Yeah ... Daniel's use in transition will be improved by either moving him upfield or having more movement in front of him. The second thing is vital anyway whether he's there or not. Parker's value is in his toughness and his fight as much as anything else. He might be the first of them to make way if they learn that stuff from him/improve quickly enough.

Daniel up the ground is worth a try, WB decided in the end that was the best option with him. He is a neat short kick, so could be useful going inside fifty. He can't play in defense with his lack of penetration. He doesn't either defend or attack, and he needs to do both. As a rebounder, you can't always wait for players up the ground to provide options for you, you have to take off before they appear and create them yourself. If you wait, the opposition sets up their zone and you get trapped. Going through Daniel would regularly result in us getting stuck in the back half.

Parker seems more like a personal mentor for Wardlaw than anything else. If he gets the most out of George, maybe that is enough. He adds toughness and structure around stoppages but is largely useless after them. If we want to fix our transition issues, we can't afford for him to spend much time in the midfield next season.

That's all fair enough but its not just Daniel that has these issues when kicking out. McKercher has them too. He's got pace and a better or longer kick on his side but its still an issue for him when he kicks out. It was something I saw alot of last season cos they showed alot of behind the goal footage.

Other players kicked out too, I think Hardeman was one.

Larkey in the captain interview mentioned Parker helping the boys with leadership and being a mentor. Probably a big part of his role too.
