Andrew Dillon’s boy Snoop Dogg has once again voiced some questionable options on homosexuality, saying that he doesn’t want to see lesbian relationships in film.

Will this be the tipping point?

How much are they paying him to perform? And how much are they paying him to keep his homophobic rants off the agenda for the day?

Didn't realise people in SA Were such great allies until last Sunday.

AFL should suspend his ass for 5 weeks. Or 4 if he has compelling medical reasons.

I thought even the most homophobic men liked seeing a bit of girl-on-girl action....

Seriously what a strange choice by the AFL. The dude has been charged with murder, sexual assault, produced hardcore pr0n films, is a rampart homophobe. It's like they forgot to google the guy when they booked him for a few million.

So. The AFL supports and sanctions a match called ‘Spud’s Game’ in honour of a player, coach and media personality who took his own life, to raise awareness for mental health and suicide.

Two years ago the AFL booked Kiss, who’s most famous member notoriously said he was tired of hearing people threaten suicide and said that if people ever did that with him he would simply tell them to go ahead and do it.

And he’s been accused of sexual harassment.

They’ve had Paul Kelly, a notorious heroin addict and philanderer which probably isn’t an image they are trying to promote as such.

Likewise Robbie Williams a confessed substance abuser who’s dabbled with hookers etc.

Barnesy was certainly no saint either that’s for sure.

There are a hell of a lot of people that have performed that have broken a lot of laws and stuff that conflict with images and standards that the afl would like to portray.

It seems like this is what happens when the AFL consistently gets 50+ year old performers who haven’t been relevant in decades. No surprises that some have pretty retrograde views.

They should get a younger, more relevant artist, such as Azealia Banks.

They should get Kim Petras to do **** pop. Get the trans audience on side and there are so many bops on that ep

In all seriousness this is massively embarrassing now for the AFL. Dilldo comes out and makes a speech how snoop has changed and he's mature and different now. Then 2 days later snoop says he doesn't want his kids to see movies because there might be a gay person.

Barnsey might be looking for a warm up gig for his Working Class Man Anniversary tour. He's Australian rock and roll's cuddly grandad these days, nobody could object to him. That said performance wise I preferred vodka and a couple of grams as a warm up Jimmy.

The AFL are full of shit, this isn't new. Eddie McGuire is a dog with a bone when he has a gripe with something and the AFL's drug policy is one of those things. Did LOL when he said Snoop self reported and was given a warning.

My biggest gripe with all the posturing the AFL does (and the clubs, and many others outside the AFL system) is where do you draw the line? Sydney have a pride game and one of their major sponsors is Qatar Airways. The AFL take money from gambling, fast food, alcohol sponsorships... hell you can argue that Toyota are bad too if you like because they operate factories that make cars and both of those things are bad for the planet.

Snoop Dogg has been releasing music for 30 years. I don't care if you like him, hate him, object on moral grounds etc. but it's not like he's an unknown quantity. I don't think a single person that works at AFL HQ has listened to West Coast hip-hop before. I'm not the world's biggest fan but even I know that Dr Dre's 2001 has a marijuana leaf on it. The Up In Smoke tour wasn't welcome to country.... It's not "nice" music, which is why it got banned from airplay. Without the Rankine suspension the whole homophobia issue probably blows over, but it's a bit rich to try and play the 'questionable character' card after you've already hired him. If he has to align with 'AFL values' he never should have been anywhere near the bill to start with.

Personally I am not bothered by any of those artists performing. Society determines which artists are popular and the AFL should pick from that. Music is about free expression and the AFL absolutely is not. They are different worlds. If you start filtering music acts based on things you don't want to see in AFL players then you will end up with a very short list of names to pick from.
