e-cigarettes my friend.

if you're disciplined, you could easily wean yourself off a nicotine addiction. if you're undisciplined (like me), you merely change your nicotine delivery device. except now you use everywhere. all the time. coz you can get away with it. and coz honey tastes way ****en better than smoke.

Tried them and didn't find them helpful.

It doesn't help with reports saying these e cigarettes are just as bad for you if not worse (seriously, i don't see how) than a real cigarette

oh well, im out of ideas then lol.

yeah, people blow that stuff out of proportion. i mean, i would be stunned if e-cigs weren't bad for you in some ways. stuff this good is always bad for you lol. however, if you're talking about the sum risks between the two, there would clearly be no comparison. though that of course would not prevent e-cigs from being worse in certain ways- one more recent study i think showed 10x the level of formaldehyde (thanks spell check) under certain conditions.

i think as more research is done the practice can start being regulated more closely to minimise any risk (this is course an assumption on my part). given the actions in question though, it wouldn't take too much to legislate liquid ingredient parameters and acceptable voltages etc.

and nicotine will always be a poison obviously haha.

eta- did you shell out reasonable $$ for a kit? it can make a big difference to the experience.

Nah it was one of those $7 disposable ones you get 500 puffs out of it

also tried hookah, eww but same time a nice bubble gum flavour.

It's too much like the real thing without the nicotine hit that the cravings start abusing you with so with me i just end up pinching a smoke of someone haha it's horrible

My school is evidence that it is trendy again. So many kids from year 10 to 12 smoke that its getting ridiculous. Girls posing in photos on Instagram and facey with durries in their hands at parties and shit. A few girls in year 10 literally get to school then go down the street to a mate's to have a few before homeroom in the morning. A lot of guys smoke pot which isn't as bad but is still a bit weird when they offer me some. I'd say that a lot more girls do it than guys, generally the ones who think they're cool, that no one outside of their friendship group likes, but then again i'm very much a disliker of dickheads like that. I don't smoke though, never will, mum's a lung scientist so its not even worth going there. If people (adults) want to do it then so be it, as long as I'm not near them

I'm not a smoker and I don't mind if people smoke, as long as they keep the smoke/smell away from me.

well im a nerd generally so am a bit of a tech snob lol. i don't even know how those units work, but they're cheap for a reason i suspect haha. im talking more liquid-based vaporisers.

Desperate?

My stepdad has one of those expensive e-cigs. Now he's addicted to that but at least he's not smoking anymore.

it saturates the lungs more than a normal cigarette, wet lungs is not good

Dont believe the BS being sprouted by big pharma and the anti tobacco groups. E-cigs will save your life.
I was a heavey smoker foir 36 years. There is no way I thought I'd ever give up. I had a heart attack from smoking and now have a big stent in there. Lucky to be alive. Those cheap cigalikes are useless though. If it wasnt for ecigs I'd STILL be smoking.

? there is already credible research showing potential dangers of e-cigs. let's not ignore that just because they're freaking delicious!

Formaldehyde has been found in minute quantities when testing methods dont allow for dry hits. Its pretty obvious to a human when this happens.
The DNA 40 board when used with nickel wire has temperature control so as not to allow dry hits.
Trace quantities of diacetyl has been found in some flavours. The industry is now working to remove any diacetyl found in juice.
Diacetyl free flavours are available if it worries you.
Compared to smoking cigarettes, its a no brainer.

well formaldehyde has been found in quantities 10x that of conventional cigs (under certain conditions).

well of course. and they're delicious! :D

never smoked, valued my sport way too much.

having said that, both my parents are heavy smokers and have been for as long as i can remember. they never smoked in the house or in the car when me or my sister were with them which was nice but we could still always smell it.

anyway, about 7-9 months ago my dad (in his 50's) had to go to the doctors for a routine health check as per Vic Roads instructions for having driving trucks, doctor said it would all go smoothly and he would be fine to go back to working asap. during the check they found a major blockage in his heart and they hit panic stations and said they had to get him in for a bypass ASAP.

He had the operation and was forced to take 6 months off work which for a workaholic was a disaster. They had a Overseas cruise booked and that was on the verge of being cancelled due to no income to pay for it.

Have they stopped smoking since? Mum has the occasional smoke and as mind blowing as this is, i found out only 2 days ago that dad still does too while at work.

I'm not sure if this is a common thing to do for all smokers but they felt that cutting down was just as good as quitting and thats how they justified it. i expressed my anger and basically said i hope you're both around long enough to see your own grandchildren grow up (odds on we will have a kid in the next year or so) and left it at that.

sorry that this has turned into a vent/rant but to those who smoke, give it up now while you still can and improve your quality of life. And if you don't want to quit then keep in the back of your mind that not only are you harming yourself but you're probably going to put your family through a lot of pain once it catches up to you.

The study you are referring to found NO formaldehyde @ lower voltages. It was only present when overheated.

yes I know that's why I specified 'under certain conditions'. given the lack of regulation of these devices currently it's still something that users need to be aware of, and should be addressed in any subsequent legislation.

anyone know smokers that hate smoking? i am one.

Anyone know a smoker trying to quit that lives with a smoker or smokers and keeps on failing. i am one.

the slightest smell can make a person quitting light up.

The problem for smokers trying to quit is definitely other smokers. especially other smokers who don't respect if you're trying to quit.

Smoking is one of my biggest regrets. i always thought i'd be able to quit easy. nope. its not easy, it's the hardest thing to do and it beats me every time. have tried all avenues. the closest was with champix (three times). but no.

prevention is the best medicine.

I don't hate smoking, there's nothing better than a smoke and a frothy after work but I hate people that smoke around me. If some rude campaigner lights up at a table while i'm eating dinner I will most likely leap across the table and bite their face off. I'm an anti smoking smoker in a way that I know its foul, so I try and stay away from everyone as much as possible. I don't want to annoy them with it because If I find it foul I cant imagine what a non smoker thinks of the smell. Dudes at Bus stops also do my head in, anywhere in public really. I find it really ****ing rude.
