2-3 weeks is what I want to see. We need to get some space on the ladder from the Crows, who are only one game off us.
Every game should be treated as a danger game. There aren't any easy games anymore

 Go have a look at the line up they fielded against us and Geelong for example....
Players such as Goodes, Tippet, Ried were missing also another 3 others or so with the likes of Mcglynn... yeah nah they were not undermannned...

You could bring your form v Essendon and still wipe us IMO. We are listless.
Actually I personally don't take what happens in rd 1 in relation to the overall season into account.............every 1st round, every year you have 2 teams who've done a long preseason etc etc, skill errors are higher than what they are at the end of the season.
They go hard do their best, one team wins , one teams licks their wounds and looks forward to rd 2.

Essendon were always going to go hard after a disastrous 2013 season. Emotion is the key driving force often in rd 1 games.
I just watched the 1st qtr of your game against Essendon, they jumped you early, you were rattled, lots of skill errors and you guys went into your shell.
Hardwick, as much as he appears cool, calm and collected mostly in pressers is a nervous basket case on game day. Maybe you guys need a more experienced guy to support him in the background who can offer a suggestion here or there in a calming manner.

If you guys win, kudos to you but to most of us here who support Nth will be watching how our players, conduct themselves against an opponent who has their back against the wall. We should belt you big time ! if we do and we should, its a step in the right direction for our playing group, if we don't it means their not ready yet to challenge for a top 4 spot thats begging to be taken by this group.

Hawthorn did have their minds elsewhere to be honest royals.... just saying. But yes we should go hard, go early and split Richmond in 2.

Goodes, Tippett and Reid are definitely big outs but Mcglynn played, Pyke played (didn't play against Geelong) and so did many of their other stars. They still had a very decent team playing so I think you're underselling the win a little bit.

Don't forget we had Swallow, Ziebell, Macmillan, out as well so we weren't exactly full strength ourselves. And considering those players who were out for both teams and the weather the game was played in, our outs could probably be viewed as more costly (for that particular game).

We haven't been full strength at any stage of the season thus far I don't believe, which is frustrating but also exciting for the second half of the season.
