Someone give David Smorgan a towel! Why you sweating Smorgo? I am sure it wasn't that hot in the studio?

Must be Caroline's stunning looks and charisma. Brucey was also cooking under the lights as well.

Just shown on talking Richmond, Round 3 1997 Nick Daffy elbowing Rohan Smith in the face, off the ball, which opened up Smiths face requiring seven stiches. It was blantant it was disgusting and it was Richmond. And who was the Richmond coach at the time ? The one and only, holier than thou, self righteous Robert Walls. And didn’t he look like and idiot with his typical lame excuse. No calling for Daffy to quit. What a thucking dickhead, and shown to be that on his own show!
What a bunch of hypocrits the Richmond media hacks are. Walls, Caroline Wilson, Hunt, that moron halfwit Steve Price, shown for what they are – sooky, squeling, weak will hyprocrits! There own side does it, not a word said, someone else does it ‘oh the world caves in’
Oh the beautiful irony. I hope you deluded morons who have hung drawn and quartered Liberatore, will look at the Daffy incident retrospectively and be reminded people in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones

Didn't you write the exact same thing in the other thread?

Talking Footy has become so crap - any man and his goat could make up a better programme about football.

Considering all the shit that he's been through, add to that two biased hypocritical media hacks after any slip up whatsover to nail him..... sweat or no sweat..... i thought he handled himself brilliantly! Thought he managed to put Walls in his place too. Well done David Smorgon.

Funny watching Walls' reaction to the incident G4E mentioned.

"err.. oh.... well Daffy wouldn't have been happy with that..."

Maybe we should infer that you sent him out to take out Smith, Wallsy? Would that be fair Wallsy? Maybe you should have told him to retire IF it was found that he struck him 100m off the ball when he wasn't looking, Wallsy... you stupid prick.

Well done David Smorgan. You handled Robert (w***er) Walls and Horrorhead with voice to match Wilson brilliantly. How thick is Walls after he was told Libba had only been suspended for 3 incidents (including sledging). He still tries to condone what Daffy did by saying Um er but he hasn't done that 6 times. Grow a brain Wallsy and Grow Up!

Actually i thought it made for good television. At least all concerned didnt hold back on there views, Smorgon was good but i reckon at least Wilson asked him some questions Sheean would have been to scared too,. INterestingly Smorgan defended Libba vigourosly which was good, but he didnt really defend him re the latest incident, in fact i reckon he left him out to dry a bit by stating in no uncertain terms that the wording of the apology was Libbas alone. He also made it clear that they werent happy with the incident at all. Great TV I reckon even if im in the minority

I thought Smorgan was very good. His comments about the sensationalism regarding the whole topic were true.
Libba was gone long before the tribunal made any moves to approach him. This would have made a great episode of "Front Line".
R.Walls is a D!ck.
I loved his comeback response after Smorgan stated that Libba was the leading tackler in the league : "oh...err... well it's easier to tackle when your small rather than tall".
His reponse after the Daffy footage was even less concinving.
The fact that Knights and Campbell didn't get reported for striking is ludicrous ??? Where is the consistency ?

well all i can say is that he didn't look too good!!!
sweating like a pig wasn't the best thing he could have been doing at this point in time for the club, libba and all.
but, i guess maby he was just nervice...

I luv shane woewodin. and the mighty dees whether or not you like it!!!

Well he was certainly very passionate but I thought it was quite silly to bring up an incident that happened three or four years ago.

You thought an incident which shows a Richmond player, under Robert Walls at the time, do EXACTLY the same thing of what Libba is accused of now as silly??

What was silly:
a) showing Walls as a hypocrite?
b) showing the difference in reaction to the incidents between the clubs?
c) the way it highlights the difference in media attention the two players/incidents have received?
d) the fact that USCarro told Smorgo that this kind of incident hasn't happened in the last five years, and Smorgo replied with the incident to prove her wrong again?
e) nothing came of that incident, yet there was clear footage of it?
e) all of the above?

Not barracking for either side I have no axe to grind here. Westy, was the Daffy incident 100 metres off the play? Given there was video footage of it (which I haven't seen), doesn't the lack of action suggest that in the eyes of the league it was a little more legit than what Libba did?

Why, have we all done the same too? I don't ever recall belting a bloke 100 metres off the ball, so if it's ok with you I will crticise him. And I don't barrack for Richmond.

I thought Smorgon was great last night, really got stuck into Wallsy and put him in his place. Loved the bit where he mentioned the Brownlow votes, onya Smorgon!! Of course Caro had to come to Walls' defence....where would he be without Caro coming to his aid.....

That's fair enough Dave.

Firstly, according to Smorgon when he mentioned it, he said it was '200 metres' away from the play. Obviously a bit of an exaggeration, but in saying that, the footage shows that they weren't in any contest when the incident occured.

Secondly, on the lack of action taken by the AFL. This is the reason the incident was brought up by Smorgon. Daffy elbowed Smith 100 metres off the play when he wasn't expecting it. Smith bled a fair bit, and had to have 7 stitches. What's the difference between that and what Libba supposedly did? The AFL didn't act on that at all... but get Libba involved.... and it's a different kettle of fish.

But to answer your question, IMO, it was not any more legit than the incident on Saturday. Add to this the the fact that the tribunal has based it on Campbell's word against Libba's, as opposed to actual footage, which IMO shows how inconsistent (hypocritical?) the AFL and the media is, especially when considering that the 97 incident didn't even go to the tribunal/get any media attention whatsoever.

You have every right to hate him, and to tell you the truth, I don't blame you if he did in fact do what he's been accused of. I wont believe it 'til I see it though, and I'll defend the little champ to the end.

I loved the way Smorgan conducted himself last night. Supported his players/club and gave Walls as good as he got.

Of course, silly me. Why would anyone want to discuss what he actually said when we can comment on how much the guy sweated.

By the way, did anyone else watch The Footy Show tonight?

If you missed it, Schwarz had a huge scratch on his face that happened during Saturday nights game

Could you imagine the uproar that would have developed if that game had been against the bulldogs?

Sainter,
Yes, I watched the Footy Show..It was the best one for ages..I feel its going off a bit of late maybe just needs refreshing.
Was that a scratch on David's face? Looked pretty bad, almost as if he had stitches.

I missed Talking Footy, hard to get used to it being on Tuesday.
Personally I like Caro (even tho she has been a tad unkind to the Demons). I feel she doesn't hold back if certain parties/topics (e.g.the AFL Commission) need addressing.

Cheers
GO DEMONS AND STORM
