I'm warming to the idea of Busslinger. As you say we need a fair bit since we're at ground level of the rebuild.

WC fans seem to want mids with every pick this year, but a pairing of Bazzo and Busslinger is fortifying the backline for 10 years potentially.
I am too, especially since we moved back. There was always the worry we would have reached for him at 2 and 8 feels more appropriate.

Having said that, I would be equally happy with one of Busslinger, Ginbey, Hewett or Phillipou at 8.

We do have a real need for mids at WC, but that process has started with Chesser, Culley & Hough. Best talent available in my thinking, and hope one of the other 3 slips to our next pick.

Hey mate, as a fellow tiger with picks 53 & 63 which should come in a few, who are some likely sliders that would suit us?
Correct me if I'm wrong but I think the tigers will use picks in the rookie draft to pick up one or 2 recently richmond delisted players. I don't think they will draft for a primary list spot unless they can get higher up.

Yeah, it’s hard, they may grab a few big guys if they slide, picks could easily come into being around 49 and 55 with some picks disappearing and four or five possible bids.
34 Senior spots currently with 3 rookies and 1 cat B.
So they may hope for someone to slide like Phoenix Foster, or Olivier Northam may be there anyway.
They wouldn’t have grabbed 2 picks from gws if they did not intend on using them, plus they always say that someone has been delisted with the promise to be re-rookied but this time nothing.
They may rookie someone else or pick up a delisted free agent to satisfy list needs. I would say with the recruiting of the last few years and the trades they may look to find developable KPP’s.
I actually, and personally, would love Foster to be available for our first pick as he has shown some very developable traits and movement, but chances are slim, not impossible, but slim.

What's his forward craft like?

What's his forward craft like?
Not bad, plenty of traits there to be tapped into. Good athletically, good contested marker, tackles when he can and tackles hard. Leads well, and has a good kicking style at goal. His potential dual positionality (is that a word) is enticing too. Definite 30/35+ pick, so he may be available at those late picks. Northam has bucket hands and mongrel, attacks the contest hard and tackles hard and can kick goals, kicks big, like a friggen mule. Has good hands around the contest too but not much finesse.

:geelong: Blake Drury
:port: Will Verrall
:richmond: Olivier Northam
:geelong: Billy Dowling

After that brisbane may take 1 more, they are keen on Bennier, Nth may have to match a Harvey bid, Gws might take Rowston or Madden really late or match on either if needed but hope 1 or both get through to the rookie draft. All of that would take it to around 55/56 picks in my opinion.

I can’t see how the Lions do these trades when you can only take in as many picks as they have spots available

Hey Smythe I don't mean this as a rude question just a genuine one. Do you watch much SA footy? I only ask because I just can't see any of Phoenix Foster, Tom Scully, Archie Lovelock, AD, Will Verrall or Billy D get taken before Jacob Ryan. There is barely a chance that Archie is taken in the draft for mine but I could be wrong.

I assume you accidentally left him out but I could be wrong on that as well. Can I ask what makes you think Phoenix will be taken that high? I just don't see how he could be ahead of Max M at all unless there are no bids on Max but there will be for sure in my humble.

That Bulldog trade is horrible.

Move back 7 spots in the first round, to move up 3 picks from 39 to 32 (Lions have 4 selections in this range that mostly don’t exist when the trade is made). Then the Bulldogs according to you don’t use the pick 39 anyway. [emoji1751]

It’s one of the worst trades I have seen. You are usually better than this Smythe.

Excellent pick up, I had him early but then deleted when I had Adelaide move up for Barnett and forgot to put him in, however when I changed my draft he was going to port and somehow I put Jaiden Magor there and he was supposed to be the WB pick 39, of which, I didn’t even type up . It has been changed and fixed, thank you.
With Archie, he shows a little something to work with, I think with the loss of Rankine it came down to Archie or Seth Campbell for that late pick for Gold Coast and I went with Archie. I see a fair bit of potential to work with when it comes to Foster. Great hands, tackles, leads well, rucks well, and that dual positional type is where clubs are heading with the bigger guys. He shows athleticism and has Draft able traits.
This season has some real talent at the top end after that you could throw a blanket over almost 30 of them, I see this years Draft as a role players Draft where you may only see a handful at most from picks 20 onwards reach a long career. There will be a lot of ‘best available…for the roles we need‘ this year and some surprising names read out at Draft night.

It was great at the time, but on second look…yeah.
changed it and added the pick 39 which I did have them taking but forgot to type it up, thank you for picking that one up.
I don’t know if I am better than this, I usually stuff up a few things and you folk point them out to me, I actually forgot to put Jakob Ryan in as well which was an error because he was on my rough draft, I just forgot to type it in here :drunk:

Unless GWS are throwing a much earlier pick back at us (like pick 15) and/or an early future pick with pick 19, I would stay put and just draft Holland.

We really don’t need pick 31. Pick 31 is kind of useless, we could just stay put and draft ~18 picks later at the end of the draft, like lots of others will do. A F1 from GWS would be a more appropriate price to move up in the first round (us giving our F2 back in exchange). I wouldn’t do it for their F2, it’s not worth the trouble.

The trade shouldn’t actually happen.

I love this except for the noticeable lack of Noah Long
Yeah, I really struggled with him, I had him going to either the saints or Geelong with their last pick then changed it and then again went back and forth. You and I both know he will be on an AFL list next year regardless of this little phantom anyway.

No way north trade pick 3 and especially not to carlton.
Like the rest.
I would prefer us to take a tall lemmey northam broadbent phillips all options - with our r3 pick.

you think North would draft both Wardlaw and Tastas keeping Mates together would be the best way for the Kangaroos

Maybe they don’t, maybe they do, there is word they have interest in Jefferson, so this way it makes sense, they get him and a future first whilst also having a pick in the top 3 giving them 1 of the clear top 5 kids of the year and several first rounders next year. Something else may have to come with that sort of trade as a sweetener as Carlton will be banking on improving that draft pick next year so let’s say 10 and 12 for 3, nth would probably get something else thrown in If they were to do it.
Lemmey definitely came into consideration for Geelong late as did Phillips for Essendon. Lemmey has shown the talent and Phillips may go in the ND as he has probably shown a bit more than some of the kids this year but I left them to the rookie draft.
