Smoking

i can't stand the smell of smoke... i used to be immune to it pretty much... my dad smoked, my mum smoked, pretty much everyone smoked!
then about 5-6 years ago dad had a heart attack, not too serious or anything... but ever since then my whole family stopped smoking, except for my grandpa, but i can't stand the smell now...
i normally try to just avoid people when they are smoking, but if someone walks into an enclosed room where i am and lights up, i tell 'em to move doesn't matter where we are.. i tell my grandpa to move in his own house... he may be old, but i'm still young and have been exposed pretty much my whole life, and i'd rather not be...

There is nothing worse than getting off the tram in a pack in the middle of St Kilda Road and someone lights up because they can't wait to cross the road. It's friggin' thoughtless and rude - as is sitting down next to someone and then lighting up, or hogging the doorway of the building for smokefest.

Obviously my choice is not to smoke, so I wouldn't go and stand near someone who already is!!

There is a marked lack of consideration for other people in Melbourne I've noticed, like:

*Space Invaders - they have to be ON TOP of you when there is plenty of room elsewhere
* Spitters, Snorters, Sniffers
* Overly loud Walkmans making that tinny sound
* Those F***WITS that have to test every single ring type on their phone on public transport or in a restaurant

People who habitually slag on the ground are the lowest forms of life on this earth. Rats.

Hahah so much of what you said there happens so much on public transport. Add to that the token drunk guy per carriage (especially after sport events) who makes friends with everyone on the carriage then predictably always starts a fight after a while.

I Agree with ya.

It is a disgusting, stinky habit which people of all ages do. If there was one thing that could happen is that they should all do the right thing and kick the habit.

Arrrrgghh! I hate that too. A couple of months ago, a guy on the tram did that all the way home. It must have been a new toy for him because he tested every bloody ring tone at least three times each.

Big style - who isn't sick of walking along any footpath decorated with gobs of phlegm . . . *shudder*

You obviously make that comment knowing why those people spit the phlegm? Right?

Its one thing when people spit saliva because they think its cool, but criticizing someone for spitting phlegm, which is usually the result of being sick, is just not right. Spitting it out is much more pleasant than swallowing it.

Personally, when i have to i spit my phlegm I do it into a tissue then throw it in a bin, as i too find it quite disgusting. But sometimes there's only that many tissues i have in my pocket (though if i have no choice but to spit on the ground i try to spit onto the street where it won't hit people, and as disgusting as it is, the phlegm has to go somewhere).

I don't mind if people smoke in the open air, I don't say anything to the scum, however occasionally I'll walk past and cough really blatantly to give them a hint.

People smoking indoors, to me that is not on. It's a proven health risk, and it will be better when smoking is banned in all indoor venues.

I have nothing major against smokers, but if they want sympathy when they have cancer, they won't be getting it from me.

That is gross.

If you drink plenty of water, you won't bring up so much phlegm.

Or worse still. They don't spray any!
True.

Bad BO is just as bad as spraying deodorant. It can stink out the bus if you are travelling on the bus.

Fart gas is another thing that happens. If that is sprayed on the bus, you cannot get rid of the smell.

You will if you're sick! Trust me, it only took three hours for me to fill 6 hankies the other day when I was crook. You really can't help it!

Bringing up phlegm when you're well, that's another story. And that is gross.

Yuck.

When you have a cold or chest infection that can last for three weeks, trust me, you bring up so much phlegm that it can make you really crook.

It has taken me over 4 weeks to get rid of this chest infection.

Yuk, thanks very much. I had a mouth full of chocolate when I read that.
Very true. We have just had a break up party for our course that has just finished. Some of the stuff that was posted put me off eating any of the party food.

No that is women with their bloody Impulse crap.

Hafta disagree there hoggy. Dunno what causes it, but whenever I smell impulse (not too strong) on a girl it really turns me on!

I think too much of anything is by definition too much.
