I see it differently......
Lost to Essendon in a pathertic display.
Got totally outplayed by Collingwood, were never in the game
Never looked a chance against Geelong.
Got spanked at home by GC...
Stumbled across the line against the bulldogs
Beat an undermanned Sydney.
beat an undermanner Freo....

Nice Win against WC
Solid Win Against Port

but sure i like the rose colored glasses you have on.
Dull. We have been beaten by three good sides and one that has been patchy since but played well against us. We have beaten three very good sides and comfortably beaten two sides we should have beaten and one that most people had as 50/50 or us as underdogs. We have passed by far the hardest part of our season and sit a game off top 2. We've done it without ever getting our best side on the field.

You make excuses for every side we beat and play down the wins. Whatever helps you sleep at night. But it's silly to talk like you're the realist.

Goodes, Tippett and Reid are definitely big outs but Mcglynn played, Pyke played (didn't play against Geelong) and so did many of their other stars. They still had a very decent team playing so I think you're underselling the win a little bit.

Don't forget we had Swallow, Ziebell, Macmillan, out as well so we weren't exactly full strength ourselves. And considering those players who were out for both teams and the weather the game was played in, our outs could probably be viewed as more costly (for that particular game).

We haven't been full strength at any stage of the season thus far I don't believe, which is frustrating but also exciting for the second half of the season.
You are correct Mcglynn did play (not very well i imagine since i dont even remember him), Swallow is a big loss, yes, JZ i dont think is best 22 and Jmac is being covered well by Firrito so not much of a muchness.....

We have not looked like getting close in any of those loses, comfortably beaten in all of them... so its really a matter of what helps you sleep at night my friend. I just don't want to get ahead of ourselves so i will stick with my version of events.

Fair enough. At the time Jmac was in career best form I reckon, and providing more to the team than Firrito is although Spud is playing like he has a new lease on life at the moment. JZ granted hasn't had a great season, but I'll attribute some of that to injury. That shoulder is not 100%. Missing your captain and VC is big for any team though, can't downplay them.

But I get what you're saying. Our losses have been A-freaaking-bysmal. All of them. Our wins have ranged from okay, to good, to great, to best under Scott's tenure. The problem with this team now is the consistency to be on from the start of the game right through to the end, for each and every game. No way do I think last night was a watershed moment or whatever you want to call it. I'm still sceptical. Far too many times we've thought they'd turned the corner, only to be disappointed again time and time again. but I reckon our wins have been much better than you give them credit for. Just my opinion.

I'm pretty happy with your posting here, I would certainly like to see competitive loses at worst rather than getting totally outplayed comprehensively, need to stand up and regain control when that happens... unfortunately we are having a real hard time scoring so makes chasing teams town kinda hard.

With Spud playing so solidly, and Jmac coming back soon I hope......could we actually see Fishy being released further up the ground?? I really think this lad being freed up with no responsibility could cause major headaches for everyone who tries us.

Last year we couldn't end games, this year we struggle to start well.

But it seems when we do start well, we go on to record a strong win. Is it a mental thing with the players? Feeling in control brings out their best.

We are merging the best of 2013 with a revised 2014. It's happening but we are not "there" yet.

It's funny, last year so many people were saying the close loses were killer and they would rather see us lose by 5 goals (when he lose). This year that is happening and people are saying "I wish we could at least get close" :p

Really???
Sydney were undermanned? Freo were undermanned??
You can't sit there and use excuses for other teams, and then discount the same excuses for our team. If at the start of the year, we could have the record he have now, be one game off second, with the draw we have had, and with the draw we have ahead of us...... Well only the most unreasonable would not have been happy.
Were the losses disappointing?? Hell yeah, but show me a loss that's not.

How was Sydney undermanned? Missing Tippett and out of form, maybe, but have just beaten Adelaide by 70 points the week before and was looking to kick start their season at home. They looked ordinary because WE MADE them look ordinary.

How was Freo undermanned? We were undermanned last night for example, as we had no Wells, Grima and Taz, who are all best 22. So?
Hahaha, pretty much what I wrote.
