Re: A-League 2011/2012 kits

So Newcastle have completely got rid of the gold? maybe they'll have it as a third strip?

There are gold accents on the home strip, but this colour scheme is a very deliberate choice by Nathan Tinkler (home colours shared with Newcastle Knights, change colours used by Northern NSW rep teams, apparently).

Re: A-League 2011/2012 kits

A-League clubs don't usually have third strips I believe.

True, but thought they might come into existence soon. Especially with all the changes happening atm.

Re: A-League 2011/2012 kits

Brisbane reportedly to have three strips. They'll all use this puma template. Home is all orange with white and black accents, black shorts, and orange socks; Away to be all black, with an orange top; Blue with an orange accent with white shorts to be the third.

Read the FourFourTwo forums. They're full of pretty reliable information.

I've heard multiple times that the Victory, Shitney and the Phoenix are with adidas now. Hope it is true.

Re: A-League 2011/2012 kits

Football Federation Australia today released the Hyundai A-League 2011/12 season draw live through host broadcast partner Fox Sports and Fox Sports News.

The Hyundai A-League will this season start in a brand new football window with an all new kick-off set for October 8 with a feast of opening Week 1 clashes including Melbourne Victory v Sydney FC, Perth Glory v Adelaide United, and the Hyundai A-League 2011 Grand Final re-match between 2011 Champions Brisbane Roar and Central Coast Mariners at Suncorp Stadium.
While the much anticipated first week of action will feature the Hyundai A-League 2011 Grand Final re-match, the first three weeks of football will offer even more with huge clashes set to ignite Hyundai A-League season seven with Adelaide United taking on Melbourne Victory at Hindmarsh Stadium in Week 2 and three titanic battles in Week 3 when Brisbane Roar host Gold Coast United, Newcastle Jets take on Central Coast Mariners and Victory re-launch their battle for Melbourne supremacy against Heart.
In addition to the bumper start to the Hyundai A-League 2011/12 season, the draw also contains further significant changes to the schedule including:
• A reduced number of mid-week games from 30 to 10, clustered in the December to January summer holiday period allowing more fans and families to watch the game they love during the holidays.
• To assist and broaden community visibility and engagement with the Hyundai A-League Regional Rounds have been introduced where five matches involving all 10 Hyundai A-League clubs will be played in new regions to give more quarters of Australia a taste of live Hyundai A-League action.
• Less back-to-back games for clubs and fans with a more regular ‘week in, week out’ feel to the season - 27 rounds with 13 home games for each club spread over 25 weeks.
• A regular 8.00pm east coast Friday night timeslot for football on Fox Sports and more consistent programming to get your weekly football fix
And in a Hyundai A-League first, Wednesday 4 January, will see a football bonanza with five matches, back-to-back, starting in Wellington and moving through Melbourne, Newcastle and Gosford before finishing off in Perth for an amazing 11 hours straight of Hyundai A-League action, all live and exclusive on Fox Sports.
The 25 week, 27 round regular season will end on Sunday, 25 March and again the top six teams at the to feature in the Hyundai A-League 2012 Finals Series commencing on the weekend of March 30, 2012.
The Hyundai A-League 2011/12 season will also see a greater marketing effort with substantial increase in marketing spend and innovation in new digital channels and social media growing the Hyundai A-League into a bigger, brighter and more interactive season than ever before.

Re: A-League 2011/2012 kits

I also love the fixtures. The FFA have ticked all the boxes (so far) with version 7.

The 'midweek madness' round looks like it could be a good idea. Admittedly, it sounds like a novelty, but this league needs reinvigoration. There will be viewer fatigue, but it's sure to tin up some interest.

The regional round has to be done correctly. Forget north Queensland. Put a game in Wollongong or St. George, a game in Bendigo/Ballarat/Geelong, and a Tasmania game. Has to be done.

Pretty optimistic about the season. I'll be moving to Melbourne at the end of 2012, so hopefully the foundations for that season can be set this season. The appeal of going to a game at NIB just isn't as great as a match at AAMI.

Re: A-League 2011/2012 kits

Victory kits confirmed today, nice!
Adidas manufacturing both. The away strip is a bright yellow.

The home strip has the classic Adidas three white stripes along the shoulders. Also has a white collar which is nice.

Considering the designs were leaked months ago, i'm not surprised. It's nice to see an A-League club sporting something other than Reebok.

However, both kits almost train wrecks.

If you look at the fluro shirt in the pictures, it looks brilliant. It's clean and crisp. Imagine it without the A-League badge on the chest. A pretty cool looking strip, and something to shake the fans up with.

The home has too much white. Simply, Melbourne Victory are navy - you don't really associate them with white. The Adecco sponsor is horrendous, and so too the KFC/Hyundai ones, but hey, what can you do?

The A-League sponsor has to move to the arms though. It'll add so much cleanliness.

Re: A-League 2011/2012 kits

Yep these were leaked a while ago, but white shorts is news to me. I thought at first they might have gone for the alternate/interchanging look, ie showing how it can be worn at different times, but you can't have the fluro yellow adidas stripes in the home kit...

What is it with excessive white this year?! The side panels looks shocking, completely overpowers the V (at least in the home shirt). The away i can live with, love the collar - however i don't want to see it with a big great sponsor on it (particularly if it's red, urghh). It works for teams like Chelsea when the sponsor works with the design, no box!

Overall, 6.5/10

Re: A-League 2011/2012 kits

Victory's sponsorship logo is way too low, and the red is too much.

The proportions are way better on the away kit.

Re: A-League 2011/2012 kits

Need to drop the side panels, they look ridiculous. And the ad too, my god, why can't sponsors just blend in at least a little bit.

Fluro looks quite nice on a black background, but it also having side panels I probably wont agree with that when I see it in the light.
