Did anyone notice in the blizzard of sport over the long weekend the Britrish Lions opened their tour of Australia by beating Western Australia 116-10

Yep thats right - 116 to 10 !

Now I do realise that WA is an Aussie Rules state and the strength of the Rugby Union team is nowhere near the qualioty and depth you could expect in NSW or Queensland but wtf went wrong ?

- Isn't Wa supposed to be crammed full of ex-pat Nzers and ex-pat South Africans who can all play a bit of rugger ?

- I thought WA Rugby was supposed to be booming ? , so much so that they want a Perth-based team in the Super 12 don't they ?

Totally wishful thinking if this games scoreline is anything to judge.

Rugby in WA doesn't seem to have have 'come on' at all over the last few years, on this form WA would struiggle to beat even an average club side from the Eastern Seaboard.

I don't know for certain if the Lions will play Victoria but even the Vics would be able to put up a better showing than WA did on the weekend.

So much for WA being touted as the 'next big thing' in Australian Rugby Union huh ?

cheers
