Spoke about the review. Pretty much the same as the article that appears in the Hearld Sun today. Main points:

* Club spends $12.1 million on the entire footy department which has not delivered. Need to find out why.

* The entire club is moving forward, record membership, good sponsporship $$'s, community serive groups going well, redevelopment going well, only on field performance is below par.

* Undecide about personal future, will make a decision prior to election in Dec, still enjoys the role, but has personal issues he needs to tend to.

* Club has accepted mediocrity for to long and this has to change (Heard that all before)

* Finally, signed off by telling Bulldogs supporters to have faith that this review will get to the bottom of the problems and that we will rebound strongly.

I stood next to Smorgon yesterday when it got close to the end of the game. The guy looked livid! I've never seen him look so mad.

I would love it if he went on again and into the future.

I still have faith and will sign up again next year. What worries me is that after this dreadful season I can see us losing anywhere between 3 - 5,000 members which would be a disaster for the club. It will be interesting to see what the target is for 2008.

Smorgan is representing us in regards to giving the players ''not good enough'' . I agree entirely with having a review this season,as the performance was insipid. I'd heard that some people at the club were annoyed with Scott West's comments in the hun on Saturday. Well f*** me some of them are upset at some home truths spoken.Well Boo f***** Hoo.

Ive got great faith in Smorgon I just don't have faith in nearly anyone in the football department anymore except for Chris Bond. I hope as hell we don't lose him because I truly believe he will be our senior coach sooner rather than later. If I was in charge he would get signed up now for three years as head coach and Id let him go through our list with a samurai sword. Cut cut cut players, fitness staff, assistant coaches. A total overhaul. Give the bloke 3 years to rebuild dont waste time with the same lame ducks. Otherwise we are just going to hear stupid metaphors and cliches ie "no stone will remain unturned" or the now classic "the recession we had to have". The fact is next year we will lose memberships no doubt and Im not sure some little review will win people back. For my mind only a major upheaval will restore peoples faith. Now I prepare to be flamed.

Bond might possibly be the man for the job!
If no progress is made during the course of the next season, we could do a lot worse than appoint special agent 007 for the job!

Bond applied for the 4 vacant positions and got nothing, not even on the shortlist on Melbourne. What makes you say he will be better then Eade. He is in charge of our midfield, how well has our midfield played this year?

What does it say about him been an assistant coach?

I think he would be tougher than Eade I just get that feeling from whenever Ive seen him speak. I think he might be able to get something out of the players where Eade over the last 6 weeks hasnt been able to get anything. Even when he sprays and yells he gets nothing, zip, zilch reply. I think Bond has done a long apprenticeship, he's been assistant under Terry Wallace who is a great coach. I know alot of bulldogs people still sook Wallace left but he's the best coach we've had in my 26 years of supporting the club the proof is in the pudding and I quite liked making the finals on a regular basis. Chris Bond knows the list and he would make the tough decisions to not only move our list forward but he has wanted a senior coaching position for so long that he has the hunger to take the opportunity with two hands and make a real go of it. He would bring energy and new ideas and for me that has so clearly been lacking all year as our game plan was continually locked down and our coach seemed absolutely powerless to do anything about it.
As for not being picked by any other club Im wrapt because the longer he hangs around the more likely he is to get a gig with us. Just because Melbourne and Carlton made the wrong decision not to pick up Bondy doesnt mean he isnt any good. And as far as Im concerned the midfield coach can't do much more than instruct players and our midfield has a pea heart between them so what do you expect him to do.

Your comments about Wallace are embarassing.

I really think that you overrate Wallace. You smash Eade for taking us backwards, yet continue to praise a coach who has gone from winning nine games in 2006 to only three this year. Don't know too many great coaches who end up with three wins for the year.

So Bond escapes your ire for managing the most culpable area of our team for our dismal performance this year, yet Eade is somehow not afforded the same benefit of the doubt?

