Bombers. Demons and oob rookies relatively low post numbers when you consider the teams they're in. Ubiq and M.Jelley helping bump up the numbers of lower post teams which the engagement squad have been crying about as a need for a while, so clearly Matthew Jelley should win the EKA. It just makes sense.

I really like the fact that we have become a dynamic forward line duo that support each other to no end in such a short space of time

A great example of what has grabbed me to keep being involved

It's been a fantastic partnership. We have the best forward line in the league. You, Dory_77 and I are potent, enthusiastic, attractive and just a real handful for defenders.

Definitely the most fun I've had in a season for a few years, so thanks for that :) winning helps but it's the teammates that truly make a season. I'm really proud of The Gumbies and the group we are assembling.

The EKA Medal is awarded to the best rookie for the season and is determined via a 3-2-1 vote for all nominees by the teams of the Sweet FA, via the committee.

I’d like to offer my congratulations to the rookies that took the top three spots (out of a wide field right LG PM’s?):

In third place, from the Bombers, WAbulldog

In second place, from the Demons, All Aust

And our winner and the next victim of the EKA curse, well done to sabso from the Ophidian Old Boys, their third winner in their short lifetime.

sabso
All Aust
WAbulldog

You guys came Top 3 in the EKA last season … do you remember the night it was announced?

Any thoughts in hindsight about your rookie season?

Did you notice any of this season’s rookies?

Thanks Kilroy,

On the night I was in the thread a little after the announcement. I posted thanks, having known the the award voting process. Not knowing the outcome.

Prior to, serial_thrilla had started an EKA thread, somewhat critical, somewhat ignorant of S39 rookie input into the season. Part of the guts of the thread was for rookies to make a case for themselves. My sole? contribution to this thread was along the lines of:
You' re a lazy Campaigner. Because

The season match threads are the place where you contribute, converse, cooperate, battle, bant. Tag on, find a niche.
I probably averaged around 30 posts per match last yr. Not exactly silent.

It is also acknowledged, that some players have much history in this game, old standing banters / poster personas can be a little closed, a little confusing for a rookie. How do you join in? What might be your niche? Your Skill?

sabso has an online cafe, WAbulldog posts are uniquely delightful. Mine fire off in bizarre tangents, tenuously linked to a theme that rarely stays the same. Weird.

I do not vote on the EKA so I put no thought into who might be best. Certainly enjoyed the posting of those that who posted > 25.S40 has been a low post season.
There are opportunities for all numbers to improve. For the experienced to engage, maybe coax an extra 20 posts from the shy.

Fulfill a SFA goal..... Improve online communication and team skills.

This is a community announcement on behalf of All Rust.

The S40 rooks have somehow managed to outdo the S39 in terms of irrelevance. It's incredible.

Sounds right.

He was a force of nature before got his fingers burnt. Grand Uncle Horace used to defend his at times bitter recriminations

Pamcake1 is one pushing for a rookies Users Guide, but it may take a team to put one together

You guys are already carving your names on the walls.

S40 has been a low post season.

That’s pretty much my experience of serial_thrilla - somewhat critical, somewhat ignorant.

Personally I believe good leaders have the biggest influence on rookie development. Tigerturbulance encourages the team to engage and banter with others, and not to take things too seriously.

Jeez, give them a chance to get their sea legs why dontcha.

Anyone seasoned or not, would find it a task to shine in the more dynamic teams of this season.

What you are in effect saying here and this type of attitude (yeh you're not the only one) is '101 how to scare off a Rookie and make them feel lacking/ swipe any confidence or pleasure they may have or desire to develop'.

No wonder this league lacks diversity of personalities, continually sees a precipitous drop off of Rookies and their enagement, let alone reluctance to join in the first place.

(insert meme here to sugar coat the ignorance, arrogance, lack of seeing past ones nose, headlong slide into monocultural irrelevancy.)

Both of them at times require a bit of context to decipher their meaning but you could say the same about most of us.

They just push buttons more readily.

Don't know where you got any of that. That's not what I'm saying. Tongue was largely and firmly in cheek and even if it wasn't I'm really not sure how you arrive at that point. I wouldn't read anything I post with any great weight or meaning, just stirring and spruiking my rookie.

Uh huh, the META conversation, the more grandiose thought patterning that any convo/post on this league, should never dare dip a toe in some kind of reality of actually saying something of any value...........................................................
