Great read Snoop I always enjoy your write ups as your opinion is one I give a lot of credit.

I must say though If the draft turned out this way for the Tigers I would be a bit disappointed.

The lack of height in the players we've taken is a bit of a turn off but thanks again for the great read.

Oh and also I have heard Puopolo will be drafted by the dogs. Whether it's rookie or national I'm not sure.

Impressive Snoop. Thanks for the run down :)

If Bennell/ Day were to slide to pick 4 you can be certain that West Coast will pounce on them. Highly unlikely that Day wont be selected by Gold Coast but and even less likely that Bennell will last.

So pick 4 as you can see i'm more interested in Gaff than Polec, Heppell or Atley. The talk pre draft is West Coast are into Gaff and i think he fits our needs really well. Really good chance to get early senior exposure especially with new sub rule.

Pick 26: Josh Green or a local draftee. Green will be a handy pick up uif he can slide that far. Think Brisbane's pick 25 might pip our pick 26 for him but. Out of the locals my first preference is Conca if he can slide that far, next preference Hamp, than Cripps. I rate Cripps very highly but we are getting a similar player in Brennan under father/ son later in the draft

Pick 28 (Priority) Depends what happens with pick 26. Again a local player would be great. Hamp if we dont get him at 26 is option 1 or Cripps if we are interested.

Not sure exactly which picks we have after pick 28 but i think we will look out for the best available needs based players or upgrading rookies. Hopefully another ruckman in the mix to. There will be some upgrades with Strijk and Wilson. Depeneding on what happens with list management hopefully we can elevate Hams and or Stevenson to

One certainty is Jacob Brennan with our final pick

Thx pal
I think your blokes are only using the three.
Can see Gaff at 4 but I just thought Polec a better fit.

Well done Snoop. Excellent read as always.

One question, doesn't Geelong have a priority pick also? They traded one to GC but shouldn't they have the second one straight after GC? Sorry, I may be missing something.

Cheers

I thought they did but am assured they don't.

Great read as per usual Snoop.

What are your thoughts on Lycett? :p

I don't particularly rate Barden, having seen him live a number of times he just doesn't strike me as someone who is capable of filling a KP role in te AFL. As you have said he doesn't have any outstanding athletic qualities and his skills are just okay, the thing he does give is 100% effort. He is a decent size for an under 18 competition but I don't think that will translate into AFL standard performance and IMO is more likely a rookie selection.

I think you under rate Aaron Young's midfield ability and the roles he was required to play for Metro. He had plenty of stints in the midfield and was used to fill roles down back and up forward, I think he will go earlier than that.

It certainly will be interesting to see where some of the mature agers are selected particularly Sewell, Smith and Hartigan. I would love the Blues to give Sewell and Hartigan a chance but would be more inclined to rookie Hartigan if he is likely to last that long. I agree that Sewell would be a good fit for the Blues with his neat disposal, not sure about his hardness at the footy though, can you give me some insight into that?

I think Harper could slide to late first round, he's just not consistent enough. I'm pretty sure in that game where he kicked 4.4 or whatever it was he only had 10 disposals or a number close to that. He is a fantastic athlete though which could see him taken where you have him.

Fantastic draft and one that I always look forward to reading. Great work.

Thx pal
Lycett - outstanding and still can't believe I have let him slip that far. On best available he should go at 12 and demon fans seem to be saying they will. Will be a super ruck /fwd

Barden - can see the logic. He does have ok endurance though

Harper - yeah again it's very plausible but just think someone like cats orb hawks will love him.

Sewell - no problem winning own footy. If you want a ready made ball winner then someone like summerton from port is worth a rookie spot.

Hartigan - had him at Carlton for a while. Would be a nice fit

Ps If you could see my notes you wouldn't think that I underscore Young....I am a fan...a big one.

Not bad Snoop. I like 3 of the 4 picks. Why do Iget the feeling that pick 30 will be another Hislop. I would stay away from Tasmanian mids for a while if I were picking them.

I don't like bagging players but my love affair with tas mids is waning......I usually have them 20 spots to high........but Green is different........just ask TFLUA Tiger...;)

Good read...is there any chance of lamb sliding to the lions pick 25? I really want us to get some xfactor into our forward line. If not what are the other options for a classy small or medium forward?

I really doubt it after DC unfortunately
You should look at milera, yu, Stevens, bamblett, ugle, Reid, dahlaus as possibles. Personally I like milera.

Don't see us taking Harper ahead of Watson, or Caddy, or even a quick player like Prestia, or a really skilled one like Pitt.

You are right that we need speed, but we need speed in a genuine midfielder, not a HFF, as we have too many of those players already. In regards to your question at 23 about inside or outside mid, you'll find that will be Wells' call more so than Scott's and he's already made pretty clear we need a quick outside mid, so I think you can rule out Parker on that basis, he's not the right fit for our midfield.

I think you'll also find we'll end up using picks 57 and 58, I'd wait for the list lodgements before you assume we won't.

I love the fact you've given us Litherland though...either he or Delaney would be a perfect fit for our needs.

Anyway, all that aside, you've done really well with the phantom draft and credit to you for your detailed write ups as always, they are some of the best on here.

Your post in the other thread suggests you won't use 58 as unsure there is anyone to delist.
I rate Weston so think he reduces need for Watson.....but just my view.
Lot of talk you blokes are into Prestia......be surprised if Caddy lasted that long but would be a no brainer.