I'm not having a go at Bond either. I think he is a talented guy. But just as you say all Bond can do is instruct the players, the same goes for Eade and that is my point.
Ultimately for our terrible 07 it is up to the players to accept the burden of responsibility for their sub par performances... and pushing for the coach to be changed right now is plain wrong and no matter who you put in charge they would be faced with the same dilemma as Eade is facing ... a list that needs alot of scrutiny and some hard decision to be made.
I think Eade is still the right man for the job.

Good thing you are typing your comments 1954 and not using your mouth because it would be damn difficult to speak with that foot of yours well and truly planted in your mouth.

What worried me about West comments was that only 3 players prepare themselves right each week. West, Cross and Boyd.

Now preparations mean everything, from getting a good night sleep, eating correctly etc. Now that’s a big call from someone who would know. Very worrying and should be addressed in the review. These guys are paid enough yet are not working hard enough by the sound of things.

Our midfield setup is terrible. We stand way too close to the bounce, whenever a Bulldogs player gets the ball we are standing still, and have to accelerate. Most teams have 1-2 players standing further away, so when they get the ball they are at least moving.

Bond & Campbell as midfield & stoppage coaches respectively have some real thinking to do over summer. The game has moved on from "West at the bottom of the pack handballs".

I'd be happy to get rid of Bond and a few assistants. I think as head coach Eade does a good job, but maybe a change of support is needed.

Absolutely unfounded with no real reason for the suggestion, but we've had the same assistants for the last few years so maybe it's time to change it up? Especially the midfield.

Fact is that Wallace took over our club at rock bottom, we were financially in a giant black hole and our football team was getting smashed. We were down and out but in the space of just over 12 months he took us to a preliminary final and we choked and probably could have one the flag. Then he took us to another preliminary final. Then he took us to finals for two more consecutive years. Thats four consecutive years. In my 26 years of barracking for the dogs no other coach has had that much success with this club. And thats pure fact. And to be honest I think that most people on here if you went through the 1997 list next to the 2006 list most people on here would have argued we had a better list in 2006. I wouldnt dare compare the 2007 list because frankly after this season theyd struggle to match up against the 2003 list forget the 97 list.

So apparently Bond has all these great ideas but is such a shrinking violet the is unable to convince Eade to try any of them:rolleyes: Perhaps the reason Bond is missing out on the coaching jobs coming up on a regular basis is because the other clubs believe his preferred playing style is the one he has helped build under three different coaches...Wallace, Rohde and Eade. Downhill skiiers anyone?

Reading Murphy's article from a few weeks back. He talked about preparing for the game - so what does a footy player have for lunch prior to a big game? Spaghetti on toast! WTF:eek:

Wallace in his first year after stabbing Joyce in the back finished 3rd, then 4th, 6th, then 8, then 10th, then 12th, are you getting a pattern here. When he left the club he left the playing group bare. It took 3 years to recover from his great coaching and some of the players still play with his bad habits. He is now building Richmond into a skinny, quick, skillfull bunch of looses. Do us all a favour and don't mention that name again.

I believe Bond is a good coach, but we seriously need a fresh change in their. He's been at the club for about 7-8 years with limited success. It will help players like Cross and Boyd that have been around for a bout 5 years to here some new things. Cameron also has to go, I don't know how he is our defensive coach, he was more an attacting defender come midfielder. Then we have Wellman who played as a defender as our forward coach.

Call me stupid, but doesn't make sense to me.

I would put Wellman as our defensive coach, get a new forward and midfield coach. Get a new fitness and conditioning coach and also get a football manager, someone with experience, maybe an ex-senior coach.

Also get rid of Campbell, how much have we improved at our stopages,
we have gone backwards and get Wynd back fulltime as ruck coach.

Loading up on carbs maybe? Makes sense to me.

If it was spaghetti bolognaise - it would make sense to me. If it was spaghetti out of a can - it doesn't make sense to me.