Great effort Snoop. For someone like me who has know idea about or exposure to any of the players you've detailed, this is a wonderful read. Your depth of knowledge in this area is unsurpassed. I think I'm looking forward to Lycett at #12!!

Suprised you dont have essendon picking up a ruckman. After Laycock and Bock leaving we really need another one. Dont know if we would talk two talls forwards with Joe Daniher coming next year via f/s. Also bit scared about picking up a tasmanian as they havnt seem to come good for us.

Didn't rate any high enough but believe Hille, Ryder, Belly and ben brown would be ample plus a rookie

Rankine is surprisingly low. I’d love Collingwood to take him as a forward.

Not sure we need Chalwell and Frost. One tall defender is probably enough.
Pretty tall backline already with: Presti, Tarrant, Reid, N.Brown, J.Anthony.

Hibbard is interesting and didn’t expect that. Not sure we need a HBFer, but certainly fits our plans for immediate players and could play a midfield role. If we like him no reason why we won’t take him.

Interesting you have Gaff and Crocker joining Daniel Jackson at Richmond who is also from Carey.

Pretty consistant overall with Chris25's draft and mine. Not too many unexpected ones. But your notes are first rate and easily the best published so far.

Great draft again Snoop. :thumbsu:

Thx pal. Will be reading yours shortly.
Chalwell is more a fwd prospect whereas Frost is more full back. Did you have those blokes in or out. With Carter, Presti, Brown, Tarrant getting on or delisted I think we need some cover in either of the drafts here.
Hibberd is just a player I like. May not be for us though.
Surprised to hear rankine is higher on others.....good but not top 50 for me.

You said Kruse was unlucky not to be selected but you selected him just to let you know...and do you think that all those guys you mentioned that were unlucky to miss out will go in the rookie draft.

History says they won't but they are all next best for me. It is very open though.

Just wondering if you think Richmond would be reaching by taking Pitt at 6? I'm of the belief that we need an outside option and Pitt strikes me as the type we should target, i.e. has great footskills, finds space and can break lines.

Look he can do all those things you seek and Boak surprised us all a few years ago so yeah it would be possible. Lovely player....

I'm surprised Essendon supporters haven't picked this up. If Guthrie slipped this far, Essendon would be drooling and i'm sure they would take him. Along with Caddy, this would fit their needs to a tee.

Would also love to hear your thoughts on Wallis and Libba.

Gosh your phantom drafts are darn good though Snoop.

Libba and Wallis are both easily top 15 for me.
Yeah Guthrie did slip a bit and would be a good fit but I like Green a touch more. Little difference though.

Great effort Snoop. For someone like me who has know idea about or exposure to any of the players you've detailed, this is a wonderful read. Your depth of knowledge in this area is unsurpassed. I think I'm looking forward to Lycett at #12!!

Yeah he is good.

Yeah dogs have said keen on him and to cease all dog fans from hanging me will slip him in.

Re Tigers, will have to check but thought you had a few tall blokes but seems many of you don't rate steinberg or astbury. Had solly in mind but just didn't think he would work with roo jnr

Fantastic read:thumbsu:
I look forward to your draft every year, and yet again I haven't been let down.

As for West Coast's picks, the general consensus is we'll take one of Gaff, Polec or Heppell at 4, a speedy OM at 26/28, and a tall at 26/28. So you covered that. I'd personally be very happy with Luke Mitchell at 26/28, but he told me himself WC had not spoken to him.:thumbsd: At 28, if Cripps is available (which I dont think he will) I'd be shocked if we passed on him. And I think we'd be more likely to take Andreoli then Newton. Were also very keen on Chalwell at 28, and Menagola's another smokey. We'd definitely take Darling if he makes it to our pick 26.

Thx pal - good insight. Not surprised chalwell high up than I had him. Many eastern sea boarders would be happy if Mitchell goes past you.

A lot of thought, so well done. Though it's difficult to know how good you are at rating footballers. When Carlton drafted Chris Johnson two years ago you thought he was a good pick up. When you were told by Melbourne supporters that he was soft you argued the point and agreed to disagree.

Nonetheless...

Look he can do all those things you seek and Boak surprised us all a few years ago so yeah it would be possible. Lovely player....
Thanks Snoop, rumour floating around that the Tigers have settled on a Vic midfielder who would shock as the player for pick 6. Looking at the phantom drafts on here it would certainly shock most of the posters on here if we did take Pitt that early.

Ta .... Wouldn't put a heap of stock in my thoughts and haven't seen anyone always get it right.

Yeah you guys didn't like Johnson much but Carlton saw enough in him to draft and play him. Was worth the punt even though hasn't worked. Saw he spat the dummy though.....

Pitt would fit that. Prestia another who might be considered a shock there. Would Caddy be a shock?

Haven't read it all yet, but Luke Thompson will be upgraded as a rookie instead of Schmidt, has been confirmed by the club. Looks pretty spot on so far though, and a nice summary of Sebby.

Yeah, also missed out the upgrade of Ricky Henderson.

Our rookie situation is:

Upgrades: Henderson, Jaensch and L. Thompson
Retained Rookies: Schmidt, Wright and Riley(NSW Scholarship)
NSW Upgrade: Sam Martyn
Delist: Brian Donnelly(Irish recruit)
